Abstract

This article aims to analyze financial performance and develop a strategic business plan for Bengkel Wahda Pringapus, a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) in the automotive repair sector. The primary issues are the lack of structured financial planning and optimal business strategy, which limits growth potential amidst competition with modern repair shops that utilize the latest technology. The study draws on financial analysis and business planning theories to address these challenges, including the Balanced Scorecard and human resource management. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and direct observation and then analyzed qualitatively. The findings indicate that strategies focused on service quality improvement and adopting simple technologies have significantly enhanced Bengkel Wahda’s financial performance, evidenced by annual revenue growth of 15%. This study recommends further expansion of these strategies to maintain competitiveness in the future, including human resource development and adopting more efficient technologies.

Abstract

This study examines Indonesia’s coastal defense policy using an Anti-Access/Area Denial (A2/AD) strategy to protect its coastal regions. The A2/AD approach is adapted to the geographical characteristics of Indonesia as an archipelagic state, involving maritime radar surveillance, strengthening coastal patrol fleets, and developing access denial tactics in strategic areas like the Malacca Strait and the North Natuna Sea. Key threats, such as foreign vessel infiltration and illegal activities, drive the adoption of this strategy. A qualitative method is employed, analyzing policy documents, including the Indonesian Navy’s Strategic Plan, interviews with relevant officials, and case studies of the Nusantara Maritime Surveillance System (SPILN). The analysis reveals progress in infrastructure development, such as coastal base construction and defense equipment modernization. However, challenges remain, particularly in inter-agency coordination involving the Navy, Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla), and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, as well as limited resource allocation. The Fast Patrol Boat program exemplifies these issues, with operational constraints due to inadequate integration with national surveillance systems. Recommendations include enhancing policy synergy through a unified command center, optimizing maritime defense budgets, and improving tactical training for coastal units. These findings aim to guide policymakers in formulating a more effective coastal defense strategy to safeguard Indonesia’s maritime sovereignty and security.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of Collaborative Governance in poverty alleviation efforts through food self-sufficiency policies in South Sumatra Province. The focus of the research is on actor collaboration within food self-sufficiency policies as a strategy to reduce poverty. This study uses Weber’s theory, which includes vertical, horizontal, and partnership dimensions. Data were collected through public documentation and online videotapes and analyzed qualitatively. The study concludes that the vertical dimension has been met, as there is a legal basis for food self-sufficiency policies; the horizontal dimension is evident through the involvement of non-governmental actors, such as Bank Sumsel Babel; and the partnership dimension is also fulfilled due to binding negotiations between actors, positive partner perspectives, as well as the availability of human resources, political support, and financial resources for policy implementation. However, there are still challenges related to trust levels. Therefore, ongoing socialization of food self-sufficiency policies is needed to build trust among partners. Once this is addressed, food self-sufficiency policies could likely become a viable solution for poverty alleviation across Indonesia.

Abstract

Independence of defense and security equipment (Alpalhankam) is a strategic priority for Indonesia to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen national sovereignty. This article examines the transformation carried out by the State-Owned Enterprises Holding Defend ID—consisting of PT Pindad, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT PAL, PT LEN, and PT Dahana—in accelerating defense independence through technological integration and innovation. This study uses a comparative method by comparing the DEFEND ID strategy with countries that have achieved defense independence, such as Turkey and South Korea. The results of the study show that DEFEND ID has successfully increased the production capacity of defense equipment, such as the Anoa 6x6 combat vehicle, and increased exports by 15% in 2023. The synergy between SOEs has also contributed to cost efficiency of up to 20% in the last three years. However, there are significant challenges in technology transfer, human resource development (HR), and dependence on the state budget. These challenges include limitations in negotiating offset agreements, a shortage of high-tech experts, and the need for financing diversification. The study recommends accelerating technology transfer through stronger offset policies, developing high-tech-based training centers, and increasing access to international financing for strategic projects. With this strategy, DEFEND ID can strengthen its contribution in supporting national sovereignty and security, while increasing Indonesia's competitiveness at the global level. This article makes an important contribution to discussions related to national defense independence.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the influence of social support on emotional intelligence among adolescents through a literature review. The issue is focused on how social support shapes emotional intelligence during adolescence, a crucial period marked by significant physical, cognitive, emotional, and social changes, as outlined in Peter's theory. These changes often make it challenging for adolescents to differentiate between positive and negative influences, which can lead to deviant behaviors. According to Hayati, high levels of social support can have a positive impact on adolescents, such as providing care, emotional support, physical assistance, problem-solving capabilities, and a sense of being valued. Goleman's theory further suggests that emotional intelligence is not a fixed trait but a psychological factor that can be developed through environmental influences. This literature review synthesizes findings from 10 selected articles, gathered from electronic databases such as Google Scholar and Science Direct, focusing on studies published in the last ten years. The analysis reveals a significant positive relationship between social support and emotional intelligence in adolescents, indicating that higher levels of social support are associated with increased emotional intelligence.

Abstract

This research is focused on PT. XYZ, a company involved in the printing and production of flexible packaging. As a result, the findings may not be fully applicable to other organizations or industries, as they are specific to the unique context of this company. The study utilized a sample size of 45 employees, which, while adequate for the scope of this research, is relatively small and may not capture the full range of experiences and perceptions present in larger or different organizational environments. The analysis employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) methodology, which can be sensitive to both sample size and data distribution. Therefore, future research could improve upon this study by using a larger and more diverse sample, which would allow for a broader understanding of the relationship between communication, job satisfaction, and employee performance. Additionally, adopting a longitudinal approach could provide insights into how these factors evolve over time and in different contexts, offering a deeper understanding of the dynamics at play in diverse organizational settings.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the financial management at Rumah Makan Lontong Blora in Karangjati, Semarang Regency. The focus of the research is on the challenges faced by the owner in accounting and taxation management. To address this issue, financial management and accounting theories for SMEs are used as references. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the owner and direct observations of the financial management practices implemented. The analysis results indicate that the financial management is still simple, with deficiencies in understanding accounting and tax obligations. Although the owner is aware of the need for improvement, there is a requirement for concrete steps, such as attending accounting training and tax consulting to enhance compliance. The owner also plans to utilize user-friendly financial applications that have relevant features for SMEs, such as automated financial reporting and inventory management. This study concludes that increasing knowledge about financial management and taxation is crucial for business sustainability. The research also contributes to the theory of financial management in SMEs by demonstrating the importance of implementing good financial practices to improve efficiency and performance in the culinary business.

Abstract

Pangkalpinang is an area with a high potential for flood hazards. Therefore, it is essential to conduct spatial analysis to determine the flood vulnerability levels in this region. This study aims to assess flood vulnerability in Pangkalpinang City spatially. The research uses a quantitative approach with data analysis conducted through the overlay method and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The SMCE analysis results indicate that most areas in Pangkalpinang City have moderate to high flood vulnerability levels, suggesting a significant potential for flooding. Regarding dominant factors, the AHP weighting results show that land use plays a major role in determining flood vulnerability, with a weight of 0.40, meaning land use contributes 40% of the total factors. Built-up areas have a higher flood risk, explaining the high vulnerability in the city center of Pangkalpinang. Conversely, areas with low or no vulnerability are generally located in higher elevation zones with non-built-up land use, indicating that greater vegetation and higher terrain reduce the likelihood of flooding.

Abstract

This research aims to narrate and analyze the spirituality of social care carried out by the youth of GPIB Bukit Zaitun in Makassar City. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. Data was collected through observation and interviews. The results of the research show that the church as a religious institution and educational institution has succeeded in guiding young people to return to the basic values of Christianity, namely having love and caring for others as part of their devotion to God. This success was marked by the presence of GPIB Bukit Zaitun youth to provide assistance to economically marginalized parties, both on institutional and personal behalf. Social care on behalf of the institution is realized by means of fundraising, distribution of consumption, creative education with orphans, and distribution of fast breaking packages. Meanwhile, social care on behalf of individuals is realized by giving a certain amount of money to the poor, for example old newspaper sellers, scavengers, and giving school supplies to orphans. The social awareness action carried out by the youth of GPIB Bukit Zaitun is multicultural, in the sense that it does not differentiate between the target recipients of aid in terms of their religion.
