Abstract

Stunting is a condition of hindered child growth, which can be attributed to various factors, including a history of low birth weight (LBW), exclusive breastfeeding practices, and the cleanliness of the environment. The primary objective of this research is to pinpoint the factors associated with stunting among children aged 24-59 months in South Alai Village, which falls under the jurisdiction of UPT Puskesmas Alai in Kepulauan Meranti Regency. The data collection period for this study spanned from May 29 to June 20, 2023, and it involved the use of questionnaires and stadiometer measurements. The research design is analytical, utilizing a cross-sectional approach, with data analysis encompassing both univariate and bivariate analyses, including the Chi-Square test. The univariate analysis revealed the following statistics: out of the total sample, 53 toddlers (73%) did not exhibit signs of stunting, 69 toddlers (95%) were never born with LBW, 71 toddlers (97%) received exclusive breastfeeding, and 68 toddlers (93%) resided in environments characterized by satisfactory sanitation conditions. The results of the Chi-Square test, however, indicated that there is no significant relationship between a history of LBW, exclusive breastfeeding practices, environmental sanitation conditions, and the occurrence of stunting (p-value = 1.000).In summary, the majority of children aged 24-59 months in South Alai Village have not experienced LBW, received exclusive breastfeeding, and lived in environments with adequate sanitation. Consequently, there is no noteworthy association between a history of LBW, exclusive breastfeeding practices, environmental sanitation conditions, and the incidence of stunting in these children. The findings from this study are anticipated to enhance mothers' awareness regarding the significance of exclusive breastfeeding practices, appropriate nutrition for children beyond six months of age, and the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent the risk of stunting, particularly among toddlers. Mothers of toddlers are encouraged to improve their understanding of stunting, pay attention to their child's nutritional status, and regularly take their toddler to the local integrated health post (Posyandu) for growth and developmental monitoring.

Abstract

Introduction: Infant motor development is crucial because it bridges the movements that occur during life, produces perceptual information, provides a means to gain knowledge about the world, and allows social interaction. If the basic motor stage is not passed, then there will be obstacles in motor development. Early stimulation will be needed to optimize the growth and development of children according to their stages naturally. Tummy time is one obvious form of early stimulation for muscle tone, posture, and later development. Objective: To determine the relationship between tummy time and gross motor development of normal infants in the breastfeeding community in Denpasar. Methods: An observational study using an analytical cross-sectional study, involving 30 respondents from the breastfeeding mother community in Denpasar. Primary data was obtained through a google form using the WhatsApp blast. Data analysis used Spearman rank correlation test. Results: Showed a significant relationship between the variable doing tummy time and the variable gross motor development sitting in normal infants, whether it was seen from the strong or not the correlation (with very strong results because the correlation coefficient was close to 1), the significance of the correlation results was 0.000 (less than 0.01 and 0.05) and the direction of the correlation is positive. So, Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. Conclusion: Tummy time is proven to have a close relationship with the achievement of normal infant gross motor development with reference to the ability to sit at the age of six months. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended to do tummy time as a form of stimulation to achieve gross motor development of babies that the public needs to know.

Abstract

The immunization program aims to control the health and safety rates of children under five from the threat of various diseases related to infection. Very often, mothers are disobedient in immunizing their babies because they are influenced by perceptions or views from the social environment. The social environment exists in the family, peers and neighbors which can influence the attitudes and actions of a person or group in carrying out an activity. Meanwhile, immunization is very important for babies in an effort to prevent disease and increase toddlers' immunity. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research using a cross-sectional approach, which aims to describe the situation in depth and systematically. The sample consisted of 30 mothers. The instrument used was a questionnaire to measure social environmental factors and maternal compliance with basic immunization. The research data obtained was analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The research results showed that as many as 11 mothers (36.7%) who were in a good social environment tended to comply with the implementation of infant immunization. Meanwhile, 16 mothers (53.3%) who were in poor social environments tended to be disobedient to the implementation of infant immunization. The p value of 0.000 < 0.05 in the chi-square test shows that the social environment has a significant effect on maternal compliance in implementing basic immunization for babies in Sidodadi Ramunia Village. Mothers who live in a good social environment tend to comply with the implementation of infant immunization.

Abstract

Stroke is a disease that can cause disability in the body. As many as 30% of stroke sufferers become permanently disabled. Stroke occurs when blood vessels in the brain fail to provide oxygen to brain cells. If brain cells do not have enough oxygen, then brain cells become damaged. The pre-experimental research design uses a one group pre-post test research design where the experimental group first assesses their muscle strength, then is given treatment and measured again. The sample was determined using Accidental Sampling, namely by chance with a sample size of 21 patients. Before being given Passive ROM, muscle strength was paralyzed in 3 respondents (14.3%), weakness in 8 respondents (38.1%), and moderate weakness in 10 respondents (47.6%). After being given passive ROM, there was an increase in muscle strength in value 1 for 3 people (14.3%), value 2 for 8 people (38.1%), and value 3 for 10 people (47.6%). Based on data analysis, a significant value of 0.00 (? 0.05) was obtained, which means that there was an influence before and after being given passive ROM on the muscle strength of stroke patients at Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital in 2023.

Abstract

The problem of wasting still occurs quite frequently in Indonesia so efforts are needed to overcome this so that it does not cause detrimental impacts in both the short and long term. One effort that can be made is by providing food that is high in protein originating from local food ingredients such as mocaf flour and lomek fish flour. One product that can be developed from this material was cookies. Therefore, in this research, researchers will develop a cookies product from mocaf flour with the addition of lomek fish flour. The aim of this research was to determined the organoleptic characteristics and protein content of cookies products made from mocaf flour with the addition of lomek fish flour. The research design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). In this research, cookies product manufacturing, organoleptic testing, determination of the selected formula, and analysis of protein content were carried out. The organoleptic test results showed that the color, taste and texture attributes showed significantly different results (p-value<0.005) while the aroma attributes showed results that were not significantly different (p-value>0.005). The organoleptic test results show that formula 2 was preferable compared to formulas 1 and 3, especially in terms of taste attributes. Based on this, formula 2 was selected as the selected formula. Formula 2 contains 21.0 grams of protein per 100 grams of product and can be claimed as a high-protein product. This product requires further research related to organoleptic testing for the target group, complete proximate and amino acid content, and product shelf life.

Abstract

Current developments in food processing technology have made many food producers create variations in food products. Variations can include adding attractive food colorings so that consumers become enthusiastic. This good development is also disrupted because there are still some food producers who add synthetic food coloring which is not permitted to be used in food products. This happens because of a lack of knowledge and the desire of producers to make more profits, without thinking about the health impacts on the community. Synthetic dyes have a bad impact on human health, especially if they are not intended as food additives. Rhodamine-B is a synthetic dye that gives a bright red color to most cosmetic products. Rhodamine-B can irritate the gastric mucosa, eyes, skin, and respiratory tract, and trigger liver cancer. This type of research is quantitative using experimental methods in the laboratory. The samples tested were chili sauces with 5 different brands circulating in the Tanjung Morawa traditional market. Qualitative analysis using TLC was used to identify the presence of rhodamine-B in chili sauce. Comparative rhodamine-B levels and chili sauce were measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a maximum lambda of 545 nm. Chili sauces A, B, and D contain rhodamine-B dye as proven by TLC stains with Rf 0.92; 0.95; and 0.92. The linear regression equation obtained from the relationship between standard concentration and absorbance data is y = 0.0091x-0.009 with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.9988. Rhodamine-B levels in each chili sauce A, B, and D include 0.548; 0.505; and 0.496 mg/g. Regulation Number 722/Menkes/Per/IX/88 emphasizes that rhodamine-B is not permitted in food products because it is dangerous for body health.
