Abstract

Implementation of good cultivation systems can improve onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) yield. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of tuber cuttings and the  dose of NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of onion. The experimental design was factorial randomized block design arranged consisting of two factors. The first factor was tuber cuttings which consists of without and with  ¼ and 1/3 cut; the second one was dosage of NPK fertilizer which consists of without and with 200 kg/ha; 400 kg/ha; 600 kg/ha. There are 12 combinations of treatments, each of which is repeated three times. The results showed that there was no interaction effect between tuber cutting and NPK dosages on growth and yield of onion. independent effect of tuber cuttings and NPK dosages also didn’t inflence both parameter. Tuber cuttings  only increase pant height at one and two weeks after planting. Overall, cutting-quarter of the tuber could induce better fresh  weight and dry weight of tubers although statistically didn’t significant.

Abstract

Swietenia mahagoni is a timber forestry plants have allelopathy toxic, can interfere with the growth of surrounding plants. This study aimed to determine the effects of extracts from various parts of Swietenia mahagoni on seed germination of green beans and corn. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Silviculture, an extract from a litter, fresh leaves, bark and roots of the Swietenia mahagoni plant and given to the seed germination green beans and corn. The results showed that the extract of fresh leaves and roots Swietenia mahagoni inhibit seed germination green beans and corn, while the provision of litter no effect. Green bean seed has a higher durability of the maize seed to allelopathy of root Swietenia mahagoni.

Abstract

Trichoderma harzianum as a potential biological agent and are widely used to control diseases in various agricultural crops and plantations. This research goal of getting the best growth of Trichoderma harzianum on molasses-based liquid medium. The treatments tested was added 0.05%, 0.1% and 1% liquid pure culture of Trichoderma harzianum each in 500 ml of sterile liquid medium containing 5% molasses (v/v) and 5% commercial yeast (b / v), and incubated for five days. The results showed that Trichoderma harzianum growth with the highest number of spores occur if the molasses-based liquid medium supplemented with 1% Trichoderma harzianum.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the antagonistic bacteria Pseudomonas spp. of paddy roots endophytic against disease blast (Pycularia oryzae) in vitro. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Agroecology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa on April to June 2015. This research implemented experimental one factor that arranged in Completely Randomized Design with three replications. The treatment consisted of 9 isolates of Pseudomonas sp. which was screened from endophytic roots of paddy plants.  The test  results  showed  that  antagonistic in  vitro  testing could inhibit the growth P. oryzae. Inhibition of 9 isolates to the growth Pseudomonas spp. had the significant clear zone. Isolate Ps 17 (58.89%), Ps 22 (54.44%), Ps 37 (52.06%) and Ps 39 (61.42%) have the largest inhibition. The results showed that the bacteria Pseudomonas sp. on this research is potential on controlling disease blast in paddy plant.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to obtain correlation model between NDVI (Normalized Density Value Index) and Freshness Index, to examine the capability of Landsat-TM satellite to show opened green space in controlling the effect of heat island, to know the level of freshness in Ambon town, and to produce layout of opened green space of Ambon town in relation with the need of freshness of the communities. The result of the research showed that Landsat-TM satellite  can be used to detect  the green space area of the Ambon town. Based on the classification of NDVI through Landsat-TM satellite, the Ambon town has 899,9 hectares (3 %) of land without vegetation or scarcely vegetation, 1488,71 hectares (4 %) were low density of vegetation, 1495,34 hectares (4 %) were in middle density, and 32060, 58 hectares were in high density.  NDVI had a positive correlation to the temperature and relative humidity which means that increasing of vegetation density  decreased the temperature and increased the relative humidity of a certain area.  Effect of the heat island to the Ambon town are identified  1267,93 hectares, and generally found in the central of town (District of Sirimau) and the new development area which followed the main road area.
