Abstract

This systematic literature review aims to enhance our understanding of the Taliban activities in Afghanistan and broaden our knowledge of the associated phenomenon. We employed a Systematic Literature Review protocol and sourced our data from the Scopus index, yielding 164 articles from which 91 were selected following a filtration process. Our analysis reveals that the resurgence of the Taliban and its organizational dynamics over the past four decades have had a significant impact on Afghanistan and its citizens. The majority of the studies in our dataset (52 articles) approached the phenomenon from a political perspective, with health issues being the second most explored topic (17 articles). The data collected in this study indicates that the majority of the literature discussing the Taliban and Afghanistan was qualitative in nature (89 articles). Our results suggest that the Taliban's current influence in Afghanistan is only weakly linked to religious motivations, contrary to the common media portrayal. Only a small number of studies in our dataset (3.29%, n=3) explored the ideological basis of the phenomenon. This paper underscores the need for further research to address the pressing political and health issues faced by the Afghan people and highlights the potential benefits of improved political stability and increased access to healthcare facilities.// // // // //

Abstract

During the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indonesian government has shown a power contestation. The pandemic turned out to be a stage for actors and policymakers. Some policymakers use the economic approach as power, politics, and regional interests, to the medical power approach. Differences in handling between policymakers both vertically and horizontally have created confusion, counterproductive, and even conflict between parties, resulting in the slow handling of the pandemic. In line with that, this paper looks at the forms of contestation between various policymakers, both central and regional. It analyzes the factors causing the power contestation in handling the pandemic. This study uses the results of observations, searches, and readings on sources of information from various online media and previous research. It turns out that our findings show that economic power has dominated and has become a force that guarantees policies and the logic of power in handling the pandemic. This paper suggests the need to expand the cases studied and add data sources to enable a more comprehensive understanding of the importance of handling the pandemic.

Abstract

This article explains the tabanni (adoption) concept adopted by Hizbut Tahrir and its relationship with the level of public acceptance of Hizbut Tahrir's ideas, thoughts and ideals. Using a qualitative method through a content analysis approach to the comments of Muslim figures from mainstream organizations, observation and literature study, reinforced by data on the level of public support for Hizbut Tahrir in Indonesia (HTI) from several survey institutions, the author finds that HTI activists failed to socialize their ideas, thoughts and ideals because they lost the test in the public sphere in Habermas' perspective. This is evidenced by public support to the government for the revocation of HTI's legal entity. This failure was caused by the concept of tabanni that they adopted in order to maintain internal unity which had a negative impact on the interaction of HTI activists with external parties. The concept of institutionalized tabanni is pseudo, unable to prevent the internal conflict and frictions that often occur as a result of the party organizational model with single leadership pattern which is semi-military in nature.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze Political Commitment in managing border tourism in Kapuas Hulu District. The border is one of the potentials owned by Indonesia for the development of boundaries, such as tourism activities in Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan. From this context, the explorative potential of the Regency is quite diverse, regarding nature, culture and adventure tourism. This is in line with the challenges encountered in the management of border tourism, such as the lack of supporting facilities, as well as the formation of cooperation and capital in managing exploration toward superiority. Furthermore, political commitment is needed in the management and development of border tourism, specifically through three aspects, namely verbal (expressed), institutional, and budgetary. By using a qualitative descriptive method, Political Commitment in the management of border tourism was analyzed. The data collection process also emphasized interviews with related parties, as secondary information sources included books, scientific journals, mass media, and documents from existing survey institutions.

Abstract

The Problem of territorial disputes in the South China Sea have long occurred in the dynamics of Indo-Pacific international politics. However, it is interesting that during the Covid-19 Pandemic situation, the conflict between Indonesia and China is increasingly accompanied by the involvement of the United States and Russia in the region. This essay aims to describe Indonesia's national and geostrategic interests in the South China Sea conflicts region. This study uses qualitative methods, then data is collected using interviews and documentation. The results of this study found that Indonesia is interested in maintaining the sovereignty and economic potential in the North Natuna Sea. Indonesia is increasing patrols and military cooperation with the United States as a way to show sovereignty, even though China also influences the Indonesian economy, especially in investment. In addition, Indonesia is cooperating with Russia in exploring and exploiting oil and natural gas in the North Natuna Sea region. This military and business cooperation have become Indonesia's geostrategy in counteracting China's intervention in the North Natuna Sea region. The geostrategic implications strengthen Indonesia's position in regional politics, especially related to defending territorial sovereignty from the threat of other countries.
