Abstract

Research on The Analysis of Factors Influencing the Production of Clove Farming (Syzigium Aromaticum) in West Kuwus District West Manggarai Regency Aims to analyze factors that affect the production of clove farming and to analyze the production rate of clove farming in West Kuwus District West Manggarai Regency. Field research was conducted during September 2020 in the West Kuwus Subdistrict area of West Manggarai Regency. Data used are primary and secondary data. The determination of respondents is done using a simple random sampling method. The number of samples taken amounted to 15% of the total population of 180 people so that 35 respondents were clove farmers. Data analysis using regression through Cobb-Douglas production function approach. The results showed that, factors that have a positive and significant effect on the production of clove plants are plant age, fertilizer use, and number of plants. While factors of crop area, and the use of pesticides have a negative relationship and have no significant effect on the production of clove crops. Furthermore, the use of labor has no significant effect on clove production but has a positive relationship. These results indicate that the addition of labor at a certain time especially at the time of harvest can increase the production of clove crops. The income of clove farming is largely determined by the age of the plant and the amount of plant ownership. The lowest income per plant in the 5 - 10 year plant age group is Rp 175 thousand and the highest at the age of plants over 25 years is Rp 1,625,000,-. Income by crop ownership is the lowest of Rp 3.500.000,- with the ownership of as many as 20 trees in the age group of 5 - 10 years; and the highest amount of Rp 339.250.000,- with the ownership of 230 trees in the age group of 21 - 25 years.

Abstract

The research was conducted on organic vegetable business in Pagal Ekopastoral, Cibal Sub-district. The research aims to determine the income and financial feasibility of organic vegetables with break event point and revenue cost ratio. Data collection with interviews using questionnaires. Data tabulated and analyzed with the method of break event point (BEP) and revenue Cost Ratio (R/C). These two types of analysis are divided into two forms, namely by vegetable type and overall. Based on calculations using bep method of production and price, types of vegetables caisim, pakcoy, chicory, cauliflower and broccoli worth trying or developed next where BEP production of 153.5 kg means the point of return of organic vegetables is occurring at the time of production of 153.5 kg, while BEP organic vegetable prices achieved at a minimum price of Rp. 3,070 / kg, meaning the point of return of organic vegetables at a minimum price of Rp.3,070 /kg. The calculation of R/C Ratio of all types of vegetables obtained a value of 3.25. Meaning that each cost expenditure of Rp. 1, then farmers will get a receipt of Rp.3.25. Based on this value shows that the revenue is greater than the cost of production so it can be said that the organic vegetable business in Ekopastoral is in a profitable position and worth running.

Abstract

To support sustainable agriculture, technology and practices that have been proven relevant to increase production and environmental sustainability are needed. Conservation agriculture (CA) with three main principles, namely zero tillage (ZT), the use of cover crops and crop rotation has spread throughout the world, but by applying 1 or 2 of the three principles and on a very diverse land area, it has been proven to increase production yields in various places in the world (Fao, 2015a; Hobbs, 2012; FAO, 2014 in Hendrik et al, 2021). ZT with residue retention uses rainfall more efficiently and results in a more robust agronomic system than practices involving conventional tillage CT or ZT with residue removal. while conservation agriculture with zero tillage treatment and no residue retention gives lower yields than conventional farming practices (Verhulst et.al, 2011 in Romero-Perezgrovas, et al 2014). Conservation agriculture according to Derpsch et al, 2016, is based on diversification through crop rotation and cover crops and on fixed application without tillage. The results show that removing residues can reduce yields and reduce returns on ZT economic yields (Derpsch et al ,2014) . Planting without tillage (ZT) which is not combined with ground cover gives poor production performance (Ashburner, 1984 in Derpsch et al, 2014). In areas with low rainfall, the highest yields were obtained from ZT and the use of crop residue retention, in contrast to the conventional system (CT), and the lowest yields were obtained in the absence of ZT and did not use residues. Similar results were also found in rainfed land, wheat and maize yields were drastically reduced when the residue was removed from the no till system (ZT). This means that the residue produced in many small-scale farms is not only low but also has many competing uses (Magnan et al., 2012; Valbuena et al., 2012; Tittonel et al., 2007). The majority of farmers use crop residues as animal feed (Hendrik, et al, 2021). Or crop residues are only burned in corn fields. For successful farming with conservation farming techniques, at least a combination of no tillage (ZT) and the use of crop residues as ground cover or crop rotation is required.
