Dialectical Literature and Education Journal is a journal that publishes original papers researching or documenting issues in literature and education. It is published by English Education Department, STKIP Panca Sakti Bekasi. The journal has regularly published two times a year in March and October. We accept original research, conceptual, and best practice articles related to literature and education. The language of the journal is English. The aim of this Journal is to promote a principled approach to research on literature and language-related concerns by encouraging inquiry into relationship between theoretical and practical studies. The journal welcomes contributions in such areas of current analysis in: English Language Pedagogy; English language Literacy; English for Specific Purposes; ELT Materials Development and Evaluation; English Language Testing and Assessment; Teaching English to Young Learners; English Literature; Language Policy and Planning; and Second Language Acquisition.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the types of speech act and the most speech act find in Shakira’s speech through watching the video and reading script. This speech was delivered at WISE Conference Qatar on 2019 with the title “Education Changes the World”. The data was taken from the YouTube. This research used descriptive qualitative method to describe and analyze the type of speech act and the most speech act used in Shakira’s speech. To focus on this research, the researcher limited the type of speech act (illocutionary act) based on John Searle’s theory to know the types of speech act and after that analyzed the most speech act used in the speech. The study found types of speech act. The details of speech act in Shakira’s speech are 23 data which were divided into five categories, as follow; 70%  is assertive, 5 or 15% is directive, 3 or 9% is expressive, 2 or 6%  is commisive, but declaration were not found in this research. Then, assertive is the most dominant type that used in this speech.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to scrutinize the nature of corrective feedback delivered by instructors in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms and to delve into the perspectives of students who received such feedback from their educators. The study seeks to explore the diverse forms of corrective feedback utilized by instructors to address flaws or errors in students' writing practices, while also examining students' perceptions of this feedback subsequent to the correction process. The research was conducted at a private university situated in Bekasi, employing a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection encompassed the distribution of questionnaires and the conduction of interviews. This study reveals that instructors furnish students with five distinct types of feedback. The results indicate that Lexical Feedback is consistently provided to all students, closely followed by Grammar Feedback. Additionally, a majority of students frequently receive Structural Feedback. Insights from the interviews highlight that a substantial number of students exhibit a favorable disposition towards the various forms of corrective feedback employed by the instructors. Moreover, this research underscores the imperative of integrating corrective feedback into the English language instruction for students learning English as a foreign language (EFL).

Abstract

Games are the trademark and unmistakable of the Indonesian country and can possibly be utilized in learning in schools. This study could help those associated with language instruction, particularly instructors and understudies. Educational games could be used by teachers to motivate students to study in a fun and competitive environment. 45 Phase E, or class 10, students participate in this study by playing English games. The instrument utilized in this review utilized Classroom Action Research (CAR) techniques. The information assortment instrument utilized a pretest - posttest which was made in learning station determined to make understudies more keen on its different highlights. This review means to decide the execution of learning station game in further developing tenth grade understudies' English language capability (Phase E-Amazing). This study examines 45 students in the class. On both the pre- and post-tests, the improvement received an average score of 2.28 percent. It was a remarkable accomplishment, especially when you consider the 2.79 percent increase in pronouncing. Reach the determination that the procedure meets the goals in view of the game that was utilized when it was carried out. The game also increased students' motivation because of their participation in the class. It was featured in both the Pre-Test and Post-Test sections.

Abstract

This research focused on the analysis of the translingual practices of Indonesian teenage Instagram Users based on Muysken’s theory. This research applied the descriptive-qualitative method. The data for this research were the caption posts produced by Indonesian teenagers on Instagram. The sample was taken from Indonesian teenagers’ Instagram users. The data was taken from social media sites such as Instagram. The research also used interviews to learn the reasons why the students produced translingual. The result of this research showed that there were three types of transliteration produced by teenagers. Insertion (noun, verb, preposition, and idiom) and Alternation (phrase and clause), congruent lexicalization based on Muysken’s theory There were some reasons why the students produced code mixing based on Bhatia and Ritchie's theory: participant roles and relationships, situational factors, message-intrinsic factors, language attitude, dominance, and security. The other reasons are to practice their English, to show the group identity, to make it simple and familiar, to show the trend, and to show their personal habits.

Abstract

Abstract: One of the factors that can influence the economic development of a country is the presence of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). With the development of technology and globalization of the world, to introduce MSME, it is necessary to create a relevant promotional media. Bilingual booklet is an option that business owner can use to promote their products. This study uses research and design method. English is a widely spoken and understood language in the business world. Creating booklets in English helps companies effectively communicate with a global audience, potential clients, partners, and customers. The aim of the research is to produce a local industry promotion media in the form of a booklet using two languages, English and Indonesian so that it can reach the international market. The stages in designing the booklet itself use the ADDIE model including analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate stages. The research location was a local industry in Palembang Pempek Crispy Neny and data was collected through interviews, questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The result of the research is on the formation and development of promotional media for Pempek Crispy Neny bilingual booklet containing information about the products offered by this industry.
