Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a rapidly growing aquaculture commodity. However, in the process of tilapia farming, there are issues with low appetite and survival rates during the fry stage. Binahong leaves are a natural ingredient that can be used to improve fish appetite and health. This study aims to determine how powdered binahong leaf feed affects fish survival rates and tilapia feeding behavior. The study lasted 42 days. A descriptive analysis method was used, and the study consisted of three treatments. The immunostimulant treatments administered via feed were: A (Control) and B (Binahong Leaves at 125 g/kg feed). The primary parameters of this study were fish survival rate and feeding response. Supporting parameters included temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen (DO). The results indicated that the addition of binahong leaf powder (Anredera cordifolia) in feed significantly increased the survival rate and feeding response of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) by 100%—as no mortality occurred and the best feeding response was observed in treatment B, which included 125 g/kg of Binahong leaves (Anredera cordifolia) in the feed. The results obtained can be recommended as a natural immunostimulant in aquaculture feed.

Abstract

Sustainability is an important aspect in forest resource management that determines ecological balance, economic welfare, and long-term social sustainability. This study aims to analyze the sustainability status of coffee agroforestry in the Community Forest (HKm) scheme in the Bukit Daun Protection Forest Area, Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, based on five dimensions of sustainability (ecological, economic, social, technological, and institutional). Using the MCDA VIKOR approach to determine sustainability status, and PCA to identify dominant indicators. Data were obtained from 182 respondents who are members of 9 GKTH, and weighting by 4 experts. The results show that GKTH Telaga 7 Warna and Bioa Sengok are categorized as highly sustainable, two GKTH are quite sustainable, and five others are unsustainable. The dominant indicators that influence sustainability status are Production Reliability based on plant diversity, agroforestry efficiency and capacity strengthening based on HKm legality, knowledge capacity and social participation of HKm farmers, independence and local-based technological innovation, and the effectiveness of governance and cohesiveness of KTH members.

Abstract

This study aimed to characterize the morphological and agronomic traits of five local tomato accessions from Kutoarjo (A, B, C, D, and E) as a foundation for plant breeding programs. The experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block design with six replications. Observations included qualitative and quantitative characters based on the IPGRI and UPOV descriptor guidelines. The analysis results proved that vegetative traits, such as plant height, stem diameter, and leaf size, did not show significant differences among the accessions. In contrast, generative traits (days to flowering, fruit size, productivity, and seed weight) showed highly significant differences. The Kutoarjo E accession exhibited the best agronomic performance with a productivity of 2.20 kg/plant, 67.83 fruits/plant, and a 1000-seed weight of 3.47 g. In conclusion, these local tomato accessions possess phenotypic and agronomic variations with great potential for sustainable utilization as basic breeding materials.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different varieties on the viability and early growth of expired sweet corn seeds (Zea Mays Var. Saccharate L.). The research was conducted using two varietal treatments, namely E1 (CMB Solid) and E2 (Pioneer P35). The parameters observed include germination rate, plant height, and root length at 7 and 14 days after planting (DAP). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the BNT test at the 0.05 level. The research results show that the variety has a very significant effect on germination rate and early seedling growth. The CMB Solid (E1) variety yielded the best results with a germination rate of 0.28% at 7 days after sowing (DAS) and increased to 0.33% at 14 DAS, followed by better plant height growth and root length compared to the Pioneer P35 (E2) variety. This difference is due to the ability of each variety to maintain seed viability and vigor during storage. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the CMB Solid variety is more tolerant of expired seed conditions and has a better ability to support seed germination and early plant growth compared to Pioneer P35.

Abstract

Improving rice productivity requires proper crop management practices, including effective disease control. The objective of this study is to analyze the potential application of Score 250 EC®, with the active ingredient difenoconazole, for the growth of the IR 64 rice variety (Oryza sativa). The experiment was conducted using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with seven concentration levels, namely S0 = 0 L (control), S1 = 0.075 L, S2 = 0.150 L, S3 = 0.225 L, S4 = 0.300 L, S5 = 0.375 L, and S6 = 0.450 L, where each concentration was diluted in 500 L of water per hectare (ha⁻¹). The 1,000-grain weight parameter showed a significant effect across treatments compared to the control. The treatment with a concentration of 0.300 L Score per 500 L water ha⁻¹ resulted in the highest average weight of 24.78 g. Meanwhile, for the milled dry grain parameter, the concentration of 0.300 L Score per 500 L water ha⁻¹ produced the highest average yield of 7.21 t ha⁻¹

Abstract

This study aims to determine fruit prices and profit margins based on pricing strategies, examine price variations, and determine whether there are significant differences among pricing strategies in fruit shops in Bengkulu City. This study employed a quantitative survey of fruit stores in Bengkulu City, identified via Google Maps, using descriptive, profitability, price variability (CV), and statistical analyses. The results show that 61 types of fruit are sold, with imported fruit commanding higher prices than local fruit. Value-based pricing strategies yield the highest profit margins and sales revenue, although statistical tests indicate no significant differences among pricing strategies. The high CV value indicates that price variation is becoming increasingly heterogeneous. However, an increasing variety of fruits and high price variation do not necessarily correlate with increased revenue for the fruit store business. This study underscores the importance of value-based pricing strategies in enhancing profitability and customer loyalty.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the sources of financing for rice farming on different land tenure status, examine the pattern of financing for rice farming in the research location and examine the factors that influence farmers in the utilization of financing sources. The method of determining the location by multistages sampling and the method of determining the sample is stratified purposive sampling. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and probit regression model (probability unit). The results showed that 64% of sharecroppers and 57% of sharecroppers used independent sources of capital, while 26% of sharecroppers and 33% of sharecroppers used loan capital and the other 10% used shared capital. Sources of financing for farmer loans, namely neighbors with a pattern of loan repayments, do not have special requirements and the repayment period is relatively long. Factors that influence farmers in utilizing sources of financing for their rice farming are education, land area and land tenure status. Education has a positive effect on the use of financing sources, while land area and land tenure status have a negative effect.

Abstract

The main challenge in the livestock sector today is soaring production costs due to the limited availability of conventional forage. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of Megarhizo Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) on the productivity and morphological characteristics of duckweed (Lemna sp.) as a candidate for alternative feed. Specifically, this study aimed to map plant responses, including fresh weight, dry weight, leaf width, and root length, as well as their impact on the stability of the growing medium's water quality. This experiment was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four POC dosage levels (P0: 0 ml, P1: 15 ml, P2: 20 ml, and P3: 25 ml per 10 liters of water) with four replications. The data analysis results showed that the application of POC had a significant effect (P < 0.05) in improving the quality of the cultivation environment, indicated by a decrease in water temperature and a neutralization of the pH level from alkaline conditions (9.17) to the optimal range (7.79). However, the addition of nutrients through liquid organic fertilizer (POC) did not have a significant impact (P > 0.05) on all physical plant growth parameters. Among all treatments, the P1 dose (15 ml/10L) was identified as the most efficient concentration because it produced the maximum average root length (25.89 cm) and dry matter weight (4.71 grams) compared to other doses. This study concluded that although it was not able to significantly increase biomass in a short time, the Megarhizo liquid organic fertilizer played a crucial role in creating more ideal growing media conditions for the sustainability of duckweed cultivation as a source of animal feed.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of utilizing cow dung and animal feed waste as raw materials for composting on the quality of macronutrient content including nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). The background of this study is based on the importance of managing livestock waste into useful products for the agricultural sector as well as an environmentally friendly solution to improve soil structure and support sustainable agricultural systems. The research method was carried out by applying five treatment levels, namely P0 as a control, and P1, P2, P3, and P4 which involved the addition of EM4 activator up to a concentration of 5%. The results of the analysis showed that in the nitrogen parameter, the highest average was achieved by treatment P3 at 0.59, followed by P4 (0.57) and P0 (0.55), but statistically the results showed no significant difference (P <0.05) across all treatments. This indicates that treatment variations have not been able to significantly increase nitrogen content, which is thought to be due to the uniform decomposition process and the risk of nitrogen loss in the form of ammonia during the composting process. In contrast, for the phosphorus parameter, the P4 treatment produced the highest yield of 0.39 and showed a significant difference compared to the other treatments, with the lowest value at P0 of 0.28. The effectiveness of P4 in increasing phosphorus is closely related to the optimal activity of phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms in breaking down organic compounds into inorganic compounds that are available to plants. The most significant increase was seen in the potassium parameter, where the P4 treatment produced the highest value of 0.85, followed by P3 (0.71), P2 (0.67), P1 (0.61), and P0 (0.43). Statistical analysis showed that the treatment had a very significant effect on potassium levels, which was influenced by the high original mineral content in the raw materials and the effectiveness of the decomposition process in breaking down complex minerals into readily absorbable elements. Overall, the study concluded that the application of EM4 up to 5% had a very significant effect on increasing potassium, but did not have a statistically significant effect on nitrogen and phosphorus content in the final conclusion. The use of this technology has proven effective in reducing livestock waste and optimizing the overall quality of organic fertilizer.

Abstract

The coffee agroforestry system in the Bukit Daun Community Forest (HKm), Lebong Regency, integrates conservation functions and the improvement of community economy. This study aims to analyze the condition of livelihood resources, the application of agroecology, the structure of agroforestry income, and the relationships between variables. The study sample consisted of 182 respondents using proportional random sampling techniques. Analysis was conducted using a 0–1 scale index (Min-Max Scaling), descriptive income analysis, and SEM-PLS. The results show that livelihood resources are in the moderate category, with the highest index in natural capital (0.516), followed by financial (0.507), social (0.455), physical (0.418), and human (0.316). The application of agroecology is fairly good in biological synergy (0.747) and biomass recycling (0.632), but low in biodiversity (0.206). The income structure is dominated by main crops at 87%, while intercropped plants make up 13%. SEM-PLS results indicate that agroecology is influenced by natural capital, financial, and social, whereas acceptance is influenced by social, human, financial, and physical capital.
