Abstract

LKPD (Ethnomathematics Based Learner Worksheets) has great potential to improve the quality of mathematics learning. However, many LKPDs made by teachers in schools have not been related to the surrounding culture. This article aims to present an initial overview of the development of ethnomathematics-based LKPD. The model used in this research is the Plomp model which consists of 3 stages, namely Prelimenary research (preliminary analysis), Prototyping phase (development or prototyping), and Assessment phase. Due to limited funds and time, this research was carried out only up to the Preliminary Analysis stage. The subjects of this research were students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 05 Sungai Kakap. The first data was obtained from interviews with students, and the second data was obtained from the results of a questionnaire distributed to students. The results of the needs analysis, curriculum analysis, concept analysis, and analysis of the characteristics of students can be concluded that, it is necessary to develop Ethnomathematics-based LKPD on the Quadrangle and Triangle Material, which contains student activities in finding concepts that begin with a problem related and close to the daily lives of students, as well as with language and presentation according to the characteristics of grade VII junior high school students.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of learning style and interest in learning on the creative thinking ability of 8th grade junior high school students. Creative thinking ability is the ability to think consistently to produce something creative. While, learning style is a fixed way for students to receive information, remember, and think to solve a problem, and interest is an internal drive that causes attention, interest, and satisfaction in an activity. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational research design. Respondents in this study were 78 students from classes VIIIF and VIIIG SMPN 1 Parongpong, west Bandung. The instruments used were questionnaires for learning style and for learning interest, and a creative thinking ability test. The research result shows that: (1) There are 22 students with one dominant learning style, 46 students have two, 60 students have three dominant learning styles, and there are more students with group learning style; (2) the learning interest of junior high school students are in the medium category, (3) 16.67% of the students have high categorical creative thinking ability, 62.82% of the students have medium, and 20.51% of the students have low categorical creative thinking ability; (4) There is an effect of learning style and learning interest towards the creative thinking ability of grade eight junior high school students.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of Mathematical Learning Objects based on blended pictorial abstracts on the Reflective Abstraction abilities of students in the mathematics selection category. The subjects in this study were 107 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program who contracted secondary school mathematics courses (or equivalent) from four private universities on the island of Java. The subjects were taken purposively, the selection of universities was carried out randomly. The results obtained are: (1) There are differences in the Reflective Abstraction abilities of students who learn using Mathematical Learning Objects based on blended Pictorial abstract based on the prerequisite knowledge ability (KPP) categories of low, medium, high, with sig.0.006; (2) Based on further tests, to see which one is better, the results obtained are sig. 0.008 for KRA_KPPR and KR A-KPPS; sig. 0.002 for KRA_KPPR and KRA-KPPST; and sig. 0.500 for KRA_KPPS and KRA- KPPT. This means that: the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the medium KPP category is better than the students in the low KPP category, the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the high KPP category is better than the students in the low KPP category, the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the high KPP category is no better than the students in the medium KPP category.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve student learning outcomes in addition and subtraction material by using simple concrete objects, such as shirt buttons and straws. This will be interesting because students will understand it more easily by using real objects around them. This research is classroom action research, involving 15 grade 1 students at Parongpong Adventist Elementary School. This research consists of two cycles, each cycle includes Planning, Implementation, Observation and Reflection. The instruments used were test questions, observation sheets and interviews. The results of the research show that there is an increase in student learning outcomes which can be seen in the average class scores between cycle I and Cycle II respectively, namely 73.50 and 78.01, and the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes in cycles I and II respectively, namely 73.33% and 86.67%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that learning using clothes buttons and straws can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes
