Abstract

This study analyses the development and transformation of Islamic education curricula from the classical era to the contemporary period, focusing on changes in systems, teaching methods, and the challenges encountered. Using a historical-comparative analytical approach, the research examines the evolution of Islamic education curricula, starting from mosque-based learning systems in the classical era, the development of madrasas in the mediaeval period, to the adoption of digital technology and modern teaching methods in the contemporary era. The findings reveal that the Islamic education curriculum has undergone significant transformations to respond to the needs of the times. It evolved from an initial focus on Quranic studies and religious sciences to a system integrating religious and general knowledge, and further to the adoption of technology and innovative teaching methods in the Society 5.0 era. Key challenges identified include balancing fundamental Islamic values with the demands of modernity, integrating technology into learning, and fostering 21st-century competencies. This study recommends developing a holistic curriculum that integrates Islamic values with technological innovations and global needs while emphasising character development and soft skills to prepare an excellent Muslim generation for the digital age.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the existence of customary systems in responding to marital disputes that occur in society. In the Minangkabau community, customs are inseparable from daily life. One such place is Jorong Sungai Sanda, where the presence of customs is still very strong. In Sorong Sungai Sanda, the term  mamak limo  is known, which refers to the head of customs. Whenever issues arise in the community, they report them to the  mamak  as the elder in society. This research is a field study. Data was obtained through interviews with relevant parties such as the mamak, the community, and other related parties. The conclusion of this research is that the role of  mamak  in the Jorong Sungai Sanda community is still very strong. In resolving marital disputes, the  mamak  plays an active role; when conflicts arise, it is the  mamak  who mediates to find a solution. The advantage of resolving disputes through this system is that it allows for quick resolution and avoids the emergence of new problems. However, in this dispute resolution, the  mamak  does not instruct their nephews to handle their divorces in court, which may lead to new issues in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the contextualization strategy of religious content by STKIP Abdi Pendidikan Payakumbuh students through social media in order to strengthen understanding and internalization of moderate and contextual Islamic values. This research uses a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that students not only act as passive consumers, but also as active, adaptive, and reflective producers of religious content. Contextualization strategies are carried out through the use of communicative and dialogical language, the selection of visual formats that are attractive and in accordance with the characteristics of digital platforms, and the delivery of Islamic values that are reflective, moderate, and relevant to contemporary issues. However, this process is not free from various challenges, such as limited digital and religious literacy, time constraints, algorithmic pressure, and social resistance in the form of negative comments. This research recommends the importance of strengthening digital Islamic literacy, creative media training, and the integration of digital da'wah in student character development programs in higher education.

Abstract

This research examines harmony in diversity and local cultural relations in Indonesia with a focus on the history of the entry of Islam, the balance of community life between religion and local culture, and efforts to build Islamic harmony in cultural diversity. The research approach used is a qualitative method with digital source-based data collection techniques. The research data was obtained through Dimensions, Google Scholar, and Publish or Perish applications to search for relevant literature, while data analysis was carried out with the help of Sciscape and VorViewers to map concept interactions and related scientific networks. The results show that the entry of Islam into Indonesia took place through trade, da'wah, and cultural assimilation that allowed Islam to adapt to local wisdom without eliminating the essence of religious teachings. The balance between Islamic teachings and local culture is reflected in various aspects of community life, including traditions, arts, and social systems that accommodate Islamic values without ignoring local cultural identity. In addition, this research found that efforts to build Islamic harmony in the diversity of local cultures in Indonesia require an inclusive approach, intercultural dialogue, and the active role of religious leaders and traditional leaders in aligning religious understanding with cultural values that have long developed in society. Thus, this research contributes to understanding how Islam and local culture can interact harmoniously without causing identity conflicts. The implications of this research are expected to serve as a basis for policy-making in building an inclusive, tolerant and civilised society, as well as a reference for further studies related to the relationship between religion and culture in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was motivated by several issues, such as public school teachers rarely assigning project or group tasks, and the student worksheets (LKPD) used in schools were considered less appealing to students, especially in terms of visual design. The purpose of this research is to develop a Project Based Learning (PjBL)-based LKPD for IPAS (Science and Social Studies Integration) learning in Grade IV of Elementary School that meets the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective. The method used in this study is Research and Development (RD) using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The product was validated by experts using a validity questionnaire. The practicality aspect was assessed using a questionnaire completed by teachers, and effectiveness was evaluated through a questionnaire filled out by students. The results of the development of the Project Based Learning (PjBL)-based Student Worksheet (LKPD) showed a validity score of 81%, categorized as very valid. The practicality score was 94%, categorized as very practical. The effectiveness score was 88%, categorized as very effective. Therefore, it can be concluded that the PjBL-based LKPD is valid, practical, and effective, and can be used by students. Keywords: LKPD, PjBL, ADDIE

Abstract

This study aims to explore and describe the subjective experiences of elderly individuals in practicing dzikir as a form of psychospiritual therapy at Madrasah Ibnu Masud, Segamat, Malaysia. Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, the study involved five elderly informants who actively participated in morning and evening dzikir sessions. The research data were collected through three methods: in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, which served to complement and strengthen the primary data. The collected data were analyzed through three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results of the study revealed five main themes: inner peace and anxiety reduction, spiritual connection and meaning of life, emotional regulation enhancement, reactualization of self-worth, and spiritual loneliness therapy. These findings indicate that dzikir is not merely a ritual worship practice, but also serves as an effective psychospiritual therapy that enhances the mental health and emotional well-being of the elderly. Dzikir has a significant impact in strengthening spiritual connection, improving emotional conditions, and reconstructing life meaning and self-esteem in the elderly. This study recommends the integration of dzikir practices into elderly care programs as a low-cost, meaningful, and faith-based approach

Abstract

This research explores Shaykh Muhammad Abduh's views on the pros and cons of the will verse, which is generally considered by the majority of scholars to have been abrogated by the inheritance verse or the Ahad hadith. It also examines his contribution to the re-interpretation of Islamic inheritance law across different religious contexts. This study is qualitative library research, focusing on Muhammad Abduh's interpretation of the will verse in his al-Manar commentary, linking his ideas to contemporary legal decisions. Secondary data sources include books, articles, journals, and relevant internet materials. The findings reveal that, according to Abduh, the will verse remains valid (muhkam), specifically for those who do not inherit from their relatives. He argues against the claim of abrogation (nasakh) for several reasons: First, the context of the verse contradicts nasakh, emphasizing that the will must take priority over inheritance. Second, the verse regarding inheritance applies specifically to non-heirs, including those excluded due to religious differences. Third, the Salaf permitted bequests to heirs, provided they were given to those in need. Fourth, the hadith "There is no will for heirs" is weak, as it lacks a reliable chain of narration.

Abstract

Abstract Natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes often hinder the normal implementation of worship, especially in terms of purification and prayer. However, the public's understanding of the leniency (rukhsah) of worship regulated in Islamic jurisprudence is still limited, including in the Tanjung Raya area, West Sumatra. This research aims to reveal the extent of public understanding of the implementation of worship in emergency conditions and how fatwas and fiqh principles can be implemented in the context of disasters. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with in-depth interview techniques with community leaders, as well as document analysis of fatwas of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and disaster fiqh literature. The results of the study show that the majority of people have the spirit of carrying out worship but have not fully understood the leniency such as tayammum, praying in unclean clothes, praying plural, or performing prayers in a state of awrah that is not completely covered. The lack of counseling and socialization is the main factor in this low understanding. Therefore, systematic disaster fiqh education is needed by religious authorities and related institutions so that people can continue to worship legally and in accordance with sharia in emergency situations. Keywords: Disaster Fiqh, Worship in Emergencies, Islamic Jurisprudence

Abstract

The phenomenon of non-voting (golput) or voter abstention in elections presents a significant challenge to democracy in Indonesia, including in the 2024 Mandailing Natal Regional Election. Low political participation can undermine the legitimacy of elected governments and hinder regional development processes. In the context of Islam, political participation can be viewed as part of the social responsibility taught in the Qur'an, which emphasizes the importance of deliberation, justice, and trustworthiness in societal life. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach with data collected through in-depth interviews with non-participating voters in the 2024 Mandailing Natal Regional Election and secondary data analysis from reports by the General Election Commission (KPU) and relevant literature. The Qur'anic perspective is examined using the thematic interpretation (maudhu’i) method, tracing verses related to political participation. The study finds that the main factors driving non-voting in Mandailing Natal include: (1) public distrust in candidates perceived as incapable of bringing change, (2) political apathy due to money politics, and (3) limited understanding of the importance of political participation in Islam. From the Qur'anic perspective, abstention can be considered contrary to the principle of shura (deliberation), as stated in QS. Ash-Shura (42:38), and the obligation to uphold justice in QS. An-Nisa (4:58).
