Abstract

Total income in Sumberjaya sub-district, West Lampung District, Lampung Province is affected by land use system composition. Amount of 150 respondents in three villages Tribudi Sukur, Sukajaya and Simpangsari had been interviewed to get the information of household income. Simulation based on land use change scenarios (scenario 1: 13°/o monoculture coffee; scenario 2: 61°/o multistrata coffee; scenario 3: 23°/o forest; scenario 4: 30% forest and scenario 5: 84% forest) were done to predict total community income in different type composition. Highest total community income occurred when 61 °/o of total area covered by agroforestry base on coffee, but the lowest income occurred when 84°/o of area covered by forest. Converting 4°/o of existing shrub and 9°/o of monoculture coffee to agroforestry base on coffee will increase 12.1°/o total income. In opposite, reforestation all Sumberjaya sub-district areas, except paddy field, horticulture land and settlement will decrease 92°/o of total income.

Abstract

Recently, Indonesia has big problem caused by dengue haemorraghic fever with A. aegypti as vector. Potential medicine and vaccine for curing this disease have not been found. The effective method to prevent this disease is the use of A. aegypti larvicidal. The chemical larvicidal has disadvantage for evironmental aspect. To solve this problem, the biological larvicidal has a good chance to develop. Indonesia has megadiversity which can be developed as biological larvicidal. Crude aqueous extracts and ethanol extracts of Jatropha curcas (Jarak pagar) seed and oil of Jatropha curcas were evaluated for larvicidal potential against the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Among all extracts, Jatropha curcas oil possessed a highest activity against the 3th instar larvae of Aedes. LC50 values of Jatropha curcas oil was 1507 ppm for 24 h and 866 ppm for 48 h. It was suggested that the Croton tiglium oil and Jatropha curcas oil possess larvicidal properties that could be developed and used as biological larvicidal.

Abstract

For producing oil remains that remained at old oil wells (mature field), a method of advanced oil acquirement improvement known as an Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) should be applied. Surfactant plays an important role in EOR process by reducing interfacial tension (1FT), altering wettability, reducing oil viscosity, and stabilizing dispersion to facilitate the process of oil jetting from reservoir to production well. To optimally cleanse oil that still remained a surfactant compatible with formation water and reservoir is needed. This study was conducted to get the best time of sulfonation process for producing MES surfactant with lower interfacialtension for EOR application. Results showed that the best times of sulfonation process with lower interfacial tension value were 3 and 4 hours.

Abstract

The need of cement industry mine material to support the requirements on agricultural land resource as livelihood is two different interest that have a potential to emerge conflict of interest on nature resource utilization. Knowing the nature and human resource potentials as well as determining the direction of utilization planning strategy for sustainable land management. Research was carried out from November 2008 - April 2009. This is a descriptive qualitative study to describe the field condition. For determining sustainable land utilizationand management priority was used AHP by pair elements comparison method. General condition explained that land utilization for ecologically agriculture commodities is on appropriate land: un-suitability (NS), marginally suitability (S-3t, and S-3gt) for seasonal plants, as well as un-suitability (NS), marginally suitability (S-3te), and moderatly suitability (S-2te) for annual plants. The agricultural, industrial, and husbandry commodities that have proper economic potential is cassava, long bean, cucumber, mangoes, wood (albasia), tapioca industry, and goats husbandry. Main job as farmers is 85 %, 83°/o don't have an own land so they need an agricultural land. It is very important for their who have livelihood as a paisant, 72°/o moreover for theirs who were in a productive age. Result of AHPto determine the direction of land utilization and management pre, post, and non mining land showed that the stakeholders group who have important role on all land condition is the corporate. Priority ecology aspect on pre and post mining, socially aspect is on non-mining land utilization and management, the main choice for non-mining land utilization and management is food plants. Although value priority of bio-fuel plantation is higher than value priority of food plants, but food plants have more useful in social and economic. Priority pre-mining land utilization and management is food plants, and post-mining is land management based on sustainable environment.

Abstract

Pamelo is one of the oranges species which have variety of form, size, colour and taste. Most of the pamelo cultivars with seeds, while part of it is seedless. The concumen prefer to chose seedles than with seed because they could consume more. The research proposed to know the morphologycal and chemical characteristics of pamelo with seed and seedless. Characteristication done in RGCI and port harvesting laboratory at IPB to the Pamelo come from Sumedang, Pati, Kudus, Magetan, Aceh and Pangkep (South Sulaewsi) in the period of April 2009 until July 2010. The result of research shown that several pamelo seedless cultivars have pyriform, while other with seed have spheroid form. A few fruit from pamelo seedless cultivars have sweet taste until less taste, with pH of its juice vary from 6.2-6.3, except Jawa cultivar which have pH 4 which its total tertiration acid is 0.47- 0.50 g/g, PTT 9.8- 11.0 ( 0brix), PTT/ATT 19,5-25,3. Vitamine C content 38-48.2 mg/100 g and narigin content from 118,3-1063,2 mg/ml, while pamelo with seed have taste sweet acid, with fruit juice pH 3.7 - 4.7, except "red bali 1", which have pH 6.0, ATT 0,35 - 0,59 g/g, PTT 8.7 - 11.3 ( 0brix), PTT/ATT 16.9 - 24.6, vita mine C content 28.6 - 43.8 and narigin content 55.2 - 461.2 mg/ml.

Abstract

Spatial planning must perform protection on socioeconomic and ecological functions of space, and prevent negative impacts of space utilization on the environment. Constraints on such spatial planning increase continuously. In the Jadebotabek Region 2003 to 2006, flood-risky households increased with annual rate more than four times economic growth. This research aimed to determine strategic spatial planning instruments to control flood risks, by using Spatial Durbin Modeling approach. The model specifies explanatory variables into local and external. Local variables give effects as in a conventional regression model, while external variables give effects in a given pattern represented by a spatial contiguity matrix. Principal Components Analysis was employed to reduce multicollinearities among variables. Test and parameter estimation of the model were employed by using Forward Stepwise General Regression Model with ANOVA-Iike design and Sigma-Restricted Parametrization. Research area was Jadebotabek Region year 2003 excluding Kepulauan Seribu, constituted 12 districts and sevent watersheds. Measurement units were administrative regions at village level (1.488 units). The model fit to the data very significantly (R2=0.84; p<.

Abstract

Biscuit is one of feed wich is forming by heating and pressing that can be reduce size and volume of forage, so its easy to handling and storage. The objective of this study was to produce corn leaf and field grass to be biscuit form as a commercial feed ruminant and was to evaluate biscuit feeding of corn leaf and field grass for feed intake, body weight gain and feed efficiency of sheep. This research divided in two phases, i.e. production of Corn Plant Waste Biscuit and productivity feed biscuit technology in field scale (MT Farm Ciampea) on April-November 2010. Experimental diets for the second phase used Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments dan  3 replications were T1 = biscuit (100% field grass); T2 = biscuit (50% field grass + 50% corn leaf); T3 = biscuit (100% corn leaf). The second phase of experimental used the best biscuits treatment in the first phase. The average of biscuit machine production capacity was 8.6 kg/h with the production cost of Rp 1072,-/kg. The results showed that biscuit of corn leaf 100% had best nutrient quality with crude protein 17.97%, crude fiber 28.20%, crude fat 1.09% and BETN 40.99%. Mean while, physic quality test showed that water content was 13.10%, water activity was 0.866%, density was 0.529 g/ cm3, and water absorption capacity was 78.58%. Productivity test on sheep fed field grass and corn leaf biscuit showed that nutrient quality analysis showed that best quality was corn leaves biscuit with Corn leaves biscuit fed has significant efficiency on dry matter intake (P<0.05) with was the highest value (263.18 g/head/day). The average of body weight gain of sheep fed with corn leaf biscuit was 61.90 g/head/day  or 44.60% higher than sheep fed with field grass. The highest cost efficiency of sheep fed with corn leaf biscuit was Rp. 139.080,-. Demonstration plots on Subur Jaya Farm, Darmaga for 5 weeks showed that the highest IOFC on the sheeps fed biscuit than field grass.

Abstract

Replacement of non-fragrant-native badh2 gene with mutated badh2 of fragrant rice is an alternative to engineer new fragrant rice varieties with good agronomic traits as those of non-fragrant. Fragrant gene (mutated badh2) of Mentik wangi donor was introgressed into non-fragrant Ciherang host through site-directed crossing. Mentik Wangi was crossed with Ciherang, and the progeny was further backcross until BC3F1. Bradbury marka-assisted PCR was used to select progeny in every cross and backcross generation. Ciherang, Mentik Wangi, and their cross/backcross showed different PCR profiles. The statues of badh2 gene (native/mutated), as well as alleles (homozygote/heterozygote) between samples were identified. Mutated badh2-introgression was also observed within the selected heterozygote cross or backcross progenies (Fl, BCl, BC2, and BC3), indicated successful transfer of mutated badh2 gene from donor to host.
