Abstract

ABSTRACT Jamu is a traditional medicine with nutritious plants that can reduce joint pain.  The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Jamu to reduce joint pain. This research design uses pre-experimental with one-time case study.  The research samples involved ten women with different age groups in consecutive months consuming Jamu. Data analysis using observation sheet VAS (Visual Analog Scale) and binomial test with IBM SPSS 26. The results of the binomial test showed a p-value of .021 < alfa .05 which means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted.  It’s showed that there is an effect of Jamu on joint pain reduction. The findings of this study found that within three days, the respondents felt changes in their joints and their bodies felt healthier It is concluded that Jamu contains herbs in maintaining health and relieving pain.

Abstract

The aim of the health promotion is to increase awareness and the individual willingness to have a healthy life for everyone to achieve an optimal degree of public health. The government’s programs in improving positive behavior and reproductive health in the community, especially maternal and infant health, is one of the priorities. Current health problems are focused on the high rates of maternal and infant mortality. This is related to the lack of preparation for couples before marriage and family such as early marriage. The government's initiative to declare pre-marriage as a condition for marriage in 2020 must be socialized and supported by all parties. This research is a descriptive study that aims to describe people's behavior about reproductive health, especially the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents. youths and girls about reproductive health in Medan Johor District. The population is all young people and girls in the Medan Johor sub-district. The sample of teenagers and young people gathered in the Karang Taruna Medan Johor region. Data collection using a questionnaire, which consists of demographic data, knowledge data, and attitudes related to reproductive health. Univariate data analysis used distribution and presentation frequency. The results of the research on knowledge of youth and girls about reproductive health are generally in the low category, namely around 56.4%. The negative attitude is around 62.2%. Health workers must be able to optimize their role in providing health education to the public, especially about reproductive health.

Abstract

Family member with mental illness causes inferiority, shamefulness, and minimal function in the community.  In some cases, mentally ill patients withdrawn from interaction and refuse to communicate.  The objective of the research was to analyze the correlation between self-esteem and social interaction in the family with mentally ill patients in Kelurahan Medan Sunggal, Medan. This was a descriptive quantitative study with correlation method. The samples were 18 family members who suffered from a mental disorder, with purposive sampling technique. The data collection using questionnaires and data analyses is undergone with univariate analysis and frequency distribution.  The bivariate analysis applied Spearman's Rho test. The result of the research showed that 15 respondents (83.3%) had high self-esteem and 11 respondents (61.1%) had a good social interaction. There was a significant correlation between self-esteem and social interaction in a family with a mentally ill patient (P-value = 0.012) with positive direction (r = 0.576). It is concluded that a high self-esteem correlates well with the social interaction among the family members with mental illness. It is recommended for family members to maintain their self-esteem and social interaction capacity. A mentally disorder person should get social support from family, health care providers, the government, and society.

Abstract

Woman tend to treat the breast during the puerperium (breastfeeding period) to streamline the breastfeeding process. It’s due to maximize the breast function as the only producer of breast milk, and found good for newborns. This study aims to determine the knowledge of mothers about breast care using a cross-sectional study design. The sampling method used was purposive sampling with a sample size of 41 respondents and the tools used in data collection were questionnaires. The results of this study showed that the majority of mothers with high school education with a focus on taking care of the household had a sufficient level of knowledge in carrying out breast care, around 58,5% as many as 24 mothers. It is hoped that health workers can further improve education about breast care by frequently providing information such as counseling at health centers or when implementing Posyandu and carrying out cross-sectoral cooperation to increase maternal knowledge about breast care.

Abstract

    Breast milk contains substance known as IgA for the defense system in digestive tract against infection. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and working mothers with exclusive breastfeeding in Sidomulyo, Stabat. The type of research used is a descriptive analytic survey using a cross sectional study. The sampling technique used accidental sampling with 150 as population and 30 people is involved as the research sample.  The data analysis applied chi square test to determine the relationship between two variables. The results of this study revealed that there is a relationship between mother's knowledge of exclusive breast feeding with a significant level (ɑ) = 5% (0.05) and df = 2, the result is value = 0.026 at df = 2 where sig <ɑ (0.026 < 0.05) then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.  Therefore, mothers are advised to continue to provide exclusive breastfeeding to their babies even though they work by storing breast milk in the refrigerator.

Abstract

Cesarean sections (C-sections) associated with an increased risk of atopic disorders in infants. Late preterm infants born by C-sections tend to have more breathing problems especially Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). RDS is one of the most common causes of respiratory morbidity and mortality in late preterm infants. Respiratory Distress Syndrome is one of the main causes of respiratory failure and neonatal death in premature infants and is caused by a lack of pulmonary surfactant due to fetal lung immaturity. The objectives of this research are to analyze the relationship between cesarean delivery and respiratory distress syndrome in late preterm infants. This type of research uses a type of quantitative research. The study design is a retrospective cohort study with a study cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study were 155 late preterm infants. This research was conducted in January-April 2019 in the Prof. DR. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. The analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis using The Chi-square test. The results of this study showed there is a significant relationship between C-sections and respiratory distress syndrome from p-value of 0.013 (> 0.05). Based on the results of this study, nurses are expected to recognize that C-sections delivery one of the risk factors of RDS in late preterm infants.

Abstract

Knowledge is the result of know that going after someone makes a sensing of a particular object. While the attitude of the views or feelings that accompanied the tendency to act. If knowledge of a person's behavior, the better it would be even better. However, knowledge is either not accompanied with the attitude that knowledge would be meaningless. This study aims to describe a family of knowledge on the prevention of falls in older adults and family attitudes about the prevention of the incidence of falls in older adults at Kelurahan Pahlawan Binjai. This study was used a descriptive design with a purposive sampling technique involving 71 respondents conducted in April 2012. All respondents answered a questionnaire that was given to the respondents.

Abstract

At this time many elderly suffer from chronic diseases so that their spiritual needs need attention. This study aims to determine the spiritual description of the elderly who suffer from chronic diseases in the Social Service Unit for the Elderly Children under five in Binjai and Medan areas. The research design used was descriptive with a sample size of 64 people with purposive sampling method. The instrument used was a questionnaire prepared using a Likert scale. This research was conducted on 28 November to 19 December 2014. The characteristics of the respondents and the spiritual description of the elderly who suffer from chronic diseases are described by descriptive analysis to determine the frequency and percentage. The results showed, the characteristics of male respondents were 51.6%, aged 60-70 years 57.8%, Islam 95.3%, not going to school 59.4% Spiritual description of the elderly who suffer from chronic disease is quite good (56 people, 87.5%), the elderly who say good (8 people, 12.5%). To be able to undergo a declining health condition due to diseases suffered by the elderly, it is hoped that all parties, both families, health workers understand the spiritual needs of the elderly so that the elderly can accept their conditions, socialize with those around them, enjoy the natural beauty of their surroundings, and believe that God will give strength in living his condition.
