Abstract

The condition of world hunger is very unequal on every continent. The Asian continent is a continent that has a serious famine area after the African continent. This is exacerbated by the food crisis due to the increase in world food prices caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which is one of the world's suppliers of sunflower, corn, and wheat oil. FAO has mobilized efforts to improve food security and reduce hunger. However, in increasing food production, it also faces the challenge of the climate crisis. In the face of these challenges, FAO has suggested increasing agricultural investment. Therefore, this study aims to determine and analyze the influence of the climate crisis and agricultural investment in Asian countries by using gross domestic product and food inflation as control variables. To investigate the influence of agricultural investment and the climate crisis on food security, the researcher used a quantitative approach with balanced panel data for 42 countries on the Asian continent for the period 2002-2022 using a regression panel. The results showed that the climate crisis with indicators of temperature change and the intensity of extreme events such as drought and flood had a significant negative effect on food security, but changes in rainfall patterns did not affect food security. Other results show that agricultural investment has a significant positive effect on food security.

Abstract

The development of the tobacco commodity that still relies on traditional cultivation methods without technological innovation threatens productivity and quality. Therefore, improving cultivation methods through adopting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) is essential to address this issue. The adoption of GAP in Colomadu District remains relatively low. This study analyzes the factors influencing tobacco farmers' decisions to adopt GAP in Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency. This study uses a quantitative method with a survey technique. The research location was purposively determined in Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency. The sample consisted of 30 heads of families, selected using simple random sampling. Logistic regression analysis using IBM SPSS 29 was conducted to analyze the data. The results showed that 67% of the respondent farmers (20 heads of families) did not adopt GAP, while the remaining 33% (10 heads of families) had adopted GAP. The study also found that the nature of innovation partially significantly influenced tobacco farmers' decisions to adopt GAP, whereas communication channels, social systems and promotional efforts by agricultural extension workers had no significant partial effect on tobacco farmers' decisions to adopt GAP.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the problems and development of dodol pangi product marketing in small and medium enterprises in Soppeng Regency, South Sulawesi. Dodol pangi is a processed pangi fruit product that has high economic potential but is still limited to the local market. This study uses the agrosystem development planning analysis method (APPAS), which includes analysis of situations, problems, goals, and business development planning. The results of the study show that the main problems faced are low sales, which are caused by limited marketing areas, low packaging quality, and lack of promotion and understanding of digital marketing. In addition, product quality is also affected by the use of production equipment that is still manual. This study designs a series of actions to improve marketing, including improving the ability of human resources in digital marketing, redesigning packaging by including halal labels, composition, nutritional value, and expiration dates, as well as the procurement of more modern production equipment. The implementation of marketing strategies through social media, e-commerce, and exhibitions is expected to expand the market and increase product demand. Based on calculations, by implementing these actions, it is hoped that turnover and net income can increase significantly, reaching the sales target of 3000 packs per month and net income of around IDR 20,000,000. This research contributes to the development of agro-industrial marketing strategies based on superior local products at the small and medium enterprise levels.
