Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance SMEs' understanding of trade zakat and improve their compliance with zakat obligations in Malang City. Using a quantitative approach and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the study analyzes data collected from SME owners in Malang. The program addresses key factors influencing willingness to pay zakat, including entrepreneurs’ attitudes, zakat literacy, and the role of zakat administrators. The program consists of training sessions that cover the importance and potential of trade zakat, the Fiqh of zakat on trade, and practical methods for calculating and paying zakat. The findings highlight that zakat administration significantly impact SMEs’ willingness to pay zakat, while attitudes toward zakat and religiosity also play crucial roles. Additionally, the results show that attitude and zakat literacy do not affect SMEs’ willingness to pay zakat. The program’s evaluation demonstrates that strengthening zakat literacy and improving zakat administration can encourage SMEs to fulfil their zakat obligations, contributing to poverty alleviation and socio-economic development. These findings offer valuable insights for optimizing zakat collection and utilization to maximize its potential in supporting community welfare.

Abstract

Financial inclusion plays a crucial role in improving the economic resilience of smallholder farmers, particularly in rural areas with limited access to formal financial services. This community engagement program aimed to enhance financial literacy and promote fintech adoption among coffee farmers in Lembang. The initiative included structured training sessions, fintech demonstrations, and collaboration with agricultural cooperatives to ensure sustainable financial education. The results indicated a significant improvement in farmers’ understanding of financial management, budgeting, and digital financial tools. Many participants successfully adopted mobile banking, digital payments, and fintech-based lending solutions, reducing their reliance on informal credit sources. The involvement of cooperatives facilitated the dissemination of financial knowledge beyond the initial participants, contributing to long-term sustainability. However, challenges such as digital literacy gaps among older farmers and limited internet infrastructure in remote areas were identified as barriers to widespread fintech adoption. To address these issues, continuous financial literacy programs, mentorship initiatives, and infrastructure improvements are recommended. This study highlights the potential of fintech solutions in bridging financial access gaps and empowering rural farmers with better financial decision-making capabilities. Future initiatives should focus on expanding fintech services to include agricultural insurance and investment options, ensuring a more comprehensive approach to financial inclusion in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

Rapid technological advances provide opportunities for MSME actors to improve services to customers through digital platforms, such as e-commerce. The use of technology in the online buying and selling system not only expands the market, but also has the potential to increase business income. Unfortunately, many MSME actors still do not understand how to optimize digital technology for their business development. This lack of understanding is an obstacle to implementing accounting information systems integrated with fintech, thus hindering business growth. To overcome these challenges, the community service program in Entrop Ward, Jayapura City, is designed to increase financial literacy for MSME actors, especially native Papuan mothers who sell areca nuts. This activity includes education and practical training related to financial management and the use of financial technology in recording business transactions. With this program, participants are expected to be more independent in managing finances and optimizing technology to support the development of their businesses. A total of 16 participants, who are areca nut sellers, participated in this activity. The results of the evaluation showed an increase in their understanding of financial records, both manually and through the Buku Warung application. These findings confirm that an educative approach and practice-based training are effective in helping MSME actors understand and apply financial technology for the sustainability of their businesses.

Abstract

Stunting and anemia are quite serious public health problems, especially in areas with high poverty rates and limited access to health services. Several contributing factors include lack of knowledge about nutrition, unbalanced diets, and limited access to health services. One of the factors that contributes to stunting is anemia in pregnant women. Given these conditions, efforts are needed to increase public understanding of anemia and stunting and prevent stunting from pregnancy. These efforts were realized through health education activities carried out in September 2023 in Sukasirnarasa Village, Sumedang Regency, West Java. Participants were 10 posyandu cadres and pregnant women. The service activity was in the form of education about iron deficiency anemia. The success of this activity was evaluated through measuring achievement indicators using a pretest and posttest with a true-false test type. The evaluation results showed an increase in participant understanding by 15.7% after participating in the education. This increase indicates that health education activities regarding stunting prevention through anemia prevention in pregnant women have been successfully implemented and achieved the expected goals..
