Abstract

The street is an important city attribute that can reveal the existence of other city attributes that have meaning. Vegetation as one of the elements of the street or more precisely the green street can present a touch of life and beauty through its diversity of forms, and trees are a form of vegetation that is easily recognized because of their size. On the other side, Kabupaten Garut is a developing area that is building and repairing city infrastructure, especially street infrastructure. Identification and analysis of the function of street trees in Kabupaten Garut and its surrounding areas are necessary to optimize the effectiveness of the green street function. This study aims to identify and analyze the function of existing street trees according to the street tree planting criteria. The method used includes program development, site selection, and analysis to the conclusion. At the analysis stage, the identification results are described descriptively by reviewing the results of other similar studies. Meanwhile, the functional analysis is carried out based on the assessment of each identified tree species. The identification results showed that the number of trees planted was inadequate, but varied based on the types. The most common street tree function is visual quality, and the road that meets the most functional criteria is Jalan Ottista segment 2.

Abstract

Situ Cicadas, which is located in Cicadas Village, Bogor Regency, has a high tourism potential, but its landscape management is not at its best. Many local residents use Situ Cicadas as a recreational place for fishing and also relaxing. However, at the same time it is also used as a disposal site by all the commercial factories that settled in Cicadas Village. Therefore, a proper and sustainable “situ” landscape management is needed in Cicadas Village, Gunung Putri District, Bogor Regency. The purpose of this study was to analyze the biophysical characteristics of Situ Cicadas, to analyze the community’s preferences and participation of Situ Cicadas’ landscape management and usage, also to suggest a proper and sustainable landscape management of Situ Cicadas. The biophysical characteristics analysis method used in this study is the Tirta Budaya Situ criteria assessment method. The community preference analysis method used in this study is simple statistical analysis, while the community participation analysis uses a Likert scale analysis. The formulation of a landscape management strategy is analyzed using a SWOT analysis approach. This research succeeded in developing five strategies for sustainable Situ Cicadas landscape management.

Abstract

Kendari City adopts the green city concept; however, urban development has led to population growth and residential expansion, resulting in the degradation of Green Space quantity. In 2024, the population reached 98% of the previous year total, while residential areas expanded by 122.44 ha, reducing the accessibility of public green space. This study aims to evaluate public Green Space spatially through accessibility analysis and user perception. The research employs a qualitative method supported by quantitative data. Data collection techniques include interviews, questionnaires, surveys, observations, and documentation. Respondents were selected using stratified random sampling, targeting individuals aged 18–55 years from each district. Questionnaire data were analyzed using Pearson Chi-square (X²) correlation, while spatial analysis applied the non-parametric bivariate t-test to examine variable relationships. The findings indicate that key factors influencing public green space usage include landscape planning that considers greenery, economic value, culture, aesthetics, safety and health. Connectivity with public facilities and residential areas should be improved through adequate transportation infrastructure. In addition, traffic aspects must be addressed to accommodate working-age groups and recreational purposes. The final evaluation synthesizes spatial and perceptual analyses into landscape planning recommendations to enhance the quality and accessibility of public green space in Kendari City.

Abstract

Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world including Indonesia. However, the development of soccer in Indonesia has been delayed, one of the causes is the lack of soccer sports facilities. The management of soccer stadiums in Indonesia still pays little attention to proper treatment to grow turfgrass in accordance with international standards from FIFA. Another type of grass that can be used as an alternative to soccer stadium turfgrass in Indonesia is Japanese grass (Zoysia japonica), this type of grass is chosen because it has pointed leaves so it will not be quickly damaged by soccer shoe spool. Therefore, this study aims to determine the characteristics of Zoysia japonica with various management, especially on the use of shade and the effect of auxin hormone administration which can be used as a reference recommendation for improving grass quality and grass management suitable for soccer stadiums in Indonesia. This study used a Split Plot design with two factors. The results showed that the interaction of shade treatment and auxin hormone had a very significant effect on all observation parameters. In an environment with 70% shade, Zoysia japonica can still survive, but its growth will be better if given 100% auxin hormone.

Abstract

Asia-Afrika colonial heritage area is facing flood proneness that is influenced by Cikapundung River hydrological problem and increasing rainfall. The study aims to examine causal process of Asia-Afrika flood phenomenon, recommend possible implementation of landscape-based solution to mainly enhance local-scale fluvial and pluvial flood resilience, and predict possible impacts of those recommendations. Water resilience concept and historical review of cultural heritage is the basis of the study, while causal process is analyzed by Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) method. DPSIR analysis identifies that impermeable land cover around Cikapundung upstream riverbanks, embankment failure debris, lack of water absorption function, and drainage system inadequacy for surface water runoff contributes as the cause of ankle-high flood in Asia-Afrika heritage area. Landscape-based recommendations for flood control are divided into planning and design scope, which are then focused on the implementation of stormwater street systems and riparian naturalization. Provided green areas can enhance physical and psychological quality. Green-blue infrastructure as flood-controlling element can reduce the cost allocation for post-disaster handling. Green space provision, riparian space allocation, and flood control elements can lead to some consequences, such as limited public space activities and relocation of affected inhabitants, indicating the complexity of social issues in the flood problem assessment.

Abstract

Kapuas Hulu District is the upstream region of West Kalimantan Province, one of the districts with most of the area being a protected area, or 76% being a forest area (National Park, Protected Forest, and Production Forest). Obviously, the approach to spatial planning in Kapuas Hulu District is different from other regions that have smaller protected areas. Sustainable production is the basis for spatial utilization in Kapuas Hulu District. A jurisdictional approach to sustainable production areas is a suitable concept, as it holistically considers the economic, ecological, and social context within a landscape. Sustainable production areas are designed to simultaneously conserve important ecosystems, establish sustainable agricultural production, and improve the living conditions of local residents. The objective of this research is strategic recommendations and implementation of increased consideration of sustainability aspects in the spatial plan review process. The method used in this study involves a mixed approach that combines qualitative and quantitative methods to obtain comprehensive results. The analysis used is the Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) technique. The results of this study are strategic directions for spatial utilization based on the principles, criteria, and indicators of spatial planning, making it easier to carry out monitoring and evaluation and to ensure that the principles of sustainability are implemented.

Abstract

The rapid urbanisation and population growth in Bogor City has significantly decreased green open spaces from 1,982.23 ha in 2009 to 784.74 ha in 2021. This study aims to assess the extent of vegetation, land surface temperature (LST), and urban heat island (UHI) in Bogor City in 2023 spatially and develop recommendations for green open spaces development to mitigate UHI effects. Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS satellite imagery from July 20, 2023, was used to calculate the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), LST, and UHI intensity. The relationship between vegetation indices and LST was analyzed using RStudio to determine the required green open spaces area for reducing surface temperatures. Results showed that regions with high vegetation density had lower LST than urban areas. The UHI intensity in Bogor City was quantified by comparing urban and non urban temperatures using a 5 km buffer zone. Regression analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between vegetation indices and LST. The findings suggest that increasing green open spaces through strategic planning and development can effectively mitigate UHI effects in Bogor City, improving urban environmental quality and residents' well-being.

Abstract

The temples of the Singosari kingdom function as places of worship for Hindu-Buddhist believers, educational facilities for the introduction of the history of the Singosari kingdom, architectural buildings, local community culture, landscape plants, and historical attractions. The existence of several temples of the Singosari kingdom that are scattered in several areas of Malang regency as potential historical tourism has not been followed by the planning of android application-based interpretation paths. The research objective was to plan a model of the Singosari kingdom temple tourism area landscape interpretation path based on an android application. The research method used in general was descriptive quantitative. The research location was carried out in the landscape of Kidal Temple, Jago Temple, Singosari Temple, and Sumberawan Temple. Research analysis through spatial analysis, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) analysis, analysis of tourist perceptions and preferences, and visual landscape analysis. The results showed that the landscape of Kidal Temple, Jago Temple, Singosari Temple, and Sumberawan Temple has the potential to be developed as a historical tourism area landscape. Planning is made based on the analysis of tourism potential, distance, and visit time that can be traveled by tourists in one visit to the specified object. The interpretive path planning model is the regional tour pattern. The regional tour pattern model is a travel pattern developed from the main destination because there are different tourist attractions located in close proximity. The interpretation path is divided into two tour packages, namely day visits and two-day visits.

Abstract

Bandar Lampung is one of the major cities on the island of Sumatra that seeks to fulfill the availability of Green Open Space (GOS). Based on 2024 statistical data, Bandar Lampung only has 601.08 ha of GOS (3.05% of the total city area), so Bandar Lampung still needs 26.95% of GOS target to fulfill the 30% GOS target as mandated by Law No. 26 of 2007 concerning Spatial Planning. The innovative paradigm of GOS has been adapted by the Regulation of the Minister of ATR / BPN Number 14 of 2022 concerning the Provision and Utilization of Green Open Space, that GOS does not only consist of green space but also non-green open space (NGOS) and blue open space (BOS) through GOS typology and fulfillment of quantity and quality through the Indonesia Green-Blue Index (IGBI). The purpose of this research is to evaluate the green space of Bandar Lampung City using IGBI to maximize the available urban space in fulfilling the availability of quantity and quality of green space. This research went through three main stages, i.e., (1) qualitative data collection of related regulations and policies; (2) spatial analysis of the city's Regional Spatial Plan map; and (3) synthesis in the form of GOS typology classification then calculating the quantity and quality of GOS using IGBI. Based on the results of the analysis of the spatial pattern plan map of the Bandar Lampung City Spatial Plan 2021-2041, it is known that there are four main typologies of green spaces in Bandar Lampung. The results of the calculation of the quantity and quality of GOS with IGBI obtained the area of GOS in the spatial pattern plan is equivalent to 8,400.13 m2 or equivalent to 46% of the entire area of Bandar Lampung. Improving the quality of GOS to suit its typology can be done by fulfilling the minimum area of green cover, completeness of vegetation stratification, recommended non-green cover, BOS, and several facilities as required by its typology.

Abstract

Amid increasing pressures from tourism and modernization threatening the cological and cultural integrity of the Baduy Luar community, this study explores the development of an ecovillage landscape in Ciboleger-Kaduketug 1, Baduy Luar. The focus is on sustainable practices that align with local cultural values. The objective is to establish a model that preserves indigenous knowledge while enhancing ecological resilience, cultural continuity, and economic viability in the region. A quantitative and descriptive approach was applied. The research involved field observations, semi-structured interviews with purposively selected key informants, including community leaders, elders, and active practitioners of Baduy traditions, as well as literature analysis. The sample included key ecological elements (e.g. endemic vegetation) and cultural-economic actors, with purposive sampling used based on knowledge relevance and social roles. Results indicate high ecological sustainability (97%), supported by native vegetation and traditional land-use practices that demonstrate the community effective ecological stewardship. Social and cultural sustainability scored lower (48%) due to external influences impacting traditional lifestyles, indicating an urgent need for strategies that strengthen cultural identity and traditional governance. Economic sustainability achieved a relatively high score (86%), with opportunities identified in eco-cultural tourism, local crafts, and agroforestry-based income streams. These findings form the empirical basis for a proposed ecovillage development model, structured around culturally grounded spatial zoning, resource governance, and integrated livelihood strategies. The study contributes to sustainable rural development literature by offering a site-specific, replicable model for indigenous communities that harmonizes environmental stewardship with cultural and economic resilience. This model presents valuable insights for other rural and traditional communities aiming to achieve sustainability without compromising cultural heritage.
