Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of liquid smoke from Laban wood for controlling fungi that cause damping off on pine seeds and to determine the optimal concentration and temperature of pyrolysis of liquid smoke from Laban wood. The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Wood Technology, Faculty of Forestry, University of Tanjungpura Pontianak. Mucor sp is the species of fungi which used to in vitro test to determine the inhibition value. Research using RAL Factorial methods with two treatment factors, first treatment factor is the concentration of liquid smoke from Laban wood with 5 levels i.e. 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. The second treatment  factor  is the temperature of the pyrolysis liquid smoke of Laban wood with 3 levels i.e. 350ºC, 400ºC and 450ºC.  Five replicates are conducted for all treatments. Tests carried out using a PDA medium mixed with liquid smoke from Laban wood with each concentration. Results of research  showed that the concentration of liquid smoke from Laban wood is very significant effect on the inhibition of the growth of the fungus Mucor sp. Meanwhile the pyrolysis temperature and the interaction of liquid smoke from Laban wood had no significant effect. Liquid smoke from Laban wood at a concentration of 10% with a pyrolysis temperature of 400°C is the best treatment because it can inhibited the growth of fungal Mucor sp. with the highest value (96.33%). This antifungal activity rate fulfills the very strong category inhibition. Liquid smoke from Laban wood can be used as biopesticide to overcome damping off fungi on Pine seed. Keywords : Laban wood, Mucor sp., liquid smoke, damping off,  Pinus merkusii

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the diversity of diurnal birds at Mangrove Bay Area Preserves Teluk Besar Parit Kelabu the of this research will provide data and information about the diversity of diurnal birds in the area, so it can be used as a basis in avian wildlife conservation efforts in the areal. The study was conducted at the Mangrove Bay Preserves Teluk Besar Parit Kelabu Kubu Raya regency of West Kalimantan, using the strip method combined with point count method.Broadband observations made 5 (five) placed randomly strip length of 200 meters with a bandwidth of observation 50 meters (25 meters to 25 meters left and right), with a path length of 200 meters. Where observation time that is in the morning starting at 5:30 to 7:30, daylight hours 13:00 to 14:30 and 16:30 to 18:00 o'clock afternoon. The results found 27 types of diurnal birds that are classified into 16 tribes (family). The composition of the bird species most often found in the morning is kind Gajahan East (Numenius madagascariensis) with a total of 65, the day of the East Gajahan (Numenius madagascariensis) with a total of 42, and the afternoon is Species diversity index, with the highest values found in the morning with a value = 1.3467, based on the composition of insectivorous bird species feed as much as 23%, 44% fish eaters and fruit eaters / plant as much as 33%. The similarity index between path between 90.74% -100%. Keyword : Diversity, diurnal bird species, protecting mangrove forest

It is located in the village Telogah. That potential spot for tourism is called Riam Asam Telogah. Riam Asam Telogah has potential tourist attraction to visit, but until present time, there are no related agencies interested in developing that place for touris destination due to lack of specific Information relating to potential tourist destination in details. This study aims to assess the potential attractiveness of Riam Asam Telogah in Sanggau regency, West Kalimantan Province, for ecotourism. In The method used in this study is a scoring method based on the standard assessment of nature attraction and nature conservation PHKA 2003. The study used data collection with questionnaire and direct observation in the field. The result of study showed an average score of 716,29 obtained from the area of Riam Asam Telogah which earns score score of A meaning that Riam Asam Telogah is potential to develop as a nature tourism or ecotourism. Abstract

society with mangrove forest ecosystem and brackish forest ecosystem that raises the existence of public awareness in preserving the function of mangrove forest and brackish forest. The method used is survey method with descriptive associative and used interview techniques with instrument a questionnaire. There are two types of data analysis namely  descriptive analysis used to see the general description characteristic of respondents and the level of public awareness and inferential analysis used to know different levels of income people who worked as fishermen and does not worked as fishermen by using independent sample t-test and  to know the factors that affect the level of public awareness by using multiple linear regression models. The level of public awareness coastal in preserving function mangrove forest and brackish forest is tend high. The results of independent sample t-test indicated there was no significant difference between the average income levels of  people who worked as fishermen with an average income levels of people who does not worked  as fishermen. Based on the analysis used multiple linear regression models was knowledge variables and cosmopolitan variables significantly influence the level of public awareness, while age variables, income variables, and perceptons variable were not significantly influence the level of public awareness. Abstract

Common wood that used as a building material perceived increasingly difficult to obtain now. Therefore the need for efforts to overcome this condition partly by utilizing low quality wood (IV-V) like Mahang (Macaranga hypoleuca (Reichb.f.et Zoll.) M.A) in which quality can be improved by densification. There are two factors that have conducted in this research, first is steam time (40 minutes, 60 minutes and 80 minutes) and second one is temperature felts (160oC, 180oC and 200oC). Samples was made from Mahang beam with dimension is 30 cm (L) x 8 cm (W) x 4 cm (H), steamed in autoclave with temperature 120oC and hot pressed with a 30% target thicknes, the pressure felt 60 kg/cm2. Physical and mechanical process was conducted based on British Standard Methods No.373 (1957). The measured parameters are physical properties (moisture content, density and dimensional changes) and mechanical properties (MOE, MOR and MCS). Experimental designed that use in this research is 3x3 Factorial Experimental Design in a Completely Randomized Design with 3 replications. As the results of the research show that densification Mahang wood was improve the physical and mechanical properties. This research also showed that best densified treatment is 60 minute steamed with temperature felt 180oC. Keywords :      Macaranga hypoleuca (Reichb.f.et Zoll.)
