Abstract

In this research, which led to the positive people’s atittude tovillage forest of working area designation is the high level of public knowledge about the forest villages so that they know and understand about the function and benefits of village forest. this is evidenced at the time of the study, the villagers nanga betung very cooperative and willing to be invited discussion on the village forest. People who have a view or a good opinion of the importance of the activities of village forest will be positive perception about the functions and benefits of forest villages, public perception of the policy village forest of working area designation and public perception of management institutional of village forest compared to people who have a perception of neutral and negative. The knowledge that they can be through outreach and facilitation of village forest, accompanied by the Forestry Service and the NGO / LSM, leaflets by relevant agencies, and other sources so that they understand about the village forest of working area designation. From the discussion to the respondents, in general perceive that management institutions of village forest which have LPHD (Lembaga Pengelola Hutan Desa). That is, unconsciously people already perceive that the village forest is managed for a purpose because there is managers of institution. They are also involved in the preparation of strategic plans in the coming 1-5 years. Respondents who answered neutral and negative that the person concerned is a citizen who is not involved in LPHD or do not feel part of LPHD. Abstract

Ethno-ornithology utilized to document traditional knowledge of the community, who have used the services of various bird species to support life, for example as a source of food, traditional medicine, traditional rituals, crafts, religious, and social life. The research objective is to explore forms of local wisdom relating to bird and bird species used to know the community and has values ​​of local wisdom in Pematang Gadung’s Village Ketapang. Based on the results of the study found as many as 45 species of birds as a form of local wisdom, classified into 22 families (family), 18 species of birds included in the protected category under the Act, CITES and IUCN. Only 28 species were found at the time of observation. Based on usability, quality value that is most widely used as a myth, while the little used that as a result of analysis using indicator. Cultural Values ​​Index, the highest cultural values ​​derived from species that have become a kind of domestication is Gallus domesticus (Gallus sp) with a score of 60 and score value ICS 3, while the value of the lowest cultural interests acquired from bird species Ixobrychus cinnamomeus value cultural interests 0.25 which means to have a score of 1.   Key Words : Bird, etno-ornithology and local wisdom

Abstract

The increasing demand for wood every years is not balanced with the availability of raw materials in nature, especially high-quality wood. Hence the need for an effort to partially overcome this condition by using low quality wood (III-IV) such as Gerunggang wood (Cratoxylon arborescen Bl). Samples were made of Gerunggang wood with size of 30 cm x 8 cm  x 4 cm with a target of 30% reduction in thickness. Physical and mechanical properties testing refers to the British Standard Methods 373 (1957). Parameters measured were color and touch impression, water content, density, dimensional changes, MOE, MOR and MCS). This research used  factorial experiment in a random design complete with  2 factors. Factor A steaming time (50 minutes, 60 minutes and 70 minutes) and factor B pressing time (40 minutes, 60 minutes and 80 minutes) each made 3 times repeats. The results showed Gerunggang wood was densification by steaming and pressing time produce physical and mechanical properties better. The best treatment in this research were at the steaming time treatment 60 minutes and 80 minutes pressing time. Keywords :  Cratoxylon arborescen Bl, densification, physical and mechanical.
