Abstract

Forest deforestation caused loss of habitat for endangered species. Changes in forest into oil palm plantation by PT Bumi Pratama Khatulistiwa (BPK) resulted in many conflicts with the community and make the loss of conservation value. Studies on areas that have a high conservation value necessary to maintain the stability of the clearing of forests to the environment is sustainable. Geographic information system technology (GIS) field of conservation is able to provide spatial information, determine the species habitat, analysis to find protected areas and mapping out areas of biodiversity.  The purpose of this study to determine the ability of GIS technology in providing information for the early identification of areas with high conservation value and determine which area has high conservation value (HCV) in the concession area of PT BPK and surrounding villages. Research was conducted for two months.  The research results show that GIS has enormous benefits in mapping out areas of high conservation value. Work on a large scale can be easily done and also save time, effort and cost. Location HCV 1 overlapping with the HCV 3 and 4 which are in the river, riparian and peat swamp forests. Location NKT 2 was not found, because most of the research area is an open area, there is no broad landscape. Location HCV 5 was not found, because most people in the study area does not depend anymore with natural forests.  Oil palm plantations PT BPK give people easy access to the city, to buy daily necessities. Location HCV 6 is located within the concession area of PT BPK namely padagi sites. The site was used by the Dayak community to worship ancestors and offer prayers at tuah jubata (god almighty one). Keywords: Geographic Information System (GIS), High Conservation Value (HCV), PT BPK.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was carried out in the Wood Workshop Faculty of forestry University of Tanjungpura to manufacture test and example in the lab Silvikultur for testing the stability of dimension lumber, Wood is a material that besifat hygroscopic materials that can absorb and remove water depending on the environment. The test sample is inserted into each of the oven with a temperature of 500C, 700C, and 900C until it weighs the constant. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of the position on the stem height and temperature of drying as well as the interaction of these two factors the dimension stability of wood against the Rubber as well as knowing the position on the stem height and the most appropriate drying temperature so that it can show the highest dimensional stability. The results of the research on the radial direction indicates that the value of moisture content ranged from 9.8394%-10.3484% increase of the drying temperature decreases. While the value of density showed no noticeable difference i.e. ranged from 0.8188%-0.7669%. Depreciation value dimensions vary greatly on the position of the height of the stem that is ranged from 1.2189%.-3.1405%. Research on tangential direction indicates that the value of moisture content ranged from 9.9894%-14.6225% increase of the drying temperature decreases. While the value of density showed no noticeable difference i.e. value 0.7390%-0.8143%. Value changes in dimensions ranging from 1.1594%-2.1629%. The value of depreciation is not too mean and very varied temperature drying. Keywords : Dimensional stability, temperatur drying , The height position on the rod

Abstract

Disturbance to protected areas Nyiut Mountain Nature Reserve from the village who lives close to the nature reserve, one of which is the village Pisak. Almost all conservation areas in Indonesia are in a strong pattern of interaction with the people living around them. Where the people living around the conservation area still rely on life in the forest. One of the activities undertaken by BKSDA as a form of activities in forest conservation is to make the Model Village Conservation Village as one of the first step in the community empowerment that is located around the conservation area of Gunung Nyiut Nature Reserve. The method used was a survey method with interview-assisted questionnaire. Determination of the number of respondents using Slovin formula and its determition by purposive sampling. Data analysis using Chi Square formula. Perception of community pisak village towards Management of Village Conservation Models in Nyiut Mountain Nature Reserve tend to be different. Perception of community on the management of conservation village ,odels are likely to be positive. It is proven that as many as 39 respondents ( 44,32 %) has a positive perception on the management of the Village Conservation Model conducted in Pisak village, in addition to greatly helping the community burden to get clean water, also assist in the preservation of the area they occupy today. There is a significant correlation between knowledge and cosmopolitan factors with community perception factor, but there is no correlation between age factor and perception of Pisak villagers towards the management of Village Conservation Model conducted in Pisak village. Keywords: Model Desa Konservasi, Perception, Pisak Village.
