Abstract

The stability of underground openings in weak rocks presents a major challenge in geotechnical engineering due to the time-dependent deformation and low mechanical strength of such materials. This study analyzes total displacement in tunnel structures with and without support systems, focusing on the Cileunyi "“ Sumedang - Dawuan toll road tunnel in West Java. Using a 3D finite element modeling approach (Phase2 software), comparisons were made between two tunnel spacing configurations (3R and 5R). The results show that the installation of support systems such as steel ribs, wire mesh, and shotcrete significantly reduces displacement, especially on critical zones like the tunnel"™s left wall. The 3R model recorded a maximum displacement difference of 46.3 mm, while the 5R model showed 44.9 mm. This study confirms that proper support configuration not only minimizes deformation but also promotes more uniform stress redistribution. The findings highlight the importance of integrating empirical data with numerical simulations for effective tunnel support design in weak rock environments.

Abstract

The Pontianak–Aruk bus route serves a strategic role in supporting accessibility and mobility in Sambas Regency, particularly in connecting to the Aruk Border Crossing Post (PLBN). The growing population and increasing tourism activity have heightened the demand for safe, affordable, and efficient public transportation. This study analyzes passenger characteristics, estimates Vehicle Operating Costs (VOC), and determines the optimal fleet size. Primary data were collected through observations, interviews, and surveys conducted at the Pontianak and Aruk terminals over three days, while secondary data were obtained from relevant agencies. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, the analysis included load factor, VOC, and fleet requirements based on the break-even point. Results show that most passengers are aged 21–30 years, traveling mainly for homecoming, with affordability as the key factor in choosing buses. The average load factor was 0.63, with 28 passengers per trip; however, headways were irregular and fell below service standards. Operating costs totaled IDR 592,358,000 per year, and the optimal fleet size was determined to be three units, compared to the existing four. These findings suggest the need for fleet adjustment to enhance efficiency and service quality in cross-border public transport.

Abstract

One of the negative impacts of modern transportation development is the increasing number of traffic accidents, including the rising fatality rates, resulting in serious injuries and loss of life. The low level of traffic safety remains a significant challenge for the government in realising a safe and orderly transportation system. This study aims to identify and categorise the factors that influence the safety level at unsignalized four-legged intersections in Pontianak City. The Research focuses on two intersections: Putri Daranante – Putri Darahitam – Alianyang Street (Intersection 1) and Harapan Jaya – Ampera – Prof. M. Yamin Street (Intersection 2). Data were collected through field surveys using the Traffic Conflict Technique (TCT), based on the Swedish Traffic Conflict Technique and PIARC guidelines. The analysis results indicate that the Time-to-Accident (TA) parameter is the main factor influencing traffic safety levels at both study locations. Intersection 1 exhibited more serious conflict conditions, with TA values ranging from 0.0 to 0.5 seconds and conflicting speeds between 40 and 45 km/h. This study recommends implementing traffic signals and enhancing traffic sign dissemination and enforcement to reduce the number of serious conflicts.

Abstract

PT Integrasi Aviasi Solusi is a service provider in the aviation industry covering ground handling, cargo, logistics, and operational support. Activities in the cargo segment involve a significant level of hazard risk, thereby requiring the implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) in accordance with regulations. This study aims to evaluate the hazard risk levels at the Pontianak Branch Office, assess the implementation level of SMK3 in accordance with Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012, and provide recommendations for improving risk control strategies. The Research data were obtained through field observations, interviews, documentation, and the use of OHSMS checklists. Risk analysis was conducted using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method and the AS/NZS 4360:2004 standard, while the evaluation of OHSMS implementation employed a regulatory compliance instrument. The results identified 54 potential hazards, consisting of 34 low-risk and 20 medium-risk hazards. The evaluation of OHSMS implementation showed a compliance level of 97%, with 62 criteria fulfilled and two criteria unmet (3%). These findings indicate that the implementation of OHSMS in the cargo unit has been carried out effectively; however, improvements in certain aspects are still required to strengthen the effectiveness of risk control.

Abstract

Segara Anakan is a semi-enclosed lagoon that serves as a transitional zone between fluvial and marine environments, characterized by complex, dynamic morphological features. The hydrodynamic conditions in this area strongly influence sediment transport and deposition, which, in turn, affect the morphological evolution of the lagoon over time. This study aims to analyze current patterns and bottom sediment distribution in Segara Anakan and to identify the relationship between current dynamics and sediment characteristics. The data used include primary data from bottom sediment sampling at 21 observation stations and secondary data on bathymetry, tides, and river discharge. Current modeling was conducted using the Surface-water Modeling System (SMS) with the RMA2 module, while sediment analysis was conducted using a grain-size test by the sieve method. The modeling results show that the maximum current velocity reaches 0.907 m/s, with flow directions varying according to the lagoon’s morphology. Sediment analysis results indicate that sand is the dominant fraction at 13 stations, while mixed sediments are found in the central part of the lagoon. These findings suggest that tidal current strength plays a significant role in controlling sediment transport and deposition patterns within the Segara Anakan lagoon.

Abstract

The replacement of outdated transportation infrastructure can significantly influence urban traffic systems, particularly in relation to trip generation and intersection performance. In Pontianak, the Bardan ferry crossing is planned to be replaced by the Garuda Bridge, which is expected to increase traffic volumes. This study analyzes the impact of the bridge on the performance of the intersection at Jalan Khatulistiwa – Jalan Gusti Situt Mahmud – Jalan Terminal Siantan through traffic surveys and PTV Vissim simulations with projected growth rates of 6%, 9%, and 12%. The existing condition shows poor performance at Level of Service (LOS) F, with an average delay of 53.56 seconds and a queue length of 101.83 meters. Among four alternatives tested, Alternative 4—widening the main roads to 14 meters and adding continuous through lanes (LrsJT) and direct left-turn lanes (BkiJT)—proved most effective. This design improved LOS to D, reducing delays by 30.67% at 6% growth, and about 28% at 9% and 12%. While LOS B was not achieved, the Garuda Bridge significantly enhances efficiency and reduces traffic delays, highlighting its role in improving regional mobility.

Abstract

This study examines public transportation accessibility in Bandung, the capital of West Java Province, located at 107 °36' E and 6 °55' S, covering 167.31 square kilometers and characterized by a mountainous "bowl-shaped" topography. Trans Metro Bandung (TMB) operates an integrated network of five main corridors and two feeder routes to enhance urban mobility. Corridor 1, the longest route, spans approximately 20 kilometers from Cibiru Terminal in the east to Cibeureum Terminal in the west, passing through major roads and serving 86 bus stops distributed across educational, commercial, office, and residential areas. The study utilizes secondary spatial data, including Bandung"™s road network and bus stop locations from the Trans Metro Bandung. Administrative boundary data delineates the study area. Using GIS software, the research compares two accessibility measurement methods: the circular buffer, which creates fixed-radius catchment areas around stops, and the service area buffer, which calculates accessible areas based on the actual street network. Both buffer types are merged to remove overlapping areas, producing union buffers representing unique coverage zones. Accessibility indices are calculated based on the union buffers: the Ideal Stop-Accessibility Index (ISAI) measures the ratio of circular buffer coverage to the ideal corridor buffer; the Actual Stop-Accessibility Index (ASAI) measures the ratio of service area buffer coverage to the ideal; and the Stop Coverage Ratio Index (SCRI) compares service area coverage to circular buffer coverage. These indices prevent overestimation caused by overlapping buffers and provide a realistic assessment of transit stop accessibility. This study provides valuable insights for developing more accurate and sustainable public transportation strategies in Bandung and similar urban contexts.
