Abstract

Beginning on October 5, 2017, Al Sunnah militants in the Cabo Delgado region of Mozambique violently attacked security personnel, governmental buildings, and the civilian public and by 2020 the terrorists had killed more than 3,000 people and driven almost 800,000 people from their homes. The terrorists were also starting to spill over into neighboring nations creating a regional security threat. The Mozambique security forces reacted to the situation without success as the reaction force was underequipped and lacked the necessary skills. As the situation further worsened, Mozambique requested the Southern African Development Community for assistance on the basis of the group’s collective security provisions. This culminated in the deployment of the SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM). This study aims at evaluating the collective defense capacity-building initiatives adopted by SADC to assist Mozambique. The study uses a qualitative approach with data gathered through document analysis and interviews of 15 purposely selected informants comprised of military officers directly involved in the conflict, academics and key politicians. Collective security initiatives adopted by SADC include diplomatic involvement, training, offensive military operations, the provision of military gear, guidance, funding, consulting services, and intelligence services. The outcomes show that, despite certain difficulties, the collective initiatives by SADC member states were sufficient to achieve the desired end state of neutralizing the Al Sunnah terrorists and restoring peace and security to Cabo Delgado Province.

Abstract

The conflicts in Papua, Indonesia, and Zulu, South Africa, present similarities and differences.  This article concentrates on the discussion of the separatist conflict in Papua which is then compared with the separatist conflict in Zulu, South Africa. Which ended with a peace agreement between the Zulu separatist movement and the South African government to take lessons from the Zulu Separatist Conflict to support the resolution of the separatist conflict in Papua, Indonesia. This paper is based on the Library Research methodology and comparative method approach.. There is a big difference, namely that in the Zulu conflict there is a window of opportunity which is the way to peace and ends in a peace agreement. Meanwhile, the Papua conflict does not yet have a window of opportunity which is an opportunity to pave the way for peace. So it is hoped that the Indonesian government will be more observant in seeing opportunities in resolving the Papua conflict. Since the democratic elections, there has been no figure from Papua with an Indonesian nationalist spirit who is able to accommodate and bridge between the Papuan separatist groups and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. Because looking at the Zulu conflict, apart from the election event there were also nationalist and democratic figures who were black in South Africa.

Abstract

The Nai Meko people are the Atoin Meto people who have experienced a winding and complicated history. To study the nuances of faith possessed by the Nai Meko people, the author uses an anthropological approach and aspects of the lives of the people they live. So the purpose of this writing is a contextual effort to read the quality of faith of the Nai Meko people within the framework of the political conspiracy that was experienced during the Portuguese and Dutch colonial periods. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with interview techniques and documentation studies. The interesting thing that exists in the lives of people and the people of Nai Meko every day is, even though they are a society that has been under pressure because of conspiracy politics, they believe in the Most High according to their original religious concept, and they are very deeply rooted in the Catholic faith, so they don't drifting in fatalistic attitudes and lifestyles. In order to maintain harmony in society, the people of Nai Meko develop a dialogical dialogue between the Christian faith and the notion of the Divine by the indigenous religions. It turns out that a theological approach as well as a humanistic pastoral approach is very much needed, so that humans and local communities can be directed to the right and civilized path. Another thing that needs attention is civilized social communication to harmonize two interests, between the Catholic faith and the original religious faith.

Abstract

This study explores the cash management practices of women-owned Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia. Through qualitative research using the ethnographic method, including observations and interviews with three female entrepreneurs in Batu and Malang, East Java, the study reveals insights into their practices. The findings show varying understandings of cash flow management among female entrepreneurs. Cash flow planning is done by estimating monthly income and expenses, setting sales targets, and creating monthly financial reports. Entrepreneurs have different perspectives on business development and expansion. Some plan to expand their businesses, while others focus on stable growth. Debt is seen as a burden if not managed well but can be beneficial for business development. Entrepreneurs also prioritize savings for emergencies and business needs. These findings contribute to understanding the cash management practices of women-owned SMEs in Indonesia. The study emphasizes the importance of financial literacy and provides insights into cash flow management practices that can enhance business operations.
