Abstract

Early childhood character education is an important foundation in developing a strong and virtuous personality in children. This study aims to examine the role of teachers at Arastamar Sengkuang Kindergarten in instilling Christian character values ​​in young children. Through a contextual and spiritual learning approach, teachers are not only tasked with teaching but also serving as role models in teaching values ​​such as love, honesty, discipline, responsibility, and gratitude. The method used in this study was direct observation of classroom teaching and learning activities, including prayer, singing, storytelling, and guidance for parents. The results of the observations indicate that character values ​​are instilled through positive daily habits, with active support from parents. Cooperation between teachers and parents is a key factor in supporting children's character development, thus having a positive impact on children's behavior. This Community Service Program (PKM) is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of character education in Christian schools. In addition, this study is also expected to strengthen the role of character education in developing a young generation with high integrity and morality. Through this program, children are expected to grow into individuals who are not only academically intelligent but also possess good personalities. This program is also expected to be an example for other educational institutions in instilling character values ​​from an early age.

Abstract

Community services about hygiene and sanitation for food handlers is necessary to prevent the food produced from physical, chemical, and biological contamination, and to avoid causing diseases in humans. This is very important because there are 20 million cases of food poisoning every year in Indonesia. Activity of this community services consists of socialization hygiene and sanitation principles in the food processing process. The socialization is delivered in the form of lectures presentation, the provision of booklet and the distribution of cleaning tools for vendors. This community service in the Gubeng Airlangga area of Surabaya. The activity was attended by 49 participants who are food handlers from micro, small, and medium enterprises MSMEs, consisting of 17 men and 32 women. The result showed a significant improvement with the average pre-test score rising from 68.17 to 85.71 in the post-test. Thirty-two participants (65.3%) achieved a 'very good' knowledge category after attending the socialization. Wilcoxon Test indicated a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). The conclusion of this activity is that the socialization method through lectures and media in the form of slide shows and pocket books is considered effective to increasing the knowledge of food handlers. Recommendations for future activities include continuous assistance, the development of a more comprehensive socialization program that combines lecture methods, practical demonstrations, and field visits, as well as active involvement from the government to provide support for Adequate hygiene and sanitation facilities for MSMEs, integration of technology aspects in upcoming socialization programs.

Abstract

Digital technology has highlighted the importance of developing students' creativity and digital literacy. This study aims to enhance the skills of eighth-grade students at SMPN 7 Bintan in using Canva as a creative learning tool. The community service program involved 30 students in participatory activities that encouraged active engagement in socialization, digital media creation, and academic presentations. The program was designed to familiarize students with Canva’s features, such as the dashboard, templates, and multimedia elements, to improve their skills in creating interactive and visually appealing content. The results showed significant improvements in students’ technical skills, including proficiency in using the Canva dashboard, creating interactive and visual media, and boosting their confidence in utilizing digital tools. Furthermore, students responded positively to Canva-based learning, as evidenced by increased motivation, better understanding of the material, and active participation in class activities. The integration of Canva into the curriculum fostered creativity, teamwork, and digital literacy, demonstrating that it is an effective and engaging teaching model for 21st-century education. This approach not only improved students’ practical digital skills but also enhanced their ability to communicate and collaborate using modern digital platforms. These findings suggest that incorporating Canva-based digital media into education can significantly contribute to student engagement and learning outcomes, especially in the digital age.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the revitalization of the family’s role in children’s education through the development of a learning assistance model in Unse Village. The role of the family as the primary educator has often diminished due to modernization, parents’ busy schedules, and the increasing reliance on formal schools. However, children’s education does not only take place in classrooms but also within everyday interactions at home. Using a qualitative approach with observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation methods, this study found that family involvement in children’s learning significantly influences their motivation, discipline, and academic achievement. The developed learning assistance model emphasizes three main aspects. First, joint study activities that actively engage parents in helping children with assignments and reading. Second, strengthening family communication that fosters warmth, self-confidence, and emotional support for children. Third, the integration of religious and local cultural values into family routines, ensuring children receive balanced education across cognitive, affective, and spiritual domains. The implications of this study indicate that families, schools, and communities must collaborate to build a more holistic educational ecosystem in Unse Village. Revitalizing the family’s role not only improves children’s learning quality but also strengthens cultural identity and social bonds within the community. Thus, family-based learning assistance can serve as an alternative educational model that is highly relevant for rural contexts in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need to improve the effectiveness of village development planning through participatory digital mapping technology. Pangkil Village, which is characterized by areas divided into three hamlets with various facilities, requires accurate spatial data as a basis for decision-making. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of the application of digital mapping technology on increasing community participation and the quality of village planning. The method used was qualitative with data collection through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with village officials and residents, and analysis of digital map documents of Pangkil Village. The collected data were then processed and analyzed thematically to get a comprehensive picture of the implementation of the technology and the role of the community. The results showed that the use of digital mapping technology succeeded in increasing community involvement in the planning process because they could directly contribute to the data collection of areas and facilities. In addition, the quality of village planning is improved because village officials can make decisions based on valid and structured data. Increased participation also strengthens transparency and accountability in village development. Overall, this research proves that simple yet appropriate technology can empower village communities and improve development governance.

Abstract

The issue of waste management remains a serious challenge that requires intervention from an early age. This community service program was carried out at SD Negeri 008 Bukit Bestari, Kelurahan Dompak, involving 100 elementary school students. The method employed was based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) through interactive socialization and the use of a waste decomposition board as an educational medium. The stages of the program included preliminary observation, material delivery, waste sorting practice, and evaluation through a questionnaire. The results showed that students demonstrated high enthusiasm, began adopting environmentally friendly behaviors, and were able to understand the differences between organic and inorganic waste. The installation of educational boards proved effective as a sustainable learning tool, while the practice of utilizing inorganic waste encouraged students’ creativity. In addition, the program created a sense of responsibility for waste management among students. The satisfaction survey revealed that all indicators achieved the “very good” category with an average score above 90%. These findings highlight that an HBM-based approach combined with visual media can enhance environmental awareness among elementary school students and has the potential to foster sustainable behavior. Furthermore, the program's success suggests that integrating waste management education into the school curriculum can be an effective strategy for promoting environmental consciousness and cultivating responsible habits in young learners

Abstract

This community service program was carried out with the aim of enhancing the interest and motivation of elementary school students in Dompak Seberang through creative tutoring activities. The program involved 25 students from grades I–VI at SDN 008 Bukit Bestari, accompanied by 19 KKN (student community service) participants. To address the challenges faced, an alternative approach was needed—one that was more creative, enjoyable, and able to stimulate active student engagement. One such effort implemented was tutoring activities based on the concept of fun learning. The method used was qualitative descriptive with a participatory approach through observation, interviews, and student satisfaction questionnaires. Activities were conducted twice a week, focusing on core subjects such as Mathematics, English, and literacy-numeracy (reading, writing, and arithmetic). The learning strategies applied included the expository method, fun learning, ice breaking, and simple rewards. The implementation of the Creative Tutoring Program at SD Dompak Seberang produced several important findings based on direct observations, documentation, and the results of student satisfaction surveys. The survey showed that 100% of students enjoyed learning in the tutoring sessions, 96% stated that the classroom atmosphere made them more enthusiastic, and 100% expressed interest in participating in similar activities again. Field observations also revealed improvements in students’ activeness, confidence in asking questions, and participation in discussions. Thus, the creative tutoring activities proved effective in strengthening students’ learning interest and motivation and can serve as a sustainable community service model that is replicable in other regions.

Abstract

Waste problems in Batu Licin Laut coastal area are becoming more complex along with the increasing community activities. The lack of waste management facilities causes most waste, especially plastic and organic, to accumulate in residential areas and end up polluting the sea. This condition not only degrades coastal ecosystems but also threatens public health, such as the spread of waterborne diseases and contamination of seafood consumed by the local community. If left unmanaged, the long-term impact may lead to a decline in marine biodiversity and hinder the sustainability of local livelihoods, particularly for fishermen who rely on clean waters. As a solution, this study introduces Ecoholic, an eco-friendly waste booth designed to separate organic and non-organic waste. The innovation emphasizes practical and community-based approaches by placing booths in easily accessible public spaces. The research employed a descriptive method consisting of booth design, installation in strategic locations, and community socialization through workshops and demonstrations. Socialization activities encouraged residents to actively participate in waste separation and adopt environmentally friendly habits in their daily routines. The results indicate a significant improvement in community understanding, interest, and behavior toward waste management. People became more aware of the importance of waste segregation and were motivated to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. The presence of Ecoholic has proven effective in reducing waste accumulation while fostering a cleaner and healthier environment. Furthermore, this innovation demonstrates that simple but well-designed facilities, combined with community empowerment, can provide a sustainable model of waste management. Ecoholic has the potential to be replicated in other coastal areas facing similar waste challenges, contributing to broader environmental preservation and community well-being.

Abstract

Delays in the graduation of final-year students remain a common problem in higher education. One of the causes is low academic literacy, particularly in literature searches and bibliography compilation. To address this issue, this community service activity was carried out through training in the use of the Publish or Perish (PoP) and VOSviewer applications. The training was held at the Accounting Computer Laboratory of the University of Lampung using a participatory workshop method that emphasized hands-on practice and intensive mentoring. A total of 20 final year students from the Accounting Study Program were involved in this activity. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding. Students were able to compile more systematic literature reviews and identify research gaps in their respective fields of study. This activity also had an impact on increasing student motivation in completing their theses and reducing the technical burden on supervising lecturers. Thus, PoP and VOSviewer training proved to be effective in strengthening academic literacy, supporting graduation acceleration, and encouraging a culture of research in higher education. Moving forward, similar programs can be expanded to other study programs and integrated with scientific article writing training.

Abstract

MSMEs are a strategic sector in the Indonesian economy. However, many MSMEs face fundamental obstacles in the form of low business legality and minimal Islamic financial literacy, requiring comprehensive assistance. This community service activity aims to improve the competitiveness of MSMEs through business legality assistance based on Online Single Submission (OSS) and Islamic financial management training. This PKM involves 12 MSMEs from various sectors, including food and beverage, makeup services, Pahawang tour services, and local honey production. The training was held on September 5, 2025, at Maharindu Kopi, Bandar Lampung. Participants received educational materials, hands-on practice in registering for a Business Identification Number (NIB), and training in Islamic financial literacy. The results of the activity showed that 10 of the 12 MSMEs successfully obtained business legality in the form of an NIB. In addition, the participants' Islamic financial literacy increased significantly, with an average increase in understanding of 40-50% after participating in the training. Participants also began to be able to prepare simple sharia-based cash flow reports and recognize sharia financial products relevant to their businesses. The success of this program has great potential to be expanded to other regions as a model for empowering competitive, professional, and sustainable MSMEs.
