Abstract

This research was conducted at the KAREB Cooperative, a company that provides tobacco redrying services. The cooperative processes tobacco from various consumers in the thresher unit, where production can last up to 15 hours. Such extended operations increase the risk of machine malfunctions. To address this, the company implements quality control measures based on predefined standards to minimize defective products and ensure that outputs meet quality requirements. These measures also aim to prevent defective items from reaching consumers. One of the quality control approaches applied is the Six Sigma method, which focuses on defect reduction through a structured process of defining, measuring, analyzing, improving, and controlling production quality. The methodology involves detailed data breakdown, including data presentation, analysis, and interpretation. Data were collected through interviews and discussions with the quality control team at the KAREB Cooperative, providing insights into the practical application of Six Sigma in tobacco redrying operations.

Abstract

Supply chain management combines all parties involved in the manufacture of products, either directly or indirectly. A quality management tool known as Value Stream Mapping (VSM) has the ability to match the current state of a process by providing opportunities for improvement and reducing waste. To create a Value Stream Mapping (VSM), some building symbols are needed. Each symbol in VSM serves a different purpose and serves a different purpose. They also show the various stakeholders involved in the process and explain the processes that occur. Future State Value Stream Mapping shows the results of proposed improvements that can reduce Non Value Added by 37.84%. Based on the identification of the Home Industry Supply Chain process, the result of proposed future improvements that eliminate non-value-added time is expected to reduce the value to 37.84%.

Abstract

This study analyzes Occupational Health and Safety (K3) in the construction of the Banyuran Tanjung Jati Gate Units 5 and 6 at PT. Supraco Indonesia, utilizing the Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) method. HIRARC is a systematic process used to identify hazards, assess risks, and control them to prevent accidents. The research identifies 16 processes, categorizing potential hazards such as material spillage, high-speed driving, and unsafe working conditions like slippery surfaces. Risk assessments show that most identified risks are low, with a few posing moderate risks, such as minor injuries and dehydration. Risk controls implemented include proper safety signage, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensuring worker competency. These measures aim to minimize workplace accidents and enhance safety for all involved in the construction project.

Abstract

The advancement of technology encourages companies to enhance machine performance to support production. Routine maintenance ensures smoother operations and optimal machine utilization. However, suboptimal machine use reduces productivity and leads to production losses. One effective method to mitigate this is Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) serving as a metric to evaluate productivity losses. Human error, often caused by fatigue, is a major source of downtime. Mechanical issues, such as conveyor belt damage from sugar tobacco residue, and environmental factors like high temperatures or electrical disturbances, also contribute to machine inefficiency. In the thresher unit of the KAREB Cooperative, several disruptions affect machine effectiveness. OEE analysis in May 2022 showed a value of 11.81%, far below world-class standards, primarily due to significant machine damage during that period. While the defect rate was 0%, the highest downtime occurred in week 3, when intensive production caused frequent machine issues.

Abstract

PT. Prima Sejahtera Graphics prints various packaging types, including pharmaceutical, food, and beverage packaging. The current storage policy assigns fixed pallet areas for each product type, causing inefficiencies when pallet space does not match output volume. This mismatch complicates warehouse operations and is worsened by carriers returning goods based on packaging configurations. Consequently, warehouse staff face increased workload managing inbound and outbound flows. To resolve this, the study proposes a shared storage system allowing flexible placement by product type. This method optimizes space use and reduces unnecessary movement. Implementation results show a reduction in travel distance from 418.5 meters to 395.5 meters, demonstrating improved operational efficiency.

Abstract

PT. Raska Jaya Medika is a medical equipment supplier specializing in Hemodialisa Packs, located at Ruko De Farda RK-1, Keboan Anom Village, Gedangan District, Sidoarjo, East Java. The Hemodialisa Pack functions to filter and cleanse harmful metabolic substances from the body. Considering the high demand with random patterns and dispersed locations, a revision of the distribution route is necessary for greater efficiency. The author analyzes the route using a single vehicle, applying the sweep algorithm to form customer clusters, followed by mixed integer linear programming (MILP) to determine the optimal route without exceeding vehicle capacity. The MILP model results indicate a cost saving of Rp451,719 (4.31%), a time efficiency of 1.070%, and a distance efficiency of 1.018%.

Abstract

Risk management in the Occupational Health and Safety (K3) program provides a safe working environment essential to protecting employees. To improve the effectiveness of K3 risk management, the study proposes improvements using Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment methods. (HIRA). The study aims to identify potential hazards and evaluate the risks associated with hot work in the work environment. Using the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) approach, risks can be identified more effectively and enable companies to take appropriate action to improve the effectiveness of risk management in occupational health and safety programs. (K3). The research methods used include document analysis, field observations, interviews, and surveys. The collected data will be analyzed using HIRA methods that include identifying hazards, assessing risks, and making recommendations for appropriate risk control. The results of this research are expected to enhance our understanding of the potential hazards and risks associated with the workplace. The resulting improvement recommendations will help the company implement appropriate precautions and improve K3 risk management.
