Abstract

Many researchers have examined students' perceptions of World English. However, little research has been conducted on what teachers in East Borneo think about this topic. Therefore, it is important to find out whether EFL East Borneo teachers are able to teach and introduce the concept of International English. This research seeks to examine East Borneo EFL instructors' beliefs of World Englishes and their application of these varieties in the classroom. The subjects were thirty EFL English instructors in Balikpapan, Samarinda, Kutai Kartanegara, Bontang, Kutai Timur, PPU, and Berau District of East Borneo Province. The method used to gather data was a questionnaire with Likert scales and open-ended questions on teachers' attitudes and practices towards World Englishes. Percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used to examine the data (S.D). The study's results found that East Borneo EFL teachers executed their ideas by teaching students to communicate like native speakers. They generally expose students to standard English in terms of accents, grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and the use of a standard English dictionary. On the other hand, they followed the World Englishes paradigm in educating culture, choosing and using books and resources with varying levels of English.

Abstract

Research study about the research trends in the analysis of elementary level arabic textbooks is very important. This is based on the large number of studies in arabic language journals that examine analytical research on arabic textbooks. The purpose of this study is first to map research studies on the analysis of Arabic language textbooks at the elementary level in Arabic language journals in Indonesia in the period 2018 to 2022 in terms of year of publication, journal category, and first author's institution on articles. The second is to analyze research studies on the analysis of Arabic textbooks at the basic level from the point of view of problem formulation. The type of research in this research is a systematic literature review using the PRISMA type method (preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses). The procedure in this study includes 4 stages, namely identification, screening, eligibility, and include. The results of this study indicate that a research study on the trend of research on elementary level Arabic textbook analysis in the 2018-2022 period can be classified into 2 findings. The first is in terms of the identity of the article which includes three things, namely the year the article was published, the journal category in the article, and the institution/organization of the first author of the article. Second, in terms of the formulation of the problem, which resulted in the scope of research on the tendency of the analysis of Arabic textbooks to focus only on the suitability analysis of Arabic textbook materials, namely conformity with the curriculum, approach, BSNP, and 5C ACTFL.

Abstract

Research trends are an important indicator in evaluating the extent to which a field of science has developed, especially in Arabic language skills. It is necessary to know the extent to which previous researchers have studied these skills with various types of methods, approaches, models, instruments, and how much similar research has been carried out. Therefore, this study aims to investigate research trends in Arabic language skills in Indonesian academic literature, with a focus on articles published in accredited journals of SINTA (Science and Technology Index) during the 2018-2022 period. The research method used is SLR (Systematic Literature Review), which is used as a framework for identifying, collecting and reviewing literature. Data will be collected from SINTA accredited journals which contain articles about Arabic language skills totaling 62 journals with 377 articles. This research uses descriptive bibliometric analysis to identify research trends, dominant topics, and Indonesia's contribution to Arabic language skills academic literature. This research has revealed that a lot of research on Arabic language skills carried out in 2021, which is dominant with research on speaking skill, while the type of research used is dominated by quantitative experiments and qualitative case studies, with instruments of interview, observations, questionnaires, tests and documentation being many choices for researchers with descriptive qualitative analysis as well as descriptive statistical analysis. Most research locus are found at junior high school, high school and university levels, while research topics are more directed towards a particular method in Arabic language skills.

Abstract

The importance of this research is centered on the necessity of studying common, thorny terms in Arab and Islamic sciences. Perhaps the most prominent of these terms is “context.” Context is not a loose term as it seems, but it is a term of great specificity and importance in multiple sciences. Which prompted the researchers to study its linguistic and terminological significance, and its interpretation among the ancients and moderns. The research aimed to: clarify what is meant by context linguistically and terminologically among the ancients and moderns, present and define the terms that are associated with the concept of context in the Arab and Islamic sciences, and investigate the significance of that term and edit its concept in the various arts that It is widely used, and the research has adopted several approaches to reach its desired goals. He adopted the historical and investigative approaches in tracing the term context among the ancients and moderns in the sciences that used it. He also adopted the analytical and deductive approaches in analyzing the definitions of this term and the terms that come into contact with it. To liberate the concept of context among the ancients and moderns; This is to reach a number of results, the most important of which are: The ancient scholars of the nation - may God Almighty have mercy on them - did not prefer a clear definition of context when they studied any of the arts that used that term, nor did the modern scholars agree on a single definition of context during its circulation as a term in a number of Arab and Islamic sciences. Abstract

Arabic is a very important language to learn and understand. The behaviorist approach is a new way of learning Arabic, along with other advantages that accompany technological advances in the digital era. Which emphasizes the role of reinforcement and stimulus-response in learning. However, using a behaviorist approach in learning Arabic has its own challenges in the digital era. The research objective of this article is to examine the opportunities and challenges of the behaviorist approach in learning Arabic in the digital era, where if it does not immediately adapt to the digital era, Arabic language education will be left behind and lose its relevance. By taking advantage of the opportunities offered by digital technology to improve the quality of Arabic language learning and prepare students for the future. The future of Arabic education depends on how we respond to the digital era. By using a library research approach, this research methodology allows for a literature-based examination of the relationship between behaviorism, Arabic language learning, and the digital era. The findings of the content analysis identify and analyze the need to modify the ideas of behaviorism theory to suit the dynamics of Arabic language learning in the digital era and the importance of integrating content, media, methodology and evaluation in a balanced way when teaching Arabic. In this situation, behaviorism methods combined with digital technology are expected to increase the effectiveness of Arabic language learning. Despite these obstacles, the development of an innovative Arabic language learning platform can open the door to increasing the effectiveness of the behaviorist approach in learning Arabic in the digital era. As a result, this article offers a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities of learning Arabic with a behaviorist approach in the digital era.

Abstract

Arabic has a level of complexity in terms of rules, meaning, and vocabulary which causes students to find it difficult to learn and even avoid learning Arabic, one of which is writing skills. This research aims to provide an overview and describe how to apply the text-based Arabic language learning model in writing skills through a theoretical review according to Hammond. This research method uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type with data collection techniques, that is interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis model used is the Miles Huberman and Saldana interactive model including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this research are text-based learning in students' writing skills at Ma'had Sabilillah Malang using Hammound's text-based learning model with 4 stages, namely: Stage 1; BKOF (Building knowledge of the field), Stage 2; MOT (Modelling of text), Stage 3; JCOT (Join Construction of text), Stage 4; ICOT (Independent Construction of Text) is the implementation of students' knowledge and understanding to produce text independently. In its implementation, it starts with teacher-centered learning (Teacher-centered approach) then teachers and students collaborate to play an active role in compiling and analyzing texts that have been created with themes about daily activities. In the final stage, students learn independently and the teacher only acts as controlling. The Arabic language learning process based on Hammond's theory creates a classroom atmosphere where writing skills are not as usual, which is tense and quickly gets boring, resulting in students synergizing with each other in producing their best work in writing
