Abstract

This study aims to assess the efficacy of the existing physical education and sports curriculum on the development of life among senior high school students in Timor-Leste. The instrument used for this study is the Life Skill Scale Sport (LSSS) by Cronin Alen (2016). The collected data are analyzed using descriptive statistics within a survey design. The study encompasses a population of 203 senior high school students, comprising 97 males and 103 females, drawn from various schools in three municipalities. The findings of this study showed that the mean values of each factor seem to “strongly agree” which means there is the effectiveness of physical education and sports curriculum in developing life skills among senior high school students. Life skills for the students that have been learning through physical education and sport subject such as leadership, teamwork, and collaboration are essential for student’s personal growth and future career success, these skills enable students to lead effectively, work well to contribute to the collective goals.

Abstract

Physical Literacy awareness is a key aspect in understanding and improving students' physical health and fitness. This study investigated the impact of Physical Literacy Awareness in improving students' abdominal muscular endurance in a wetland environment. The study explored how a program focusing on physical literacy, when implemented in a wetland environment, impacted students' abdominal muscular endurance. The research method uses an equivalent time series, namely an experimental method applying a time series design. This method is carried out by carrying out three tests, namely an initial test followed by treatment. The second test continues with the treatment and ends with the third test. The research population as well as the research sample was 133 students. The data analysis technique uses the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test because the data is not normally distributed. Based on the Kruskal-Wallis Test data analysis technique, it shows a significance value of 0.015 0.05, so there is a significant difference. The results can be said that there is a significant difference between test-1, test-2 and test-3 in students. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that physical literacy awareness can increase physical literacy awareness. increase the abdominal muscle strength of students in wetland areas. This study provides valuable insights into the role of Physical Literacy Awareness in improving college students' abdominal muscle endurance. The findings showed that the implementation of the physical literacy awareness program had a significant positive influence on improving abdominal muscle endurance in a wetland environment.

Abstract

In the research conducted by Thompson et al (2022), there were research limitations in the use of language during the systematic review search process and the time limit criteria were quite long. Considering the many models in sports governance that have been proposed by academics, this research systematically reviews models in sports governance. Research methods: The method used in this research is a systematic literature review. The steps of a systematic literature review consist of review questions, inclusion criteria, search strategy, selection and assessment, extraction, and synthesis. Results and Findings: In total, there are 30 articles spanning the last 3 years which were used as the main source for this research. The results and findings in this research are still in the form of hypotheses, overall a sports governance model that is transparent, accountable, and democratic is found. Implications: The findings obtained highlight the systematic nature of sports governance. In the sports governance process, academics and practitioners have different points of view when implementing it, which causes academics and practitioners to be incompatible. For this reason, researchers in future studies can use a stronger, evidence-based sports governance model so that practitioners can understand it in more detail.

Abstract

Many things can influence the growth and development of teenagers, in this case young people, one of which is in the world of sports. Among them are sports programs that can make changes to the characteristics of youth development for the better, both physically and mentally for themselves or even their social environment. In this effort, the world of sports can be one way to make youth development in a more positive direction. The aim of the research here is focused on comparing the results of journals and articles that the author obtained with the keywords sports program physical education literature review, systematic literature review and positive youth development. This journal search was based on search results on Google Scholar and Taylor Francis, researchers found 5,657 journals that matched these keywords. A total of 418 journals were found to match these keywords exactly, then screening was carried out and 197 journals were found to be excluded because they had the same title and no full text articles were available and 221 journals were produced for abstract screening and the results obtained were 76 journals. 44 journals that were duplicates and did not meet the inclusion criteria were excluded so that 20 full text journals were reviewed. Because this research could not be carried out in the field during the Covid-19 pandemic, a narrative literature review method was carried out using data from 5657 journals that were initially found. Based on the results of the research analysis and the implications of the analysis, there is an influence of sports programs to promote positive youth development in the world of sports. So it is hoped that in the future we will be able to explore other factors that can influence or encourage positive development in young people. and be able to explain more fully the benefits of positive youth development programs.

Abstract

Health and physical fitness are great concern to society today. One way to maintain health and physical fitness is by exercising. Recently, people seem very enthusiastic about exercising. We can see this from the frequent appearance of videos and photos of people’s sports activities on social media. One of the sports that many people do is push-ups. Many people are familiar with the push-up and often do it to train their arm muscles, or compete in endurance competitions between individuals. Even though they are often done, until now push-ups do not have an integrated monitoring tool so that they can become a credible medium for showing them off on social media. This research aims to create a push-up monitoring tool that can display data in real-time. The push-up monitoring tool is made using an ESP32 microcontroller which is equipped with a VL53L0X distance sensor. By using ESPNOW communication, the special communication between ESP microcontrollers, data can be sent from the push-up monitoring device to a receiver connected to a PC where the monitoring application is displayed. On the PC side, the application is designed to display graphs of distance chest to the ground, average height when the arms are straight, and average height when the arms are bent in real-time. These three aspects are important aspects for observing the validity of a push-up. The results of this research underscore the feasibility of the monitoring system in collecting push-up data. In addition, this research serves as a foundation for future research aimed at simplifying the push up monitoring systems.

Abstract

Extracurricular activities are activities that are carried out outside of class hours or outside the main curriculum. Extracurricular activities have been believed to have a positive influence on students in developing their potential. The aim is to develop their interest and maintain their motivation in learning to increase student engagement develop social abilities, provide new skills, increase independence, and shape personality character. In line with the context of Positive Youth Development (PYD), extracurricular activities have many positive benefits for students involved in their activities, namely increased life skills, social interaction, and concern for the environment. The design used was a literature review, articles were collected from accredited national and international journals. The criteria for the articles used were articles published in 2012-2023. Based on the articles collected, it was found that extracurricular activities were able to hone self-ability, independence, social skills, strengthen a sense of community towards peers and teachers. Extracurricular sports activities can also increase self-confidence and encourage students' academic progress, and help life skills in setting goals and managing emotions. Through extracurricular sports activities, life skills can be acquired in the form of caring in dealing with everyday life situations. Extracurricular sports have a positive influence on the development of adolescent children in growing and developing in a positive direction.

Abstract

Fabric theory, also known as "process theory", refers to the fact that the society consists of interdependent groups and their interacting network throughout history. The macro society and micro individuals are inseparable. In this paper, the author analyzed the Nobel Elias’s "fabric theory" and the European fox hunting activity. The author shall use references, historical research, logic and other research methods, aiming to figure out the evolution process of civilization that European fox hunting implied. Besides, the author tried to the development of competitive sports and social sports in China. In this paper, through the study of the fabric theory to promote the development of civilization, fox hunting revealed the political violence of the British parliamentary system. Stokevis’s critique of Elias showed that: European civilization has achieved rationality. 2. Based on the fabric theory, China's competitive sports and social sports are the outcome of civilization change. Thus, while reading Elias' representative work ‘The Progress of Civilization’, combined with the study on European fox hunting, we can get insights into the evolution of European civilization through the fabric theory. In addition, owing to civilization development, we may reduce violence in sports, which is conducive to the construction of Chinese social sports and competitive sports tradition. Thus, the research could make contributions to the development of civilization.
