Abstract

Desert tourism in western Afghanistan presents both investment potential and socio-environmental risks, yet empirical guidance for prioritizing interventions is scarce. This study identifies and ranks investment priorities and persistent barriers to sustainable desert tourism and examines how community participation mediates investor intent. This study used a convergent mixed-methods design. Decision criteria were elicited with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) from n = 15 regional and sector experts; criteria weights were applied to a TOPSIS ranking of preferences derived from a structured survey of n = 300 stakeholders. Qualitative triangulation was provided by semi-structured interviews (n = 25). AHP pairwise matrices were evaluated for consistency (report CRs in manuscript). Inferential analyses (multiple regression and mediation testing using bootstrap resampling) examined relationships among perceived risks, community partnership mechanisms, and investment intent. Results show AHP/TOPSIS integration produced a clear priority ordering of investment criteria; green-technology and community-partnership mechanisms emerged among top priorities (see Table X). Survey models show statistically significant associations between perceived security risks and reduced investor intent; community participation attenuates this relationship (bootstrapped indirect effect — report point estimate and 95% CI). Qualitative themes corroborate quantitative rankings and clarify context-specific barriers (infrastructure gaps, governance, and security). Combining AHP and TOPSIS with qualitative evidence yields actionable, locally grounded investment priorities for desert tourism policy and planning. Prior to submission, insert exact CR values, regression coefficients, p-values, and bootstrap CIs in the placeholders provided. Limitations include cross-sectional design and sample representativeness.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the Bitcoin mining ecosystem and global primary electricity consumption using variables such as hashrate, Bitcoin market value, mining difficulty, adjusted transaction value, and the number of Bitcoin transactions. A quantitative method is employed, utilizing Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) analysis with E-Views 12. Granger causality analysis reveals a relationship between the number of Bitcoin transactions and hashrate, as well as between Bitcoin market value and Bitcoin transactions. Long-term findings show that Bitcoin hashrate and market value significantly increase global primary electricity consumption, while mining difficulty, adjusted transaction value, and transaction number do not. However, in the short term, mining difficulty and transaction number positively impact energy consumption, while transaction number alone does not have a significant effect.

Abstract

In the era of digital transformation, training institutions are required not only to attract new participants but also to build long-term relationships. Funnel marketing is an effective strategy, directing potential participants from awareness to becoming loyal customers. This study explores the application of funnel marketing to increase customer lifetime value (CLV) at LKP Syntax Training Centre, a certified training institution in Indonesia. Using a blended approach with a case study design, data was collected through digital marketing and management team interviews, promotional documentation analysis, and CRM data related to conversions, retention, and repurchases. The results show that at each stage of the funnel—awareness through educational content and digital advertising, interest through webinars and email nurturing, decisions through certification promo programs, and retention through loyalty programs and communication automation—can increase CLV, with retention being the most crucial stage, contributing 35% to repeat revenue. Research confirms that a systematic funnel marketing strategy can create a more meaningful participant experience, encourage repurchase, and extend relationships with institutions. Practical implications include strengthening content in the early stages to attract relevant participants as well as leveraging automation and data analytics to maintain loyalty. These findings are expected to be a strategic reference for other training institutions in optimizing digital marketing with a long-term impact.

Abstract

Mount Ciremai is the highest mountain in West Java Province which is the main destination for climbing and natural tourism. One of the official climbing trails of Mount Ciremai is in Linggasana Village which has a basecamp as a center for climbing services and information. However, the delivery of climbing information at the Linggasana Village basecamp is still carried out conventionally, so that information is difficult for prospective climbers to access widely and quickly. This research aims to design and implement a Mount Ciremai Basecamp website in Linggasana Village as an integrated and easily accessible climbing information medium. The research method used is the Waterfall method which includes the stages of needs analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The website is developed using web-based technology with an integrated database. The results of the study show that the website built is able to present climbing information effectively and help climbers in obtaining accurate information before climbing. The study also reveals that the website facilitates faster information updates, broader information coverage, and better documentation. The implications of this research indicate that the use of web-based information systems can enhance service quality, transparency, and climber preparedness, while also supporting safer and more sustainable climbing management. In conclusion, the implementation of the website provides an effective solution to overcome the limitations of conventional information delivery and contributes both practically and theoretically to the development of information systems in natural tourism management.

Abstract

In the knowledge-based economy, organizations increasingly rely on effective knowledge management to enhance innovation and maintain competitiveness. This study aims to analyze the influence of knowledge management on innovative work behavior among employees in technology companies. The research adopts a mixed approach by utilizing quantitative data collected through questionnaires distributed to employees and supported by qualitative insights from interviews and observations. The respondents consisted of 30 participants, including managerial staff and employees involved in knowledge-sharing and innovation-related activities. The findings indicate that knowledge management practices, particularly knowledge sharing, knowledge accessibility, organizational learning, and knowledge documentation, have a positive influence on employees’ innovative work behavior. Employees who actively participate in knowledge exchange activities demonstrate a higher tendency to generate, promote, and implement innovative ideas within their work environment. The results also highlight that leadership support and organizational culture play a significant role in strengthening the effectiveness of knowledge management practices. Organizations that foster collaborative learning environments and provide access to knowledge resources are more likely to encourage innovation among employees. These findings suggest that effective knowledge management systems can enhance both individual creativity and organizational innovation capacity. Therefore, technology companies are encouraged to develop structured knowledge management strategies and promote a knowledge-sharing culture to support sustainable innovation and improve organizational competitiveness in the digital era.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent global recession have significantly impacted culinary MSMEs, especially those operating in primary school environments with high dependence on a single market. This study aims to comprehensively identify and analyze the survival strategies developed by culinary MSMEs in the elementary school context in response to the post-pandemic recession. It employs a qualitative approach with an interpretive paradigm to gain an in-depth understanding of the survival strategies of culinary MSMEs within the post-pandemic elementary school environment. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and focused group discussions over 8 months, then analyzed thematically using the Sustainable Livelihood Approach framework. The findings reveal four key strategies: (1) product and market diversification, (2) extreme operational efficiency, (3) social capital mobilization, and (4) diversification of revenue sources. However, the effectiveness of these strategies is constrained by structural barriers such as limited access to formal financing and digital literacy. The study’s implications emphasize the need for contextual empowerment policies, including unsecured microcredit programs, simple digital training, and the role of school institutions as facilitators to build the resilience of micro MSMEs in limited markets.

Abstract

The protection of critical infrastructure in the digital era faces escalating cyber threats, most notably ransomware, necessitating rigorous cybersecurity strategies. This study aims to assess the current cybersecurity approaches employed in critical infrastructure sectors, determine key vulnerabilities, and highlight pressing implementation barriers amid advancing digitalization. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, the study engaged purposively selected cybersecurity professionals, IT managers, and policymakers across key infrastructure sectors. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews and document analysis, followed by thematic analysis using both inductive and deductive coding to extract salient organizational and technical themes. The analysis revealed that ransomware poses the most frequent and impactful threat, while organizations predominantly rely on traditional controls such as network segmentation and employee training. Advanced dynamic measures, such as real-time monitoring, remain underutilized. Organizational barriers—including resource constraints, regulatory ambiguity, and legacy system complexity—were consistently reported as major hindrances to effective cybersecurity implementation. These findings underline a critical need for targeted innovation, workforce development, and policy reform to bridge the gap between threat sophistication and current defense practices. The study advances theoretical understanding of cyber risk management in complex infrastructures and offers practical recommendations for future policy and organizational strategy. Study limitations include qualitative scope and sample representativeness, suggesting the need for longitudinal and sector-wide quantitative research.
