Abstract

Hypertension is a type of disease whose treatment requires patients to take medication for a long period of time, even for life. This disease can cause new diseases or various complications. So that this does not happen, a good level of compliance with the consumption of anti-hypertension drugs is needed in hypertension sufferers. By taking anti-hypertension medication you can stop the disease and normalize blood pressure levels. Compliance with treatment for hypertensive patients is the main key because hypertension is a disease that must be continuously controlled or managed so as not to cause complications with other diseases. This community service activity aims to socialize or educate the public about compliance with taking anti-hypertension drugs for hypertensive patients in the Karang Anyer Community Health Center working area. The method used was giving a pretest before the socialization was carried out and a posttest after the socialization was carried out on 25 people with hypertension who were participants in the socialization activities. From the results before the socialization was carried out, it was found that the majority of hypertension sufferers were not compliant in taking anti-hypertension medication namely 16 people (64%), and after carrying out socialization activities, it was found that there was an increase in the level of compliance of hypertension sufferers in consuming anti-hypertension drugs, namely 25 people (100%). Therefore, it can be concluded that this socialization or education activity can help hypertensive patients increase their compliance in taking anti-hypertension medication regularly.

This community service activity aimed to enhance the understanding of Al-Azhar Medan Private High School students as participants about the role of electrolytes in cardiac health and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The methods included interactive counseling through presentations, discussions, and practical activities. The materials covered the types of electrolytes, their functions, signs of imbalance, and ways to maintain electrolyte balance through a healthy diet and adequate hydration. Visual aids and real-life case examples were utilized to clarify the participants' understanding. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in the participants' knowledge of electrolyte functions and the importance of electrolyte balance for cardiac health. Most participants expressed an intention to pay more attention to their diet and electrolyte intake, and the program was effective in increasing knowledge and awareness of the importance of electrolytes for heart health. Proper education is expected to encourage adolescents to adopt a healthy lifestyle early, reducing the risk of heart disease in the future.

Abstract

The Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS), which was established on the basis of social justice, benefits, and humanity, is trying to build a program for the Indonesian people called the National Social Security System. In accordance with Law Number 40 of 2004 concerning the National Social Security System, the Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS) was established as a non-profit institution to manage the State's social security program. The community as a whole may not fully understand the implementation of the BPJS program due to the low level of socialization and understanding of the health program. The community has not fully become a BPJS participant, especially those who work in rural areas or as informal laborers (farmers or laborers), because not all of them are registered or have a BPJS card. The purpose of community service is to provide an understanding to the non-formal community regarding the importance of having BPJS Health as a form of affordable and easily accessible health protection, to motivate the non-formal community to join the BPJS health program, and to support increased access for rural communities to quality health services through the use of BPJS health facilities. Community service was carried out in Perbarakan Village, Deli Serdang Regency, with 20 people attending. This activity is effective in empowering the community to access affordable and quality health services through BPJS Kesehatan, although ongoing support is still needed to overcome existing obstacles.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding plays a crucial role in the health of mothers and infants. Providing exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of an infant's life can reduce the risk of child mortality and protect mothers from various diseases, including breast cancer. Despite its clear benefits, the global rate of exclusive breastfeeding remains low, with less than 40% of infants receiving exclusive breast milk. Factors such as maternal health issues, breast pain, and social stigma around breastfeeding in public often act as barriers. Method this program was implemented through a series of educational activities, including lectures, discussions, and Q&A sessions, emphasizing the importance of breast milk for the health of both mothers and infants. The outreach was attended by 20 breastfeeding mothers and took place on Friday, November 15, 2024, lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes. The program aims to encourage more mothers to adopt healthy breastfeeding practices. With ongoing support and guidance, it is hoped that awareness of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding will increase, positively impacting the health of mothers, infants, and families. The program also highlights the importance of collaboration among healthcare providers, the government, and the community to create an environment that supports exclusive breastfeeding.
