Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical period for the life of the mother and the newborn baby, which can often result in death. Intensive care is always needed to avoid the dangers of complications. If the postpartum mother experiences anemia, the hemoglobin level will be less than 11 gr / dl. In order for postpartum mothers to avoid anemia, it is recommended to consume at least 90 iron tablets. Green beans generally contain 6.7 mg of iron in 100 grams. This socialization activity aims to increase the knowledge of PkM participants in implementing the right actions when postpartum mothers experience anemia. The process of consuming green bean juice is also relatively practical for postpartum mothers so that it is easy to prepare. Community service activities in the form of providing material in the form of socialization, where before and after the socialization, pre and post-tests will be given to measure the increase in knowledge. PkM participants numbered 20 postpartum mothers at the Pratama Cahaya clinic. The average pre-test score for PkM participants was 57.5 or categorized as less good and there was an increase after the post-test to 74.5 which was categorized as good. It can be seen that there was an increase in knowledge of 17.0. This socialization succeeded in increasing participants' knowledge regarding the benefits of green bean juice, the process of preparing green bean juice to be served, and the impact on pregnant women if Hb levels are low during the postpartum period.

Abstract

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is a global commitment to ensure that all people have access to quality health services without facing financial hardship. In Indonesia, the National Health Insurance (JKN) program managed by BPJS Kesehatan aims to provide protection and benefits of health services, including promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services. However, challenges related to public understanding of this program are still significant. Based on observations in Perbarakan Village, Deli Serdang, the majority of people have minimal knowledge about JKN. Therefore, community service activities in the form of counseling were designed to improve their understanding of JKN. Socialization activities were carried out in Perbarakan Village, Deli Serdang Regency, involving 50 participants in the format of lectures, discussions, and questionnaire distribution. The pretest results showed low public knowledge about the JKN program, with only 35% of participants knowing basic information. After being given education, there was a significant increase in the post-test results, with 100% of respondents answering correctly, recording a 65% increase in knowledge. In addition, understanding of the procedure for moving primary health facilities increased by 48%.These findings suggest that clear and structured education can increase public awareness and understanding, which in turn supports the achievement of UHC goals. Therefore, appropriate and sustainable socialization is essential to ensure active community participation in the JKN program, so that it can expand access and utilization of quality health services. This counseling is expected to encourage public awareness to register as JKN participants, strengthen health protection, and support the achievement of UHC in Indonesia.

Abstract

Food quality needs to be considered, especially for the nutrition and chemical content contained therein. One of these chemicals can act as a sweetener which can enhance the taste and aroma of a product. The artificial sweetener is saccharin, which is generally added to packaged food and beverage products. However, the permitted use of saccharin in a product is around 0.005 - 0.03%. If the quantity of saccharin exceeds the threshold, it will cause health problems such as nervous diseases, hypertension, and cancer. This socialization activity aims to educate the public to be more concerned about health by carefully reading the composition of packaged beverage products before consuming them. The Community Service activity was carried out through socialization which was attended by 20 participants, namely residents around the Lubuk Pakam sub-district. The procedure for this activity includes a pre-test, provision of materials, discussion, questions and answers, and a post-test. The increase in participant knowledge is measured based on the pre-test and post-test scores of the participants. The Community Service results showed that several packaged beverage products actually contained saccharin in amounts that exceeded the threshold. In addition, this socialization also further increases awareness and presents a more careful attitude in participants in reading the composition of packaged beverage products before consuming them. Then the results showed that there was an increase in the knowledge of Community Service participants who initially dominated the category of knowledge that was not good and quite good to good and very good. The Community Service activities through this socialization have proven to be useful in increasing participants' knowledge regarding the presence of saccharin in packaged beverage products.
