Integritas Terbuka: Peace and Interfaith Studies (INT) is an open access journal that includes multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary religious studies in the field of interfaith dialogue and peace studies. Integritas Terbuka: Peace and Interfaith Studies is part of the Open Integrity Program, an experiential and interactive program that uses the wisdom of the Open Integrity approach. The program is designed to develop skills, knowledge, and attitudes that bring to life the values of wisdom from different faiths and religions to build peace in a contemporary pluralistic world. This scientific journal (INT) focuses on an in-depth study of religious beliefs and traditions as well as interfaith dialogical relationships that influence contemporary social realities in the social dynamics of society, including: (1) research focused on the uniqueness in religious beliefs and traditions found in religious texts and best-practices of social aspects of religious experience and practice in society; (2) research that builds a broader awareness and understanding of the potential for promoting peace that is evident in dialogue between people of different faith traditions.

Abstract

Interfaith dialog plays an important role in promoting peace and understanding in diverse societies. This study examines the implementation of interfaith dialog as a key component of peace education. Using a comprehensive literature review approach, this study explores the role of interfaith dialog in the implementation of peace education. The Halaqah Damai program emerged as a concrete step to nurture tolerance, break down stigma, and foster a harmonious and inclusive society. By encouraging and utilizing dialogue as a connecting tool among individuals of different religions, peace education initiatives aim to foster mutual understanding and cooperation among Indonesia's diverse population.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan konsep agama Islam dan Katolik mengenai pernikahan, mulai dari tujuan, proses, dan tanggung jawab suami-istri. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data studi literatur terhadap teks-teks agama Islam (Al-Qur'an dan Hadis) serta Katolik (Alkitab dan Ajaran Gereja) dan literatur seperti buku dan hasil penelitian yang telah terpublikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tujuan pernikahan dalam Islam adalah membentuk keluarga yang sakinah, mawaddah, wa rahmah, sementara dalam Katolik, pernikahan dipandang sebagai bentuk kasih sayang Allah kepada umat-Nya. Selain itu, perbedaan proses pernikahan terlihat pada Islam yang diawali dengan khitbah dan akad nikah, sedangkan dalam Katolik terdapat kursus pranikah dan upacara pemberkatan. Meski terdapat perbedaan dalam konsep dan pelaksanaan, kedua agama ini sama-sama memandang pernikahan sebagai institusi sakral yang didasarkan pada cinta, komitmen, dan tanggung jawab, dengan tujuan membangun keluarga yang harmonis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan pandangan Søren Kierkegaard dan Al-Ghazali mengenai makna kematian, serta mengidentifikasi implikasi pemikiran mereka terhadap pemahaman eksistensi dan tujuan hidup. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi pustaka (library research), yang melibatkan analisis mendalam terhadap karya-karya filosofis Kierkegaard dan Al-Ghazali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kierkegaard memandang kematian sebagai transisi menuju kehidupan yang lebih tinggi dan transendental, di mana kematian fisik dianggap sebagai akhir dari keputusasaan spiritual yang menghalangi pencapaian otentisitas eksistensi manusia. Sebaliknya, Al-Ghazali memandang kematian sebagai pengingat akan kefanaan dunia dan sebagai awal dari kehidupan yang lebih baik di sisi Allah bagi mereka yang mempersiapkan diri dengan baik melalui tindakan moral dan spiritual. Kontribusi penelitian ini terletak pada pemahaman yang lebih mendalam mengenai bagaimana ajaran Kristen dan Islam mempengaruhi pemikiran kedua tokoh besar ini dalam melihat kematian, serta relevansi pemikiran mereka dalam konteks eksistensial manusia masa kini.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the differences in the spiritual mysticism of Sufism between Imam al-Ghazali and Ibn Arabi from their respective perspectives. Using a qualitative approach with a literature review method, this research analyzes the concepts, practices, and manifestations of Sufism in both religious and social contexts. Data were collected through an in-depth literature study of the thoughts of these two figures. The findings of the study show that Imam al-Ghazali's understanding of Sufism focuses more on morality and the purification of the soul, while Ibn Arabi places greater emphasis on the metaphysical aspect and wahdat al-wujud (unity of being). The thoughts of both figures were also influenced by Greek philosophy, which led to differences in the style of their spiritual views. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the variations in Sufi thought and its relevance in the modern context.

Abstract

Kemunculan konflik dan kekerasan di media sosial semakin meningkat seiring dengan pencarian pengakuan oleh individu di dunia maya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis akar konflik dan kekerasan di media sosial menggunakan teori pengakuan Axel Honneth. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi literatur terhadap pemikiran Honneth dan fenomena konflik di media sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa upaya individu untuk mencari pengakuan dan validasi eksistensial di media sosial sering kali berujung pada komentar negatif, ujaran kebencian, dan kekerasan. Studi ini berkontribusi dalam memberikan perspektif alternatif untuk memahami dan mengatasi konflik dan kekerasan di media sosial melalui pendekatan teori pengakuan.

Abstract

Education is a complex and broad topic that involves various concepts, theories, and methods of analysis. Discussions on education are not limited to the teaching and learning processes; they also encompass philosophical issues and policies that are often opaque. The processes of refinement and transformation in education are ongoing, making it a continually engaging topic for discussion. Education plays a crucial role in uniting diverse communities and serves as a powerful tool for the state in building human resources. However, the main challenge lies in determining the appropriate curriculum, considering the complexity and multitude of factors affecting the educational system. This study employs an inductive method to address educational issues in Indonesia by examining the curriculum through the lens of Paulo Freire. By referencing his book Pedagogy of the Oppressed, this research aims to identify the concept of "ideal educational practice" in relation to liberating education. It utilizes both primary and secondary sources to understand the critiques and applications of education in Indonesia. The study analyzes Freire's thoughts and their connection to curriculum practices, culminating in fundamental questions regarding ideal education and the complexities faced. The findings will be presented in a descriptive analysis format, providing a comprehensive overview of educational problems. According to Freire, the domination of power creates oppressive education, contradicting the aims of liberating education. Education should cultivate individual awareness as part of a community, fostering responsibility and contributions to the common good. Educational institutions need to balance the vision of achievement with the mission of student development. All stakeholders—institutions, teachers, and students—must focus on meaningful educational objectives to create a quality educational system.

Abstract

This research aims to explore Calvinist ethics as a foundation for tolerance in religious life within pluralistic societies. Calvinist ethics, with its principles of predestination, hard work, simplicity, and social responsibility, demonstrates significant potential to foster social harmony and interfaith tolerance. This study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review of relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings indicate that the doctrine of predestination provides a theological foundation for respecting individual freedom and fostering mutual respect. Furthermore, the principles of hard work and simplicity in Calvinism promote the reduction of social disparities, which are among the primary causes of religious conflict. In the Indonesian context, these values can be applied to overcome social segregation and create inclusive interfaith relationships. Examples from Calvinist communities in Indonesia and the Netherlands confirm how Calvinist principles facilitate interfaith dialogue and support social harmony. This research expands previous discussions by introducing a new dimension to understanding the relationship between Calvinism and religious pluralism. The integration of love, justice, and religious freedom into the modern societal context establishes Calvinism as not only a theological tradition but also an ethical framework relevant for addressing the challenges of religious pluralism.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the application of the principles of Islamic moderation (wasatiyyah) in addressing the challenges of identity politics, particularly in mitigating social polarization based on religion and ideology. The study employs a qualitative approach with data collection through literature review. The findings show that the values of Islamic moderation, such as balance, social justice, and compassion, play a significant role in creating inclusive and peaceful politics. The principles of wasatiyyah promote dialogue between groups, prevent identity-based conflicts in Indonesia, and establish fair and harmonious political policies. These findings also confirm that the implementation of Islamic moderation values can strengthen social and political stability in diverse societies. This research contributes to the development of theories and practices in politics based on the values of religious moderation and offers new perspectives for formulating strategies to address political polarization in multicultural societies.
