Journal of Educational Management Research is an international peer-reviewed journal which publishes original and significant contributions to educational management, administration, and leadership, in its broadest sense, from all over the world. This includes primary research projects in schools and further vocational and higher education institutions. This journal encourages contributions that respond to important issues in management education. Contributions may be either conceptual or empirical and are welcomed from any topic area and country so long as they primarily focus on management or organization in education. Although our core areas of interest are organizational behaviour and management in education, we are also interested in leadership, public relation, human resource management, social issues in management, financial management, organizational development, critical management studies, etc. Authors are strongly encouraged to have their work reviewed and evaluated by their colleagues prior to submission for formal editorial review.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the implementation of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) on the efficiency of educational data management. Using a quantitative approach with an associative design, the research involved 66 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through two questionnaires: one for assessing EMIS implementation (21 items) and one for evaluating educational data management efficiency (20 items). Both instruments were validated and tested for reliability using SPSS version 27. Data analysis included normality testing (Kolmogorov– Smirnov test), homogeneity testing (Levene’s test), and hypothesis testing (simple linear regression analysis). The results showed a significant effect of EMIS implementation on data management efficiency, with a significance value of <0.000 and an R Square value of 0.437. This indicates that EMIS contributes 43.7% to improving educational data management efficiency. The findings suggest that the adoption of EMIS can enhance administrative efficiency and facilitate more effective management of educational data.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of spiritual motivation based on Al-Zarnuji’s perspective on students’ Aqidah Akhlaq learning achievement, while integrating the educational management dimension of instructional supervision as a mediating context. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 88 Grade X students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a spiritual motivation questionnaire (initially 40 items, reduced to 13 after validity testing) and documentation of semester scores. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results showed a positive relationship between spiritual motivation and learning achievement (r = 0.386), indicating a low to moderate correlation. Regression analysis revealed a positive effect of spiritual motivation on achievement (Y = 69.99 + 0.27X). These findings imply that spiritual motivation contributes meaningfully to academic performance, though its influence remains moderate. From an educational management perspective, the results underscore the importance of integrating instructional supervision and curriculum planning to systematically embed Al-Zarnuji’s spiritual motivation values into the teaching of Aqidah Akhlaq. This study offers practical implications for Islamic school administrators in designing motivation-based academic policies. .

Abstract

This study aims to compare the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic educational institutions by examining similarities and differences in the aspects of planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational quality. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation to capture both managerial practices and institutional values. The findings indicate that TQM is implemented through two distinct approaches: a systematic and modern model that emphasizes structured management and data-driven decision-making, and a traditional approach that prioritizes moral development and spiritual values. Despite these differences, both approaches share a common objective of improving educational quality based on Islamic principles. Furthermore, the study highlights that the integration of professional management practices with strong spiritual foundations creates a more comprehensive and sustainable quality management system. It implies that the success of TQM in Islamic education depends on balancing managerial effectiveness and spiritual commitment as a unified framework for continuous improvement.

Abstract

Financial management in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions is essential for ensuring sustainability and improving educational quality. However, challenges such as limited funding, weak financial administration, and lack of transparency are still common. This study aims to analyze the financial management cycle in PAUD, including funding sources, budgeting (RAPBS), implementation, and accountability. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, drawing data from books, journals, and relevant documents. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The findings indicate that effective financial management must be based on principles of transparency, accountability, efficiency, effectiveness, and participation. A systematic budgeting process, proper financial administration, and transparent reporting enhance public trust and institutional sustainability. Therefore, improving managerial competence and adopting adaptive financial systems are necessary to optimize financial governance in PAUD institutions.

Abstract

This study investigates the transformational leadership model employed by faculty deans in driving international accreditation achievement within private higher education. Employing a qualitative case study design with purposive sampling, data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with nine participants—a dean, five lecturers, and four students—and analyzed using systematic thematic analysis supported by ATLAS.ti software. The analysis identified three overarching themes that form a seven-dimensional, three-layer leadership model extending Bass and Riggio's (2006) framework by integrating foundational value dimensions with operational-contextual and impact dimensions: Idealized Influence as the foundation of institutional trust; Inspirational Motivation and Intellectual Stimulation as drivers of collective commitment; and Individualized Consideration and Strategic Leadership as mechanisms for sustainable institutional development. This model facilitated the international accreditation of three study programs, nearly doubled student enrollment, and measurably improved faculty performance. The findings offer a theoretically grounded and empirically validated reference for higher education leaders pursuing institutional internationalization.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of character education values based on Ta’limul Muta’allim and their role in shaping the ethical behavior of santri, with a focus on the learning process, influencing factors, and educational management practices. A qualitative field research approach was employed, with data collected through observation, indepth interviews, and documentation involving teachers, administrators, and students. Data analysis was conducted using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing through an inductive approach, while validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the learning process is carried out through traditional methods such as bandongan and sorogan, combined with direct character value internalization. The implemented values include sincerity, humility (tawadhu’), discipline, patience, and respect for teachers, which are reflected in students’ daily behavior. These values contribute to the development of ethical attitudes such as respect, responsibility, and obedience to institutional rules. Supporting factors include a religious environment, teacher role modeling, and structured habituation, while inhibiting factors involve differences in student backgrounds and levels of awareness. The study implies that effective educational management, particularly in planning, supervision, and character-based learning strategies, is essential to strengthen the internalization of ethical values and ensure sustainable character development.

Abstract

This study aims to develop UNO card-based learning media and analyze its validity and practicality in teaching economic growth and development. In the context of rapid digitalization, learning environments face challenges such as decreased student concentration and over-reliance on technology, which often reduce engagement and learning effectiveness. Therefore, innovative, non-digital, and interactive learning media are needed to support meaningful learning experiences. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the 4D model, consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, student questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The findings indicate that the developed media achieved a very high level of validity (96.75%) and practicality (94.4%). The media aligns well with curriculum standards and student characteristics, enhancing its instructional relevance. The interactive game structure increases student motivation, participation, and engagement. The visual and structural design supports readability and usability. The media is flexible and does not require internet access, making it suitable for diverse contexts. It also promotes collaborative and active learning. This study contributes to the development of game-based learning in economics education and recommends further research to examine its effectiveness on learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of transformational leadership and organizational climate on employee performance within a public service institution. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving 85 employees selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to determine the partial and simultaneous effects of the independent variables on employee performance. The findings indicate that transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on employee performance with a moderate level of influence, while organizational climate shows a positive and significant effect with a stronger level of influence. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence employee performance, with organizational climate having a more dominant contribution than transformational leadership. These results imply that strengthening a supportive and conducive organizational climate should be prioritized to improve employee performance. In addition, leaders need to enhance individualized consideration to ensure fair, inclusive, and sustainable engagement across all employees.

Abstract

The goal of strengthening religious character in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah education is often overshadowed by a focus on cognitive and technical skills. Qur'anic literacy, encompassing reading and writing, holds significant potential for internalizing religious values, but studies on this process are limited. This qualitative case study analyzes how Qur'anic literacy helps internalize religious character values in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students, focusing on grades IV, V, and VI. Data was collected from teachers, students, and madrasah heads through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings show that Qur'anic literacy goes beyond technical skills and serves as a medium for instilling values like discipline, responsibility, dedication to learning, and respect for the Qur'an. The internalization process is facilitated through teacher role models, habit formation, and value reinforcement integrated into literacy activities. This research suggests practical ways to enhance religious character education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah by optimizing Qur'anic literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the educational management policy of multidisciplinary Islamic education, particularly the integration of religious and general knowledge within the Islamic Education (PAI) curriculum. A qualitative approach was employed using descriptive analysis to explore how curriculum policies are designed and implemented in response to contemporary educational demands. The findings indicate that the curriculum, as a key instrument in achieving educational goals, is dynamic and continuously evolving to meet 21st-century competencies, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and digital literacy. The implementation of a multidisciplinary curriculum reflects a strategic policy effort to integrate religious and general sciences, positioning them as complementary rather than separate domains. This integration supports the development of holistic learners who are both intellectually competent and spiritually grounded. From an educational management perspective, the study highlights the importance of policy planning, curriculum organization, and implementation strategies in ensuring effective integration. The findings imply that multidisciplinary curriculum policies can enhance the relevance and adaptability of Islamic education systems, enabling institutions to respond to modern challenges while maintaining their foundational values.
