Abstract

Degenerative diseases, such as stroke or cerebrovascular accident (CVA), have increased in prevalence in Indonesia. Risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and unhealthy eating habits are major contributors. Proper nutritional management, including a low-salt and high-potassium diet, plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation of stroke patients. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the diet provided to CVA patients at Baptis Kediri Hospital. A descriptive study with a case study approach was used. The study was conducted on Mr. A, a 49-year-old male patient diagnosed with intracerebral hemorrhage. Data were collected through four-day physical examinations, clinical data, and nutritional care. The results showed that the patient's blood pressure decreased after implementing a low-salt and high-potassium diet, although blood pressure remained fluctuating. The patient's energy and nutrient intake were calculated based on their daily energy needs adjusted to their physical condition. Providing a proper diet according to nutritional needs improved the patient's intake and potentially accelerated recovery. The study concludes that proper nutritional management plays a significant role in stroke rehabilitation by meeting the patient's calorie, protein, fat, and carbohydrate requirements.

Abstract

The injectable contraceptive is one of the most popular methods of family planning in Indonesia. Education level and parity play a significant role in the decision-making process for choosing a contraceptive method. The decision to participate in a family planning program is often driven by one’s way of thinking, opinions, and the belief that the number of children already meets their desires. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between education level and parity with the choice of injectable contraceptive at PMB Reti Endang in Sanankulon District, Blitar Regency It is a quantitative approach with a correlational design and cross-sectional method. The independent variables in this study are education level and parity, while the dependent variable is the choice of injectable contraceptive. The population for this study consists of 38 injectable contraceptive acceptors at PMB Reti Endang, with 35 respondents selected using simple random sampling. The research was conducted from August 10 to 31, 2024, using a questionnaire as the instrument and analyzing data with chi-square. The results show that 26 respondents (74.3%) have a secondary education level, 24 respondents (68.6%) have a moderate parity, and 20 respondents (57.1%) use the 3-month injectable contraceptive. The chi-square test results indicate a moderate relationship between education level and the choice of injectable contraceptive (p-value 0.030 and r 0.485) and a moderate relationship between parity and the choice of injectable contraceptive (p-value 0.015 and r 0.511). Education level influences the mindset and decision-making of contraceptive acceptors in determining which contraceptive method to use. Similarly, the parity of the individual also determines the choice of contraceptive method for spacing or stopping pregnancies.

Abstract

Gastritis is inflammation of the gastric mucosa caused by various factors, including Helicobacter pylori infection, irregular eating patterns, stress, and the consumption of alcohol and certain medications. Gastritis can be acute or chronic, with symptoms such as epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, and bleeding. Treatment for gastritis involves conservative and pharmacological therapy, with a focus on pain management. This study aims to assess nursing care for gastritis patients with the primary issue of acute pain through the implementation of deep breathing relaxation techniques at Iryou Houjin Aiwakai Clinic, Japan. The research used a case study method with data collection through observation, interviews, physical examinations, and document studies. The results show that nursing interventions using deep breathing relaxation techniques reduced the pain scale from 5 to 3 within 3x24 hours. Additionally, the administration of medications such as Polaprezinc, Tsumura Rikkunshito, Polikarbophil C, and Lansoprazole was effective in alleviating gastritis symptoms. Nursing evaluation was carried out by analyzing the patient's response to the interventions, which showed a reduction in symptoms. This study concludes that a combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies can accelerate the healing process in gastritis patients.
