Abstract

Language is the identity of a country or region because language is the most important element of communication or the most important means of communication. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research format. The results of the data obtained were analyzed in depth, then compared to obtain more relevant research results. The results of the study showed a number of important findings regarding language errors in the use of TikTok social media. These findings not only reflect the types of errors that often occur, but also reveal the factors that influence them and their impact on their language development. Lack of understanding in communication can lead to misunderstandings and conflicts, and reduce the quality of social interaction.

Abstract

Storytelling is one of the habits of ancient people in conveying a message or telling an activity that has happened. A person's storytelling skills are closely related to the speaking skills that the person has. There are two important elements that must be mastered by students in storytelling, namely linguistics and the elements of what is told. Accuracy of speech, grammar, vocabulary, fluency and smoothness, illustrate that students have good speaking skills. Departing from the phenomena in the field, researchers see that students' storytelling skills are still lacking. This study aims to explore the improvement of storytelling skills in students of early childhood education study programs using picture cards. The method used is a quantitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The results show a significant increase in storytelling skills using picture cards.

Abstract

The development of the times is accompanied by progress in various fields of life, such as science, technology, and economics. Progress is also felt in the scientific field of journalism. One of the terms in the field of journalism that is commonly known by the general public is print mass media, such as newspapers. Today's newspapers are not only printed on paper, but many newspapers have created their own blogs or pages so that news can be read online. The aim of this research is to analyze language errors based on the classification of linguistic categories, namely syntax, which includes the areas of spelling and sentence effectiveness. The data source is several news stories published on the detikNews website in the February 2024 edition. The data was then analyzed using the listening method and note-taking techniques. The results of the research showed that there were 52 errors in the use of spelling and punctuation, which were described as follows: a) there were 11 errors in writing foreign words; b) there were 8 errors in writing numbers; c) there were 13 errors in writing capital letters; d) there were 15 errors in the use of punctuation marks; e) there were 5 errors in writing pronouns. Apart from that, there were 44 errors in the use of ineffective sentences, which are described as follows: a) there were 14 errors in choosing diction; b) there are 10 sentences with no subject or predicate; c) there are 9 sentences with overlapping words; d) there are 11 long-winded sentences. It is hoped that the results of the analysis in this article will increase understanding and deeper knowledge regarding linguistics, namely syntax, including the areas of spelling and word choice and their use, knowledge about the types, as well as providing suitable teaching materials for class X high school students for them to carry out assessments and considerations. about adolescent social behavior critically.

Abstract

Syntax is a branch of linguistics that studies phrases, clauses and sentences. This article focuses more on analyzing sentences in a text, where the sentence itself is a language unit that is relatively independent, has final intonation, and actually or potentially consists of clauses. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of sentences in opinion texts on the August 2023 edition of “Harian Jogja” as educational reading in terms of sentence structure and word choice. The type of research method used is descriptive qualitative research method and syntactic approach. The research data are the results of identifying ineffective sentences used in opinion texts on the “Harian Jogja” August 2023 Edition as Educational Reading. The data collection technique used is the syntactic approach in the form of listening and note-taking techniques. The informal method is used as a data presentation technique in this research. The data presentation is written in the form of a table containing some ineffective sentences and their improvements. From the analysis, 121 sentences were found consisting of 58 effective sentences and 63 ineffective sentences. In the opinion text titled “Peubahan Iklim dan Peran Masyarakat Memilah Sampah” there are 17 effective sentences and 22 ineffective sentences. In the opinion text titled “Mencermati Arsitektur RAPBN 2024,” there are 19 effective sentences and 18 ineffective sentences. In the opinion text titled “Peluang dan Tantangan Pertukaran Karbon,” there are 22 effective sentences and 23 ineffective sentences. This research produces several ineffective sentences which are classified into 3 namely waste in the use of words, inaccuracy in the use of words, and the last is the incompatibility of the information provided. In this analysis, the researcher uses one of the opinion texts as an example or sample, namely the opinion text entitled “Perubahan Iklim dan Peran Masyarakat dalam Memilah Sampah”. From the analysis of the opinion text which is composed of 39 sentences, there are 22 ineffective sentences. This study is useful as a guideline for writing effective sentences, besides that writers can pay more attention to writing in an opinion text that is by the rules of language.

Abstract

The study aims to examine Pancasila as an ethical system in politics and government in Indonesia. Pancasila, which consists of five principles, is not only the foundation of the state but also a moral guideline that directs political and governmental behavior. This study uses a qualitative type of library research with a descriptive approach, which is a type of research that focuses on a phenomenon with data obtained in the form of literature that is naturally described in the form of words or writing. The results of the study obtained are in the context of political ethics, Pancasila functions as a moral identity that guides citizens and the government to act in accordance with ethical principles that are fair, wise, and in accordance with the values ​​of humanity, unity, and people's sovereignty. The implementation of political ethics based on Pancasila ensures that political actions are not only focused on power, but also morally and socially responsible to society. In government, Pancasila is the main guideline that ensures that the government acts for the welfare of all Indonesian people, by respecting the values ​​of humanity, justice, and unity. Every decision and policy taken by a leader must reflect the values ​​contained in Pancasila, such as divinity, humanity, democracy, and social justice. Pancasila is not only the basis of the country's constitution, but also an ethical system that guides the government in carrying out its duties with integrity, morality, and commitment to the interests of the people and the state.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of physical education for elementary school children on character formation in the modern era. By using the literature review method, which begins with identifying relevant sources. The results of the research show that physical education in the modern era has a very important role in development. holistic children. Physical education does not only focus on physical aspects, but also includes cognitive, effective and psychomotor development. Physical education contributes to the formation of students' character and social skills in the modern era. In this context, the role of teachers as role models is crucial, where they are expected to deliver materials in creative and interactive ways, including utilizing digital platforms such as TikTok to attract students' interest. The research also highlights the challenges faced in implementing physical education, such as the lack of facilities and resources and the need for professional training for teachers to improve the quality of learning. Thus, physical education is expected to contribute not only to students' physical health, but also to the development of social skills and adaptability in an increasingly digitalized world.

Abstract

Language diversity allows each person to use more than one language. The use of several languages ​​in communication presents the potential for code mixing and code switching. These two linguistic events often occur in various environments, even in the mass media. This study aims to describe (1) the types and forms of code switching in the film Ngeri Ngeri Sedap; (2) factors that cause code switching in the film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap; and (3) the use of the analysis results as a review of communication between teenagers in the school environment. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection technique used is the free listening technique with advanced techniques in the form of note-taking techniques. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that: (1) there are 15 internal code switching data involving Indonesian, Batak, Sundanese, and Javanese. (2) the results of the analysis can be used as a review of communication between teenagers in the school environment.

Abstract

Mathematics plays an important role in everyday life, including in the development of human thinking power, science, and technology, although it seems unreal and abstract. This study aims to determine the Effect of the Flipped Classroom Learning Model on Numeracy Literacy of Class VIII Students of Gajah Mada Private Middle School. The methodology of this study uses a quantitative quasi-experimental research type with a posttest in two classes. The population of this study were students of class VIII A, VIII B, VIII C at Gajah Mada Private Middle School with a total of 80 students. The sample in this study was class VIII B, and VIII C. The data sampling technique was carried out using the cluster random sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out with a posttest in both classes. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that "The Effect of the Flipped Classroom Learning Model on Numeracy Literacy of Class VIII Students of Gajah Mada Private Middle School". The data of this study are quantitative data obtained from the numeracy literacy test. Data analysis using the t-test. The results of the data analysis show that the ability of numeracy literacy in the Flipped Classroom learning model is higher than numeracy literacy without using the Flipped Classroom learning model. Thus, the flipped class learning model has an effect on students' numeracy literacy.

Abstract

The learning model applied during the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way students learn, so that student activity in the learning process in class is still low and there are many student absences after the pandemic. Almost 2 years of the pandemic have required students to study from their respective homes so that students are increasingly lazy or less active in learning. This is the basis for the idea of ​​how to make them more effective in learning by using postcard media. Postcard media is a media containing questions related to learning that must be answered by students by taking lucky coupons. The purpose of this study is 1) To describe the teacher's process in implementing postcard media in building student activity in learning in class XI of SMK Ma'arif NU Kajen. 2) To analyze the level of student activity of class XI of SMK Ma'arif NU Kajen through the application of postcard media in learning. This classroom action research was conducted at SMK Ma'arif NU Kajen with the research subjects of class XI students totaling 72 students with almost the same academic abilities, able to understand simple materials, but the level of student activity is low, the majority are less brave in expressing ideas, ideas and opinions. Data collection techniques include questionnaire sheets and documentation. Data analysis used is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results of the study showed that the process of implementing postcard media which was carried out through three stages, namely the process of designing a learning plan, the process of implementing learning, and the process of evaluating the use of learning media has been implemented well by teachers. In cycle I, the results of the questionnaire showed that the application of postcard media to increase student activity was successful with an average score reaching 86%. In cycle II, the application of postcard media to increase student activity was successful with an average questionnaire score reaching 88%. Postcard media has proven to be effective in increasing student activity in learning. For teachers, it is expected to be able to improve learning media so that students can be encouraged to be active in class. For schools, it is expected to be able to provide adequate facilities, especially the provision of teaching aids so that teachers can be more free in creating a creative learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of social skills of 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta in the 2023/2024 school year and to find out the low items to be proposed as guidance topics. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with the subjects in this study are 7th grade students in the 2023/2024 school year. Determination of the sample from the population was carried out using calculations made by Issac and Michel with an error of 10%. Data collection was carried out using a social skills scale with 46 valid items with a Cronbach alpha reliability index of 0.945 which is in the very strong category. The scale is arranged based on 5 (five) aspects, namely cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistics, using the SPSS Ver. 25. With the results, most of the 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta in the 2023/2024 school year have high social skills. The results showed that in 166 students, 35% of students had a very high level of social skills, 55% of students had a high level of social skills, and 10% of students had a moderate level of social skills. There are no low items on the social skills scale that will be proposed as guidance topics.
