Abstract

Utilizing white pepper peel waste (Pipper nigrum L.) as compost can minimize the problem of pepper peel waste. This research uses black soldier flies (BSF), the results of which are maggots as fertilizer for the growth of potpourri tomato plants (Lycopersicon pimpinellifolium). The aim of this research is to determine the quality of compost from white pepper skin waste resulting from bioconversion using BSF, and its effect on the growth of potpourri tomato plants. This research used an experimental method by pre-fermenting white pepper skin waste using 50 ml EM4 for 2, 3, 4 weeks and then using it as food for BSF larvae. Next, the cassava results are applied to potpourri tomato plants with P1 (1 kg of soil: 5 kg of cassava 2 weeks), P2 (1 kg of soil: 5 kg of cassava 3 weeks), P3 (1 soil: 5 kg of cassava 4 weeks), P4 (1 kg : 10 kg cashgot 2 weeks), P5 (1 kg : 10 kg cashgot 3 weeks), P6 (1 kg : 10 kg cashgot 4 weeks) and control (soil without cashgot). The data were analyzed using ANOVA via the SPSS 26 application. The cassava application showed that there was a significant effect on the highest plant height P6 (22.98 inches), the highest stem diameter P1 (4.58 mm), the highest number of leaves P3 (108.67 leaves), the highest fruit diameter was P2 (17.97) and the highest fruiting time was P0 (29.75). The highest number of fruit is P1 (13 fruits/plant), the highest fruit weight is P5 (39 grams/plant). In conclusion, P1 treatment is the best quality compost for the growth of potpourri tomatoes which is thought to have N (0.22%), P (0.15%), K (0.01%), C-organic (5.84) and a C/ N (26.5).

Abstract

Galangal (Kaempferia galanga L) is a plant in the Zingiberaceae family. Galangal is known as a famous traditional medicine in ancient times, kencur is generally used as a medicine for sore throats. Galangal can also be used as a medicine for bloating which can be used by pounding it first or can be consumed directly by chewing. Galangal can be processed first into traditional herbal medicine (kencur rice), processing kencur into traditional herbal medicine itself requires several other additional ingredients, as for the processing method, the galangal rhizome and ginger are washed first, then ground until soft and smooth. Then roast the rice flour and cinnamon, and wash the cardamom and then mash it until smooth, then squeeze it and then extract the juice. Majakerta is a sub-district located in Majalaya sub-district, apart from Majakerta in Majalaya there are also several other sub-districts, namely Biru, Bojong, Majasetra, Neglasari, Padamulya, Padaulu, Sukamaju, Sukamukti, Wangisagara, Cipaku, Rajadesa, and Drawati.

Abstract

According to the Central Statistics Agency for 2019-2021, the harvested area and area of corn plants according to districts/cities, corn production comes from five districts, namely Bualemo district, Gorontalo district, Pohuwato district, Bone Bolango district, North Gorontalo district and Gorontalo city with a total of 377 432.00 ha in 2019, 304 945.00 ha in 2020, and 334 945.00 ha in 2021. By the end of 2022 it is predicted that 340,500 hectares or 27.38 percent of the entire Gorontalo land area will be planted with hybrid corn with a total harvest estimated at 1.61 million tons. This research uses qualitative methods, with primary data sources and secondary data. Corn productivity affects the net income of corn farmers apart from the selling price, where low productivity causes minimal harvest results, so the farmer's income is also low. Apart from that, fluctuations in corn prices are also an obstacle in increasing net income, when corn prices are high farmers get bigger profits. However, when the price of corn falls, farmers' income will also decrease. To increase the competitiveness of corn commodities in Gorontalo Province, it is necessary to invest in improving agricultural technology, opening wider market access, and providing greater government policy support. In this way, corn commodities in Gorontalo Province can become more competitive in both local and international markets.

Abstract

Ethnobotany is the field of science that explains how humans interact with the plants around them. The most common use of plants is as food and medicine. Surawung or basil leaves are one of the plants commonly used as food. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of surawung other than as food. Samples were taken using snowball sampling method in Cinunuk Village. From 30 respondents, about 17% of them used surawung for their health reasons. It is known that surawung leaves have antibacterial bioactive content. Even so, most respondents did not know in detail about the benefits of surawung leaves.
