Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company that engaged in the heavy equipment repair industry. In carrying out the company's business processes, the departments at PT. XYZ is required to be integrated with each other in order to achieve productivity. One of the departments at PT. XYZ is a fabrication department, which consists of a welding bay and a machining bay. This department consists of 3 workers with 1 main operator and 2 helpers. The level of productivity in this department is still below 80% or at a low level. In calculating worker productivity, data was collected using the stopwatch time study method. Furthermore, the data is classified as productive, supporting, and also non-productive activities according to the company's criteria. Then a Pareto Chart is formed to determine the largest percentage of causes from non-productive activities and also supports it along with a fishbone diagram that shows the root cause of the problems in the machining bay department. In the machining bay fabrication process, employee productivity only reaches 42% and support at 30%, and the non-productive rate reaches 28%. Pareto analysis was carried out in the support and non-productive categories, obtained a cumulative percentage of 80% in the support category, namely weekly routine at 33%, discussion at 31%, and clean up at 26%, while in the non-productive category there was rest with 41%, waiting at 24%, and personal time by 22%. Based on the Pareto chart that has been analyzed, the problems that dominate in the machining bay are re-analyzed regarding the root problems that occur at PT. XYZ. Based on the fishbone diagram, the main problems occur in man, method, management, and machine.

Abstract

UPTD Industrial Work Training Center is an agency engaged in professional training to gain skills or deepen expertise in their respective fields. In these fields, especially in the training department, there are often potential hazards. The results of work accidents in the training process at the Balikpapan Industrial Work Training Center UPTD using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method. This method starts from identifying potential hazards, then collecting data directly which aims to obtain information about the hazards that can occur at each step of the activity and solutions as controls. In the welding process there are several stages, namely in the first stage doing bench work practices, manual materials, welding, material cutting then electric welding. The JSA Training found 66 potentially hazardous events including: Bench Work Process as many as 15 potential hazards, manual cutting machines as many as 4 potential hazards, gas welding as many as 18 potential hazards, machine cutting as many as 13 potential hazards, electric welding 10 potential hazards and quality process control as many as 6 potential hazards. In the implementation of the welding training, the most dangerous potential is gas welding with 18 potential hazards, while the quality control stage has the least potential hazard compared to other stages. Hazard management at the UPTD of the Balikpapan Industrial Work Training Center is carried out by Engineering Control, Administration, and using PPE as ways to prevent work accidents.

Abstract

PT SPPA is a company that deals with the repair of mining components or heavy equipment. The company serves repairs and inspections of various types of machines, such as generators, welding machines, compressors, water pumps, and tractors. The fabrication department needs improvement in terms of structuring the work environment, especially in the toolkit area. The fabrication department is a part of the company which in carrying out its duties includes fabrication works such as material surface smoothing, component welding, the process of unification between parts in an item. In the area where the toolkit is located, it can be seen that the area is not well-organized, such as a hose that is not properly coiled, equipment collected on a large scale, and also there are still some unused items that give the impression of filling the space area of the toolkit. Therefore, a proposal for improvement is made using the 5S method, namely Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke or can be interpreted as Concise, Neat, Clean, Treat, Diligent. This method can be used to produce a higher quality work area related to these five aspects, so as to reduce or eliminate the time to look for equipment in it. Then, suggestions for improvements through 3D designs are also generated based on previous evaluations regarding the similarity of item functions.

Abstract

The application of performance management is very influential in knowing the performance of a performance system. Standard operating procedures (SOP) can affect the existing performance system in the company. This is because standard operating procedures are intended as a basic reference in the implementation of the production process in the event of an error or violation. The existence of SOPs helps in finding production errors. This research is located at PT. XYZ, which is one of the support offices engaged in the overhaul of heavy equipment components. The preparation of the SOP was motivated by the need to clarify the workflow on updating the gudang inventory system and to emphasize the concept of existing collaboration. The preparation of the SOP uses the swimlane diagram method. Swimlane diagram is an activity diagram to represent an activity by showing the actors involved in it which is described as a swimming pool path. This study uses a qualitative data approach, data collection is done by direct observation in the field, and interviews. The results of the study there are 8 stages of the work process on the inventory system of PT. XYZ and with the preparation of SOPs using swimlane diagrams, there are parties or actors who are directly related to the inventory system of PT. XYZ which consists of 2 pools and 5 lanes. Pool 1 is a production department consisting of 2 lanes, namely the perencanaan team and the demolition department. Pool 2 is an inventory department consisting of 3 lanes, namely gudang team, inventory team, and purchasing.
