Abstract

The color guard requires body coordination, concentration, and mastery of equipment. Color guard performances are not just shown off, but are presented in the context of competition. Color guard players often feel adrenaline during the performance, but how performer manage this case through their experience. The quality of this symptom is analyzed using a scalpel from Jackson and Mihaly's perspective regarding the flow experience when playing color guard, especially the differences that appear during pre-performance and during the performance. So that the research does not spread in all directions, the researcher more specifically discusses research on the performance of the color guard in the La Tansa Coprs Marching Band at the 2023 Grand Prix Junior Band Championship and seek 2 performances before, which are 2017 Grand Prix Junior Band Championship and 2017 Grand Prix Marching Band Championship. The researcher uses direct observation to see the reality of what happened and explains it descriptively. The results of the research found that the quality of the La Tansa Corps Marching Band color guard players was able to create a great connection with the spectators through the performers' subjective experiences.

Abstract

The aim of learning dance is to develop sensory perception through various creative artistic experiences according to the character and stage of development of students' abilities at each level of education. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research, namely with the aim of explaining and providing an overview of events in the field, using the approach used in the research, namely the art education approach and Art in Education (AiE). Learning the art of traditional dance for class VII C students at State Junior High School 04, Serang City, is able to provide a meaningful and holistic experience in accordance with the competency demands in the 2013 (K-13) curriculum because the dance contains many meanings, starting from how to appreciate someone, and proves that people can still live in harmony, despite the diversity and differences that exist in Banten.

Abstract

The process of innovation of Jaipongan dance movement that occurs among the younger generation is more popular than the ketuk tilu style. To keep Jaipongan relevant and popular with this generation, It is important for choreographers to continue innovating the dance. With technology changing so fast, choreographers face a new challenge in their creative process. The constant influx of outside cultures demands that choreographers to be active, creative, innovative to keep pace with the times. The purpose of this research is to find out how the process of creation, motion discovery, and innovation of jaipongan dance that carried out at the Gondo Art Production Dance Clinic using the Jacqueline Smith Construction Method. This research helps dance studios and art institutions understand how dance movements are created and improved. With this knowledge, they can develop new dance works in a more organized way, with stronger ideas and concepts. The research method used is Jacqueline Smith's Construction method. Jacqueline Smith's dance construction consists of 8 stages which are used as a reference for the process of creating dance works. The data collection techniques in this research are observation, interview, literature study and documents. Gondo Art Production Dance Clinic is a dance studio that actively innovates. The style of dance presentation including the main and supporting elements of dance has been innovated by Gondo. This includes everything from the initial ideas and concepts to the dance movements, structure, techniques, music, makeup, costumes, and set design. By revamping all these elements, dance performances become more engaging and different from traditional works, which can help attract younger audiences and keep cultural traditions alive.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the Ngeremo dance training process at the Dance Training Center (Pusdiklat) of the East Java Pavilion at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, including the methods of instilling character values in students and the role of Pusdiklat in this training. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies, with triangulation techniques used to validate the data. The results show that Ngremo dance is a required subject at Pusdiklat, divided into levels: Ngeremo Muda for Indria class, Ngeremo Madya for A1 class, Ngeremo Sanggit for A2 class, and Ngeremo Jombangan or Bolet for B class. Character values such as religiosity, honesty, discipline, a sense of family, and self-confidence are instilled through lectures and practical exercises. The findings reveal that Pusdiklat plays a significant role in character development through structured and tiered approaches within the Ngeremo dance training. The character values fostered among students include (a) religiosity, (b) honesty, (c) discipline, (d) a sense of family, and (e) self-confidence. This study provides data on the Ngremo dance training process, methods of instilling character values, and the role of Pusdiklat at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.

Abstract

Ronggeng Beken Dance is a cultural expression of the people of Bekasi, showcased in the Pesona Nusantara Bekasi Keren Festival. This article discusses the presentation model of the Ronggeng Beken Dance through the lens of performativity according to Richard Schechner, encompassing the elements of ritual, restored behavior, and performativity in the performance. Using a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, this study analyzes how the Ronggeng Beken Dance reflects local cultural identity while adapting to the dynamics of the multicultural society in Bekasi. Composed by Gema Nusa Patriot, the Ronggeng Beken Dance combines Betawi and Sundanese cultural elements in its movements and musical accompaniment, symbolizing the unique culture of Bekasi. The dance presentation also integrates modern props such as sunglasses, adding a "cool" or modern dimension to local tradition. The results of the study show that this performance serves not only as entertainment but also as a medium to strengthen the cultural identity of the Bekasi community in a large-scale festival. Schechner's performativity perspective helps to understand the dynamics of the Ronggeng Beken Dance presentation, which creates space for social and cultural transformation within the multicultural community.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe dance extracurricular activities to strengthen Indonesian cultural identity in Singapore Indonesian Schools. The theory used is the behaviorist theory explained by Gage and Berliner, namely that learning is a change in behavior caused by the interaction between stimulus and response. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research are a description of the implementation of dance extracurricular activities at the Singapore Indonesian School, which includes the implementation of exercises and performances as a form of promoting Indonesian culture. This activity succeeded in strengthening Indonesian cultural identity among students through learning traditional dance and participating in Indonesian dance performances.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the value of character education in the meaning and symbols of the Nyengcelak Puspa Ningati dance in adolescent dancers at the Gandes Pamantes Studio. Abstract

The purpose of this study: (1) to find out how important the body discipline method is in Swargaloka School of Dance through Delsarte's Theory. (2) to find out the process of implementing Delsarte's Theory in order to discipline the body in Swargaloka School of Dance. (3) to find out the results of the process of implementing Delsarte's Theory regarding dancing in Swargaloka School of Dance. This study uses descriptive qualitative research because this study cannot be measured numerically. Learning analysis is easier to understand through descriptions with data collected through learning observations, documentation, and interviews. This thesis discusses the optimization of the body discipline process in dance learning in Swargaloka School of Dance. The results of the study show that Swargaloka School of Dance emphasizes good dance techniques, with clear movement flows when dancing. In addition to learning to dance, students at Swargaloka School of Dance also study various other fields of art, such as theater, music, visual arts, make-up and fashion. Dancing is not only about movement, but also related to character, so that speed, tempo, character, flexibility, and body strength become a unity in dance.
