Improving Students' Listening Skill Through Watching English Movie (Classroom Action Research at the Eleven Grade of SMA Dharma Budi Sidamanik, North Sumatra Province, Academic Year 2021/2022). Thesis of the Department of English Education, FKIP, Simalungun University, 2021. The research problem is Does watching English movie can improve listening skill for the eleventh grade students of SMA Dharma Budi Sidamanik ?. The objective of this study was to know whether watching English movie can improve the listening skills of eleventh grade students at SMA Dharma Budi Sidamanik. The sample of this study was the students of class XI MIA 1, consisted 35 students. The research method used is quantitative research; this research is carried out by means of observation, namely the search for data based on facts. Observation and test sheets are data collected during the research. The results obtained show that there is a gradual development and improvement in students' listening skill. The minimum mastery standard for English lessons is 65. The results of the pre-test showed 2 students or 0.05% who achieved the KKM with an average score of 49.1. The results of the post-test showed 35 students or 100% who reached the KKM with an average score of 79.2. In addition, positive responses from English teachers and students were given to the entire research process. Based on the results of these studies, watching English movie can improve students' listening skills

The objective of this research was to find the effect of role play strategy on students’ speaking ability at eighth grade of SMP Negeri 9 Pematangsiantar.This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 9 Pematangsiantar with method of this research used quantitative methhod with true experimental method. Population of this research was eighth grade students and sample of this research was two class of eighth grade divide into control and experimental class that consist of 64 students. The technique of collecting data was pre-test and post-test. The technique of analyzing data was use SPSS version 21.0. The result of this test. If the tcount value is higher than the ttable at the significance level 0.05 and the degree fredoom (df) N-1, thus the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. The researcher found that tcount 4.50 > ttable 1.66 at significance level 0.05 with the degrees of fredoom (df) (32-1=31) for each class so the degrees of freedom is 62. It means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.Using role play strategy is able to develop the students’ speaking ability at the eighth grade students of Smp Negeri 9 Pematangsiantar. It can be seen in the result of the analysis data which shows that there is a significant progress between the students’ speaking ability before and after the researcher given the trearment. The score in experimental class is more significant increase than in control class because of the researcher give the treatment

This study was designed due to a consideration that English speaking is a difficult subject to be mastered by students and using a right teaching strategy is important to improve theirs peaking ability. The study explored how effective is using pictures strategy in improving student’s speaking ability at the second grade of SMA Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar involving 60 students in second grade (class XI-IA1 and XI-IA2). Using quantitative approach and a true experimental research design, the study collected the data through pre-test and post-test. The data analysis that tcount (47.114) > ttable (2,021) at the significance level α=0,05 with degrees of freedom (df)= 34, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means that the using Picture Strategy siginificantly in Improving Speaking Skill at the second grade of SMA Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar. This finding conform the previous research finding that using picture strategy can help students to improve student’s speaking ability. Nevertheless, there were some problems gained in using picture strategy. Many students could not apply grammar correctly when they speak by using the strategy. The students are difficult to understand English when their friends speak English using picture. They could not speak English fluently and concentrate in speaking English when the teacher used the strategy

The aim of this research was to find out improving speaking ability by using talking stick method of the eight grade students at SMP SWASTA GKPS 3 PEMATANGSIANTAR. This research were done to know and identified about the improvement of student’s speaking ability by using talking stick and students’ response toward using talking stick. This research was conducted on July until August 2021. This research classified as one class. It involved 30 students. The design of this research is used pre-experimental with quantitative approach. In collecting the data the researcher use pre-test and post- test. The result shows that by using talking stick method has improved the students’ motivation, score and response were good. The improvement of students achievement are proved from pre-test and post-test result. The mean score in pre-test is 44% and the mean score in post-test is 84% and the standard deviation is 45.63%. So, from the mean score and the standard deviation result shows that the students’ speaking ability is improved become excellent level after using talking stick method at the eight grade of SMP SWASTA GKPS 3

The objective of the research is find out the effect of Using Clustering technique on students’ Writing Skill at Tenth Grade of MA Al-Kautsar. This research used quantitative approach with experimental method. The samples in this study was the tenth grade students of MA Al-Kautsar. The researcher used simple random sampling by making lottery to take the sample. The tenth grade of MA Al-Kautsar was divided into two groups, namely 30 students as group 1 and 30 students as group 2. Group 1 as control group and group 2 as experiment group. The instrument used in the study was a written test in the pre-test and post-test. The data was analyzed by using SPSS. The findings indicate that the students’ score pre-test in control group are 1593 where the mean is 53,10 and the students’ score post test in control group are 1809 where the mean is 60,30. Before the treatment of clustering technique , the students’ prior knowledge in writing descriptive text was less since the pre- test data are 1605 where the mean is 53,50. After the treatment of using clustering technique, the students’ ability in writing descriptive text had been improved since the post-test are 2211 where the mean is 73,70. Based on testing hypothesis of post-test scores, it is found tcount ( 7,91) > ttable (1,69) at the significance level ɑ= 0,05 and degrees of freedom (df)= 29. Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, it means that there was difference in students learning outcomes by using clustering technique and without using clustering technique. So, From the result, the researcher concluded that using clustering technique effect significantly to improve students’ writing skill at tenth grade of MA Al- Kautsar

This study was aimed at investigating whether“Does comic books effect to improve student’s reading comprehension skill of narrative text at grade VIII SMP N 12 Pematangsiantar?”This research was a quantitative approach. For the data collection, there werePre-test and Post-test. This research is describes about meaning Increasing Students’ Vocabulary By Using Cartoon Techanique At Seventh Grade Students of SMP Dharma Budi Sidamanik.The problem of the research isDoes using cartoon techanique can increase vocabulary for the seventh grade students of SMP Dharma Budi Sidamanik?. The objective of the research is to know whether using cartoon vocabulary technique can increase vocabulary for the seventh grade students of SMP Dharma Budi Sidamanik. The research was quantitative research. For the data collection, there were pre-test and post-test. The population of this research 100 students’ in academic year 2021 with of 25 students was the sample. The data analysis research was at seventh grade students stared from scoring pre-test and post-test and finding the diffrerent mean of the score. Based on the data analysis, the researcher finding the pre-test students mean score only 1188 and that mean was 47.52 and after the treatment, the researcher used to post-test to know students’ increase vocabulary in English score. The result of the test found the avarage of the post-test mean score test is 2010 that mean was 80,4. By Using cartoon technique in teaching vocabulary the students felt comfortable and enjoyed to learn new vocabulary and also can create students motivation and gives a good impact on other English skills

This study was aimed at investigating whether The object of the study is to know the effect of zoom application in English learning, at IPS tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar. This research was a qualitative approach. For the data collection the interview. The population of this study was the students the Tenth Grade in SMA Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar has take 12 students, and each class reseacher took 4 students. Based on the results of the study, the researcher concluded that many effects were found when learning to use the zoom application on both students and teachers.there are : Signal drop out, The teacher's voice is not clear, Network is not stable, Students are increasingly difficult to understand learning,Teachers who complain because students are hard to catch

This research aim to to find out English teacher’s strategies to increase the students motivation in learning English and to find out the students’ responses to the English teacher’s strategies to increase the motivation in learning English. The researcher made preliminary observation on students at class XI MA Al Hasyimiyah. The location of this school is on Danau Singkarak Street, Tebing Tinggi. The researcher used the descriptive qualitative method. The technique of collecting data applies in the research are Observation, Interview to the teacher and completes by distributing a que stionnaire. Based on the research result, English teachers use interesting learning or varied methods to overcome the different characters of children in learning English. in this case, this finding is supported by Sadirman A.M (2009:91) strategies in motivating the students, there are eight strategies but the teacher just use four strategies, such as Explain learning Objectives to student, helping the learning difficulties of student individually or in groups, arousing student’s interesting, and give praise for each student’s success, and The response of class XI MA AL Hasyimiyah students to the teacher are quite satisfying, and open minded

The objective of this research is to find out significant difference between students’ listening comprehension ability using video and audio media. This research was a quantitative research. This research was conducted to the second grade students of SMP N 7 Pematangsiantar. In this research, researcher using pre-experimental class. As the sample of this research, the researcher took class VII-F as the experimental class. The sample was chosen randomly under the assumption that each class had the same level of ability. In collecting the data, the researcher used multiple choice items. The data were analyzed by using Microsoft excel and some formula to calculating the mean score and standard deviation of student test. The researcher found that there is a relative difference of the students’ listening comprehension achievement between the students who were using video and those who using audio. It can be seen from the mean score of the student In video test the mean score is 76,41 meanwhile in audio test the mean score of the student is 77,96. In standard deviation video test got the result 2,35 and audio test got 19,96. Furthermore, based on the result of the data, teaching listening through audio is more effective to increase students’ listening comprehension because audio can give more concentration for the students in the classroom. When the students listen using audio media, they are can focus to the story. This situation creates a more active class and pleasurable study for them to learn and comprehend the listening skill. The audio is also able to motivate them to the lesson in the class
