Abstract

The development of open materials is necessary to improve their The Development of teaching materials is necessary to improve student understanding. However, the existing teaching materials still have shortcomings, meaning they do not fully support the learning process in learning media courses. These weaknesses can be in the form of learning information presented that is not detailed, both in terms of material and visualization, or that some teaching materials are presented in a foreign language and are difficult to understand. Seeing these problems, the aim of this research is to analyze the needs for CASE-based teaching materials (Creative, Active, Systematic and Effective) in improving students' problemsolving and creative abilities in learning media courses. CASE (Creative, Active, Systematic and Effective) is intended to help students creatively, actively, systematically and effectively, resulting in successful achievement of learning objectives. In this situation, creativity refers to the ability to develop unique teaching materials that can motivate students to learn. The definition of creative thinking is the ability to create new correlations between various aspects, analyze them, and use conclusions to solve problems in certain learning. The subjects of this research are students of the Biology Education study program, Department of Biology, Medan State University class of 2020. The sample was randomly selected as many as 30 students. This research is a qualitative descriptive research oriented towards the development of a product. Data collection was carried out using interview sheets, observation sheets and questionnaires.

Abstract

This research is a type of development research. The development method applied follows the define, design, and development Model. The aim of this study is to produce a valid general biology learning equipment based on case method and project based learning. In this research, the completed general biology learning equipment design was validated by content experts and language experts. Based on the validation results from content experts, the tool achieved a validation percentage of 86.65%, categorized as highly valid. The language experts validated the equipment with a percentage of 81.25%, also categorized as highly valid. Therefore, it can be concluded that the developed general biology learning equipment is suitable for testing by instructors of general biology courses.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' critical thinking skills in understanding the material of RNA and DNA structures. The PBL model is applied as an active learning approach that involves students in solving real problems and is relevant to the biology material being studied. This study used an experimental design with a control group and an experimental group where the experimental group was taught using the PBL model, while the control group used conventional learning methods. Data collection was carried out through critical thinking skills tests before and after the intervention, as well as observations during the learning process. The results of the analysis showed that students who were taught using the PBL model experienced a significant increase in critical thinking skills compared to the control group. These findings indicate that the application of the PBL model can improve students' understanding and analytical skills of the structure of RNA and DNA, and can be an effective alternative in the biology learning process in schools. This study provides recommendations for the wider application of the PBL method in the context of science education to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model on student learning outcomes in class VIII pressure material. ThisThis research aims to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model on student learning outcomes in class VIII pressure material. This research uses Quasy Experimental Design with a Pretest-Posttest Control design with probability sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using a multiple choice test with a total of 25 questions. This research involved class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Sawit Seberang. Data processing in this study used the SPSS version 25 application. The normality test results showed that the data came from a normal distribution. The homogeneity test shows that the data is homogeneous. In the PairdSample T-Test, the Sig value was obtained. (2-tailed) = 0.000 which indicates a significance value < 0.05 so that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model has a significant effect on the learning outcomes of Class VIII students on pressure material at SMP Negeri 1 Sawit Seberang.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the improvement of future educators' public speaking skills through training focused on their final results. In the third meeting, there was a significant improvement of 71.32% in the students' public speaking skills after the post-test. This result showed a good improvement from the previous pre-test. Good public speaking skills are very important for future educators, as this will affect their competence in becoming professional teachers. The teacher's ability to explain the material briefly but comprehensively is needed so that students can understand well. This research makes an important contribution in preparing future educators to communicate effectively, avoid difficulties during the learning process, and improve their public speaking skills.
