Abstract

Food additives are substances intentionally added to food to influence its properties and characteristics. These additives include food colorings and flavorings. Natural colorings are derived from plants that have the potential to produce color. The Nutrition and Health course discusses food sources and nutrients (nutritional substances) and their functions for health. The obstacle faced by students in the Nutrition and Health course is related to learning about the use of plants as food additives, specifically the need for additional reference material on natural additives. This research aims to analyze the feasibility test results of a booklet based on the research "Utilization of Plants as Food Additives by the Montasik Community" as a reference for the Nutrition and Health course. The approach used in this research is qualitative. The sampling method used is Purposive Sampling, which is sampling based on specific considerations. This research was conducted in the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training in March 2025. Data collection was carried out through validation questionnaires. Data were analyzed using percentage formulas. The validation by material experts resulted in a percentage of 84.7%, categorized as feasible for use, and the validation by media experts resulted in a percentage of 80%, also categorized as feasible for use. The average score obtained was 82.35%, indicating that the Booklet is Very Feasible for use

Abstract

This systematic literature review explores studies on teacher language awareness (TLA) within the Indonesian English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. TLA is defined as the knowledge and metacognitive awareness that language teachers have of language, language use, and language teaching and learning. The reviewed literature consists of peer-reviewed articles and conference proceedings that were extracted from databases such as Google Scholar, JSTOR, ERIC, and SAGE Journals. The review synthesises empirical research on TLA, and closely related constructs such as language awareness, teacher awareness, multilingual beliefs in Indonesia, identifies gaps, and provides recommendations for teacher education and further research. Key findings reveal the key dimensions of TLA research In Indonesian EFL context, several mediating factors of TLA development, and several gaps in the literature as well as future directions of TLA research in Indonesia. These findings suggest that teacher language awareness notion is increasingly recognised and Indonesian EFL teachers exhibit growing awareness of their language practices. Implications for in-service professional development, pre-service teacher training, and policy are discussed. These recommendations are aimed at fostering more profound language awareness in Indonesian EFL teaching

Abstract

This community service activity aims to create an intelligent and religious young generation through the implementation of the Tutoring and Islamifest Program in Gampong Meunasah Krueng, Ingin Jaya District, Aceh Besar Regency. This program is designed to meet the community's needs to improve children's academic abilities and strengthen religious and moral values among adolescents. This service uses a descriptive qualitative approach with participatory methods, which include observation, interviews, and collection of activity documentation. Data were analyzed reflectively by involving students and the community as active participants in the program. The results showed significant progress in the participants' reading and arithmetic skills after participating in regular tutoring. Furthermore, the Islamifest activities, which included various Islamic competitions, thematic studies, and religious arts, successfully increased the spirituality, self-confidence, and social engagement of children and adolescents in the village environment. The community also actively contributed to the success of the program by providing learning facilities and continuing activities after the service through the formation of the "Rumoh Ilmu Meunasah Krueng" study group. This program has proven effective in integrating academic and spiritual aspects, while strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through community service activities that have a real impact on the community. Thus, the Tutoring Program and Islamifest can be used as an example of community-based service that focuses on character development, improving the quality of education, and strengthening religious values at the village level.

Abstract

This research investigates the efficacy and reception of the Inquiry Learning Strategy (ILS) in an Indonesian English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context, focusing on a specific grammatical structure: the degrees of comparison. It aims to measure the strategy's impact on academic achievement and to comprehensively understand student perceptions regarding its influence on engagement, collaboration, and the overall learning environment. Employing a quantitative pre-experimental design, this study utilized a one-group pretest-posttest model. The participants consisted of 27 eighth-grade students from SMPN 9 Banda Aceh, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection spanned four meetings, integrating a diagnostic pretest, a structured ILS intervention conducted over two sessions, an evaluative posttest, and a detailed Likert-scale questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and a paired-samples t-test, while questionnaire data were analyzed using percentage-based thematic analysis. The findings demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in grammatical mastery. The mean score increased from 50.37 (SD = 14.54) in the pretest to 77.78 (SD = 12.89) in the posttest, with a t-test confirming significance (t(26) = -13.558, p < .001). Furthermore, questionnaire results revealed overwhelmingly positive student perceptions. Over 96% of respondents agreed ILS facilitated understanding and collaboration, while 63% strongly affirmed it increased their activeness and enthusiasm. The strategy was endorsed as enjoyable, motivating, and highly suitable for EFL learning.

Abstract

The coffee shop (warkop) hangout culture has become a prominent social phenomenon among urban youth. This activity not only functions as a form of recreation and social interaction but also often fosters excessive consumerist behavior. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of Islamic counseling in responding to the warkop hangout culture that influences youth consumerism. The research employed a qualitative phenomenological approach, utilizing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation with students and young workers in several popular coffee shops. The findings reveal that while warkop hangouts provide social values, identity, and peer relations, they also contribute to increased spending and a show-off lifestyle. Islamic counseling, grounded in the Qur’an, Hadith, and the principle of tazkiyatun nafs, can serve as a mental-spiritual development strategy to reduce consumerist tendencies. In conclusion, the hangout culture can be transformed into a positive space when integrated with Islamic approaches, thus requiring counselors, religious leaders, and educators to utilize this phenomenon as an avenue for informal da’wah and counseling
