Abstract

Introduction: Covid-19 is an infectious disease that first appeared in the city of Wuhan, China, and was caused by SARS-CoV-2. This literature review aims to identify risk factors for the occurrence of Covid-19 in patients with type 2 DM. Methods: Analytical descriptive literature review design. Data obtained through article search results using five electronic databases namely Pubmed, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar identified 10,951 articles with a total sample of 5,464,617 respondents. The analysis uses a map of the extracted data in a grid synthesis table including author, year of publication, country, purpose, sample, design, duration, results, and conclusions of the study. Results: The six articles identified in this review showed that one study reported risk of developing COVID-19 in patients with type 2 diabetes 1,369 times, one study 2,180 times, one study 4.7 times, and another study up to 16.5 times. Patients who are male and aged 53 years have a risk of 1.395 times higher than those who are younger and female. Conclusion: Patients with type 2 diabetes have a significantly higher risk of contracting Covid-19 compared to people without diabetes, especially in patients aged 53 years and male.

Abstract

Introduction: Post-heating wounds are wounds that occur because of medical action, physiologically the body will experience a wound healing process. D gel is a gel containing cyclic siloxane and vitamin C that can be used for post-heating wound healing, but one of the other wound treatments that can currently be used is human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell extract (WJMSCs). Aim: knowing the difference in post-heating wound healing time between WJMSCs extract and D gel. Method: Using a laboratory experimental study using 21 male white rats (Rattus Copernicus) Sprague Dawley strain which was grouped into three different treatment groups. The treatments were divided into K group: negative control (povidone-iodine), P1: WJMSCs extract, and P2: D gel. Observations on post-heating wounds were carried out for 14 days using the Nagaoka criteria and the data were analyzed using categorical descriptive statistical tests and Kruskal-Wallis. Results: showed that there was a significant difference in post-heating wound healing time between WJMSC extract and D gel with p-value = 0.03, with wound healing time in group K: 12.7 days, group P1: 7 days, and group P2: 11 days. Conclusion: that there is a significant difference in post-heating wound healing between WJMSC extract and D gel

Abstract

Introduction; COVID-19 has an impact on various fields including the environment and waste management. Prevention of COVID-19 by using masks has another impact, namely the emergence of piles of household medical waste. Aim; to determine the management of household medical waste both in Indonesia and abroad. Method; a literature review of articles that discuss waste management in Indonesia and abroad. Result; management of medical waste at the household level in Indonesia has been regulated in Circular Letter Number SE.3/MENLHK/PSLB.3/3.2021 concerning Management of Hazardous Waste and Waste from Handling Coronavirus Disease-19. However, the implementation has not been maximized due to the lack of waste management facilities at the household level. Overseas medical waste management in some countries uses household-level segregation where medical waste is separated and processed using incinerators. Conclusion; the problems that arise are basically the same both in Indonesia and abroad are related to public awareness and unequal facilities. Recommendation; Household waste management facilities are expected to be improved along with the provision of education and knowledge to increase public awareness.

Abstract

Introduction: Infertility is a major problem in married couples and 40% is caused by malefactors. This is caused by an increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) which can affect the quantity and quality of spermatozoa so that there is a change in the number and motility of the spermatozoa produced. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of black pepper extract (Piper nigrum L) on the number and motility of spermatozoa. Method: using literature studies from various sources of national and international journals by summarizing the discussion, and comparing the results presented in these various sources. Result: black pepper has the main content of piperine which acts as an antioxidant. Piperine can also increase gonadotropin hormones, especially luteinizing hormone (LH) which will stimulate the formation of spermatozoa or the process of spermatogenesis so that it affects the number and motility of spermatozoa. Conclusion: Giving black pepper extract has an effect on the number and motility of spermatozoa

Abstract

Introduction: one of the problems of poor nutrition for pregnant women is anemia, where there is a decrease in the quantity and quality of red blood cells, this is exacerbated by the hemodilution process in pregnancy so that hemoglobin levels decrease which has the potential to increase the risk of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Aim; determine the relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women with the incidence of anemia. Methods: analytic research with cross-sectional approach, the number of samples is 78 people with non-random sampling technique. Manual data processing with Chi-Square statistical test. Result: that there is no relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women with a value of X² (count) = 13,503. Conclusion: that there is a relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. Giving iron tablet supplementation to pregnant women is recommended in one day two tablets (one tablet contains 60 mg Fe and 200 ug folic acid)

Abstract

Introduction: Pre-diabetes is a condition where blood glucose levels are above normal, but do not meet the standard to be diagnosed as diabetes. This literature review aims to determine the effectiveness of lifestyle interventions in preventing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetic patients. Methods: Search articles using five databases, namely Pubmed, Proquest, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar identified 21,380 articles. Results: Five studies that met the criteria showed that lifestyle interventions were effective in preventing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetic patients. Four studies reported no participant developing type 2 DM and only one study reported progression of pre-diabetes to type 2 DM, but overall it was greater in the control group than in the treatment (22.8% vs 15.0%). At the age of 18-64 years, lifestyle interventions can reduce the risk of diabetes in two years by 30%, in the following years 40% and 10%, respectively. While at the age of 65-84 years from 40% to 50% in the first two years and from 10% to 20% in the following years. Conclusion: Based on the results of a review of five articles, it was concluded that lifestyle interventions can effectively prevent the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetic patients

Abstract

Introduction: High motivation and self-efficacy in the implementation of treatment in DM patients will result in increased self-care. Therefore, increasing the self-confidence and motivation of patients will improve their self-care management. Objective: To identify the relationship between motivation and self-efficacy in self-care management in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method: Research with a literature study approach. Data were collected using a literature review of several articles published in Google Scholar, Proquest and PubMed published in 2015-2021. Results: Based on 10 journal search results, the majority of journals discussed the relationship between education level, gender, motivation, and self-efficacy in performing good self-care management in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Conclusion: The relationship between motivation and self-efficacy of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in management self-care is closely related. Motivation is a very important factor for self-care management as well as the higher the self-efficacy value of a DM patient, the higher the patient's belief in self-care related to their disease
