Abstract

Translation is considered as a step in transforming the information contained from the source representation to the destination representation. In the process of students doing mathematical translation there are four stages of activity, Unpacking the Source, Preliminary Coordination, Constructing the Target, and Determining Equivalence. This study aims to analyze the activities carried out by students in translating representations from graphic to symbolic, table to symbolic, and verbal to symbolic based on HOTS. This research was conducted at SMA Lamongan Regency with three research students in class XI who had learned about the concept of quadratic functions. The instruments used were translation questions and interview guidelines. The applied data analysis focused on four stages of translation activity which were then grouped according to (high, medium, and low categories). The results showed that the translation of verbal representations into symbolic ones was the most difficult for students to complete. Keywords: mathematical translation, representation, HOTS.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1887-1899

Abstract

This research was conducted to develop students’ worksheets based on guided discovery learning on acid-base materials. This student worksheet will be the basic content for developing a content learning system to improve the learning outcomes of 11th grade high school students in the pandemic era. Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model is the research method used. Based on the research that has been carried out, the validity as measured by the Aiken's V formula is 0.85 which indicates that the developed students’ worksheets are valid. The value of practicality of teachers and students was obtained by 84% and 88% which indicated the very practical category. Then, the N-Gain value obtained is 54.68% which indicates that worksheet is effective in improving student learning outcomes. So it can be concluded that this student worksheet is valid, practical, and effective to be used as a basic content in developing a content learning system based on guided discovery learning on acid and base. Keywords: students’ worksheets, guided discovery, acid-base.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1347-1357

Abstract

The human digestive system is one of the materials taught to junior high school students. This research purpose was to determine the gender-based contextual (CTL) effect on biology students cognitive learning outcomes. This research used quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. Data analysis used descriptive statistical and inferential statistics. The analysis results show that there was significant effect of using the CTL learning model on students' cognitive learning outcomes on the human digestive system material with sig value was 0.000>0.05. Regarding gender, there is no significant effect on cognitive learning outcomes on the human digestive system material with sig value was 0.764>0.05. There is no significant effect of the interaction of learning models and gender on cognitive learning outcomes on the human digestive system material with sig value was 0.960>0.05. Thus, the CTL learning model can improve the cognitive learning outcomes students who have gender characteristics. Keywords: human digestive system, contextual teaching and learning, cognitive learning outcomes, gender.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1548-1560

Abstract

In practice, the blended learning method still applies the Teacher Centered Learning (TCL) model because teachers have a role to control the learning condition remains conducive. This research aims to develop a Teacher Centered Learning model through prophetic integration in blended learning. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 14 Bekasi and SMA Negeri 17 Bekasi with Research and Development method. The results showed that the average value of the usefulness of the TCL model was 82.48% (good) with the results of Shidiq (not imitating answers, not copying others work, daring to provide accurate information, and daring to give arguments) and Amanah (doing tasks well, playing an active role, and doing something that is ordered). Thus, the development of the Teacher Centered Learning model is feasible to apply in blended learning teaching. Keywords: teacher-centered learning model, prophetic values, research and development. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1790-1801

Abstract

This study aims to produce ethnomatematic-based mobile learning that can be implemented so that it can improve student self-regulated learning. The research design used was the pre and posttest group design. The experimental and control groups will be given a pretest before treatment and a posttest after treatment. The population used was elementary school students and the sample used was 439 consisting of 215 students from the experimental class and 224 students from the control class. Data analysis in this study used statistical data processing software IBM SPSS version 27. Based on the summary of the results of the independent t test, the value of Sig. (2-tailed) on the posttest data of <0.001. This value is smaller than the specified significance level of 0.05. This means that the averages of the experimental and control groups at the time of the posttest were significantly different. The results of the analysis of self-regulated learning show that the analysis carried out on self regulated learning only obtained complete data on 134 students from the experimental class and 134 from the control class. The research results in the experimental class show that the learning planning variable is in the high category. The conclusion from this research is that the results of learning with mobile learning with ethnomathematics content on self-regulated learning can improve student learning outcomes so that they can be implemented in schools. Keywords: mobile learning, ethnomathematics, self-regulated learning, learning outcomes.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1692-1700

Abstract

21st century skills should ideally be able to provide a foundation to today's learning. The purpose of this study intends to investigate the use of whiteboard fox in mathematics learning that accommodates 21st century skills. Qualitative research methods with case study types are used to uncover 21st century skills in mathematics learning using whiteboard fox. The research site is located in one of the North Jakarta State High Schools. Purposive sampling techniques were used to answer research questions in which out of 31 students 10 students were selected who were assumed to be able to provide saturated information as well as a primary data source. Data collection techniques use structured interviews with reference to 21st century skill indicators in the context of the use of whiteboard fox in mathematics learning. Data were analyzed using the 2022 version of MAXQDA through coding, sub-coding, in-vivo and MAXMaps visualization processes. The results showed various aspects that emerged in mathematics learning using whiteboard fox related to 21st century skills. Keywords: whiteboard fox, 21st century skills, math learning. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1644-1664

Abstract

The very rapid development of technology in the era of Society 5.0, requires lecturers to package learning that is interesting for students, one of which is with media and learning approaches from abstract material to concrete material. The purpose of this research is to produce e-comic products with a realistic approach. mathematics education in geometry transformation courses that can be used in online tutorials for 4th semester mathematics education study program students at Universitas Terbuka. This research method uses the Dick & Carey development design by including eight steps. Based on the results of student questionnaire responses using e-comic media with a realistic mathematics education approach, namely based on the results of student assessment responses, an average value of 86% was obtained, which means that e-comic media is classified as good as a learning medium. Meanwhile, based on the test of the effectiveness of the use of media on students, it is obtained tcount 3.285 > ttable 2.002 from the two results from the t-test through comparison it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that it means that there is a difference in the average learning outcomes between tutor class scores and the class media score. This means that the e-comic media learning outcomes with the RME approach to this transformation geometry material is effectively used for students of mathematics education program at the Universitas Terbuka. Keywords: research & development, e-comics, realistic mathematics education. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1769-1776
