Abstract

This research aims to develop comic-based learning media that is appropriate, practical and effective to use. This development research used the ADDIE development model, consisting of five stages, namely, Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data analysis technique used is a combination of qualitative and quantitative. Based on the results of the validation of material experts, the assessment achieved an average of very decent with a percentage of 92.8% in the subject matter expert section 1 while the material expert 2 received a score of 100%. Based on the results of media expert validation, the average rating achieved was very feasible with a percentage of 96.4%. Based on the results of the questionnaire sheet, it gets a practicality value of 90.00% in the very practical category. Moreover, the N-Gain result is 0.60 in the medium category. It can be concluded that comic media is effectively used in the learning process with moderate effectiveness and is considered very practical. Keywords: learning materials, comics, biology learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp114-123

Abstract

This study aims to describe the problems of the PISA model in mathematics textbooks which are in terms of the aspects contained in the components of the PISA model. The research subjects were competency test questions in the 2017 revised edition of the 2017 curriculum 2013 math textbooks, totaling 180. This study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research instrument was an analysis guide sheet based on the aspects of content, context, and cognitive level of the PISA model questions. Data analysis uses the stages of unit purchasing analysis, categorizing, and coding. The results showed that there were 17.22% of the PISA model questions. The questions are distributed based on each content consisting of number, space & shape, change & relationship, and impossibility & data. In the context aspect, the questions only fulfill three contexts, personal work, and social judging from the level of cognitive questions that are applied at the level of remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, and assessing levels. Keywords: mathematics textbook, PISA model, junior high school.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp213-224

Abstract

This development research aims to develop and validate interactive e-modules based on socio scientific issues on Global Warming material to improve students' critical thinking skills. This study uses the Research and Development method with 4D design (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The results of construct validation get a score of 85.3 and the feasibility of the material gets a score of 88.2 with the final conclusion "feasible to use with improvement". As well as the Practicality Test from student responses, an average score of 93.25 is in the very high category and the responses from the teachers get a score of 89.8 in the very high category. Based on the pre-test and post-test when the trials were carried out on students, the N-gain value was obtained in the experimental class of 83.91 which means effective and the control class 54.31 which means less effective. Overall, the research findings show that the developed e-module is validated in a very valid category and can improve students' critical thinking skills. Keywords: interactive e-modules, socio scientific issues, critical thinking skills.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp324-334

Abstract

Students' ability to solve mathematical problems is still low, students often experience obstacles in understanding problems so that they are less precise in choosing and using solving strategies from non-routine problems. There are many factors that influence this, so the purpose of this study is to assess several factors such as the influence of mathematical literacy on mathematical problem solving abilities, the effect of learning motivation on mathematical problem solving skills, the influence of independence on mathematical problem solving skills and the influence of mathematical literacy, motivation, and independence of the ability to solve mathematical problems. The method used is a quantitative method by making SMAN 1 Indralaya the object of research. The results of this study include mathematical literacy, learning motivation, learning independence and have a positive and significant effect on mathematical problem-solving abilities and the ability of the independent variables in this study to affect the dependent variable by 20.2%, while the remaining 79.8% is explained by variables other than variables independent in research. Keywords: mathematical literacy, motivation, independence, problem solving.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp275-290

Abstract

This research investigates the difference between learning acid base solution material using the PBL model and conventional learning regarding the conceptual understanding and problem-solving ability of grade XI students at Setia Bakti Ruteng senior high school. Three science classes from Grade XI at Setia Bakti Ruteng Senior High School comprised the 76 students who made up the study's population. The research sample, comprised of 56 students, was divided into two classes for the experiments: classes 1 and 2. Experiment class 1 was handled utilizing the PBL approach, and experiment class 2 was conducted using 5 M learning. The cluster random sampling method was used to select the sample. An essay examination was used to assess students' idea understanding, and their problem-solving ability was determined by examining their responses to the problem-solving essay test. The study's findings indicate that when conceptual comprehension and problem-solving skills are tested simultaneously in grade XI students at Setia Bakti Ruteng Senior High School, the PBL approach and conventional learning produce significantly different learning outcomes. Keywords: problem-based learning, concept understanding, problem-solving.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp161-171

Abstract

This research is a correlational descriptive study that aims to describe formal reasoning and understanding of physics concepts and the relationship between the two. The population in this study were all students of class XI MIPA SMAN 3 Wajo, while the number of samples based on the Proportional Random Sampling technique was 135 students. The instrument research is in the form of formal reasoning test instruments and understanding of physics concepts. Instrument validation used the Gregori test and continued with empirical validation Data analysis techniques performed consisted of descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. Based on the descriptive statistical analysis, it was found that the students' formal reasoning and conceptual understanding were in the medium category. Meanwhile, based on inferential statistical analysis, the results of the product-moment correlation test obtained an r count of 0,584. The value of the r count which is positive indicates the relationship between variables is positive. The results of the significance test obtained 0,01<0,05 so it can be said that the relationship between formal reasoning and understanding of physics concepts is significant. So it can be concluded that the relationship between formal reasoning and conceptual understanding is positive and significant. Keywords: physics learning, formal reasoning, conceptual understanding.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp72-83

Abstract

This study aims to provide information about the effect of implementing the principles of guidance and counseling services in mathematics learning as a solution to low mathematics learning outcomes. The instruments used include a written test in the form of multiple choices. The results of the study were strengthened by the results of student interviews and learning observation assessment sheets by mathematics teachers as observers. The results showed that the simple linear regression equation test, namely Y = 2.019 + 0.901 X, showed a positive direction. Therefore, the treatment has a significant effect on student learning outcomes as indicated by the percentage increase in learning outcomes of 58.48% from the difference between the average pretest and posttest scores. Keywords: principles of guidance and counseling services, mathematics learning, mathematics teachers.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp135-151
