Abstract

Household waste is one of the growing environmental issues, especially in rural areas. One potential solution is processing household waste into organic fertilizer, which is beneficial for agriculture and plants. The aim of this training was to provide knowledge and skills to the women of the PKK group in Sidemen Village, West Lombok, on how to manage household waste into organic fertilizer (stool). The training activities involved both theoretical and practical methods, where participants were introduced to the types of waste that can be processed, as well as efficient and eco-friendly techniques for producing organic fertilizer. The results of the training showed that the women of the PKK in Sidemen Village were able to implement household waste processing techniques into organic fertilizer that can support food security in their environment. It is hoped that this training not only reduces the amount of waste disposed of but also increases awareness of the importance of sustainable waste management.

Abstract

Alcoholic beverages are one of the problems that often affect adolescent behavior and health, especially in rural areas such as Janapria Village. This study aims to identify the main causes of alcohol consumption among adolescents and to design effective mentoring efforts to reduce its impact. The research method used is a qualitative approach involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and focus group discussions (FGDs) with adolescents, parents, and local community leaders. The results of the study indicate that the main factors driving alcohol consumption among adolescents include social environmental influences, a lack of awareness about the negative impacts, and a shortage of positive activities for youth. The mentoring program implemented includes education about the dangers of alcohol, the development of life skills, and strengthening the role of families and communities in supporting a healthy lifestyle. Evaluation results show a decrease in alcohol consumption among adolescents after the program was implemented. This study concludes that community-based mentoring is an effective approach to addressing the issue of alcohol consumption among rural adolescents.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the synergy between mentoring in the economic, health, and legal sectors to improve the well-being of the community in Lekor Village, Janapria Subdistrict, Central Lombok Regency. The mentoring activities were carried out using a participatory approach, actively involving local residents in every stage of the process. In the economic sector, the mentoring program focused on entrepreneurship training, small business management, and access to markets for local products. In terms of health, activities were directed at raising community awareness about the importance of clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS) and improving access to basic healthcare services. Meanwhile, in the legal sector, the main focus was on educating the community about their rights, providing legal counseling, and enhancing legal awareness. The findings indicate that an integrated and sustainable approach across these three sectors can drive significant improvements in living standards, increase income, promote environmental health, and strengthen legal understanding among residents. Collaboration between village authorities, facilitators, and the community was identified as a key factor contributing to the success of the program. This study highlights the importance of strengthening local capacity and ensuring the continuity of cross-sectoral mentoring to promote inclusive and competitive village development.

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem plays a vital role in maintaining coastal environmental balance, serving as a natural barrier against abrasion and as a breeding ground for various marine species. However, in many areas—including Jerowaru Village in East Lombok—mangrove degradation occurs due to environmentally harmful human activities and a lack of public awareness regarding the importance of this ecosystem. This study aims to analyze the environmental communication strategies implemented and the extent of community involvement in mangrove conservation efforts in the region. The research employed a qualitative approach, using data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, field observations, and document studies. The findings indicate that participatory communication involving community leaders, youth groups, and local institutions is more effective in raising awareness and fostering collective action than top-down approaches. The use of traditional media and community discussion forums also plays a significant role in disseminating information and building long-term commitment to conservation. Active community participation not only accelerates the mangrove rehabilitation process but also strengthens a sense of ownership and collective responsibility toward the environment. Thus, participation-based communication strategies are key to ensuring the sustainability of mangrove conservation programs in Jerowaru Village. These findings offer recommendations for policymakers and environmental practitioners to prioritize collaborative approaches in similar coastal programs elsewhere.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development potential of the pottery business in fostering a self-reliant community in Sukarara Village, East Lombok. Sukarara Village is renowned for its traditional pottery craftsmanship, which serves as a symbol of local cultural identity. Despite its great potential, the local community still faces several challenges, including product marketing, business management, and human resource capacity development. Through an empowerment approach, this research proposes a development strategy for the pottery business, which includes production skill training, product innovation to expand market reach, and improved access to local and national markets. Furthermore, this study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and the community in creating a supportive ecosystem for pottery business development. Thus, the pottery business is expected not only to enhance the economic well-being of the community but also to build their independence in managing and developing their businesses sustainably. This study is expected to contribute to a model of community empowerment based on local potential, which can be implemented in other regions with similar characteristics.
