Abstract

The issue of slum settlements in Singkawang City has garnered government attention, with Sedau identified as the third priority area for intervention. However, many revitalization efforts fail due to mismatched methods that do not consider environmental, social, and economic characteristics. This study aims to identify priority variables for addressing slum settlements based on the concept of developing a tourism village to improve residents' quality of life and support local economic development. The research method employed is expert judgment through the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), which helps evaluate relevant variables. The findings reveal four main priority variables: good accessibility, a unique tourism village concept, provision of clean water, and waste management. These findings provide important insights for decision-making in planning interventions. Recommendations are directed at the government, development sectors, and the Sedau community, emphasizing the need for better planning, particularly regarding accessibility and infrastructure such as roads, water supply, and waste management. The study also notes its limitations to provide context for the generalization of results and to guide future research. Keywords: planning, slum settlement, tourism village, tourism

Abstract

The study investigates the effects of product quality and price on the purchasing decisions of Bonpatis Danish pastry sheets, with brand image acting as a mediator. Indonesia's food and beverage industry, mainly retail, is experiencing significant growth as modern retailers like Hypermart introduce competitive products. A quantitative approach was used, applying Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) to data collected from 83 respondents, mainly Hypermart bakery employees in DKI Jakarta. Results indicate that product quality and price positively influence brand image and purchasing decisions. Specifically, product quality boosts brand image and directly affects purchase decisions, whereas price influences purchase decisions directly but not via brand image. The study emphasizes the role of product appearance and packaging in shaping brand perceptions and suggests improving these elements to attract more consumers. Due to a limited sample size, the study recommends future research to explore broader aspects like customer satisfaction and loyalty. Keywords: Danish pastry sheet, product quality, price, brand image, purchase decision.

Abstract

This study explores strategies for capacity building and community empowerment in Cimande Village, focusing on the roles of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The primary objective is to assess how local wisdom can be leveraged to enhance the economic and social wellbeing of the community through tourism. Using qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviews and direct observation, the study applies a SWOT analysis to identify internal and external factors affecting the success of tourism development in Cimande Village. Key findings highlight significant barriers such as limited entrepreneurial knowledge, inadequate product innovation, and insufficient use of digital marketing. Conversely, strengths include rich local culture, strong community participation, and government support. The discussion focuses on strategies to improve capacity building, particularly through education, infrastructure development, and stronger collaboration with the private sector. The study concludes that sustainable tourism development in Cimande depends heavily on continuous training and capacity enhancement, particularly in product innovation and digital marketing. Recommendations include establishing more formalized training programs for Pokdarwis and MSME operators, improving access to capital, and increasing efforts to secure business legality and certifications. Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the role of technology in rural tourism development, focusing on the match between technology and the capabilities of local communities. The method used is a quantitative approach, namely data collection through questionnaires distributed to three groups of respondents: local communities, technology providers and tourists. Two main research questions were identified: (1) Is the technology applied by the community service capacity in the tourist village? (2) How can technology be adapted to the needs of local communities and the experiences tourists desire? The research results show that appropriate technology can improve tourist experiences and empower local communities. However, reliance on technological trends without a strong foundation can decrease tourist interest. Therefore, this research concludes that the application of technology must be based on a deep understanding of the local context to avoid inappropriate investments and maintain tourism sustainability. These findings provide important insights for stakeholders in designing appropriate technology strategies for tourist villages. Abstract

This research explores how Instagram is used to find homestay information in tourist village areas. Using a descriptive method and quantitative approach, data were collected through field surveys, Google Forms, and in-person interviews with participants from Jakarta.. The findings show that women prefer Instagram over men due to its image-centric nature, and young people aged 16-25 find it useful for homestay searches. Nonetheless, 27% of respondents express disagreement, stating that they primarily use Instagram for archiving photos and videos and favor online travel agent apps for booking accommodations. Nevertheless, 73% of participants concur that Instagram's features streamline the process of finding homestays. This study contributes to the tourism sector by highlighting Instagram’s potential to enhance homestay visibility, which could help improve the household economy in tourist villages. Keywords: Instagram, homestay, tourist village
