Abstract

Transportation infrastructure is a fundamental catalyst for improving regional economic productivity and enhancing societal welfare. This study analyzes the impact of road infrastructure development on community economic conditions in Air Hitam Village, Kualuh Leidong District, North Labuhanbatu Regency, Indonesia. A quantitative approach was employed using a structured survey of 60 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS Version 22 with linear regression techniques. The findings reveal that road infrastructure has a significant and positive influence on the local economy, as evidenced by the t-value (40.353) exceeding the critical t-table value (1.671). Improved accessibility strengthens market participation, increases income opportunities, and supports rural economic diversification. The study emphasizes that transportation development must be complemented by inclusive policies to ensure equitable distribution of economic benefits.

Abstract

This study explores the role of teachers in implementing Islamic character education methods for students at MTs Amin Darussalam, Desa Bandar Setia, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, Indonesia. Using a qualitative field research approach, data were collected through structured interviews with key informants, including teachers and the head of the madrasah. The findings reveal that teachers adopt three core strategies in shaping students’ character: exemplary conduct, moral advice, and behavioral habituation. These methods contribute significantly to the development of students' moral values, discipline, and social ethics in accordance with Islamic teachings. The study concludes that character formation in madrasah education requires active teacher involvement supported by institutional policies and a positive school culture. The implications emphasize the importance of strengthening teachers' competencies in Islamic character pedagogy and enhancing collaboration between school and family to ensure continuous moral development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) value internalization in the development of students’ religious character at MTs S Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan. A descriptive qualitative method was employed with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that value internalization is implemented through three key strategies: daily religious habituation, the integration of Islamic-based school culture, and constructive collaboration between teachers and parents in character guidance. These practices have produced a significant impact on improving worship discipline, Qur’an literacy skills, and students’ social behavior aligned with Islamic moral values. The study concludes that the success of religious character education is determined by the integration of planned value learning, strong moral modeling, and a consistently supportive educational environment.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how the Javanese transmigrant community in Tangsi Village, Lingga Bayu District, Mandailing Natal Regency, practices the use of the Javanese calendar in determining wedding dates. Employing a case study approach, the research integrates sociological analysis with the fiqh concept of ’urf. The findings show that some members of the community continue to rely on the Javanese calendar as a symbolic form of effort to prevent undesirable events that might disrupt the stages of the wedding ceremony, while others have begun to abandon this tradition due to the strong influence of Mandailing culture and a growing shift toward more rational modes of thinking. From the perspective of legal pluralism, the persistence of this practice reflects the coexistence of Javanese customary norms, Mandailing traditions, and Islamic law, all of which interact within the same social sphere. Meanwhile, the theory of ’urf explains that this practice is acceptable in Islamic law as long as it is understood as a social custom that does not contradict the principles of faith and is not believed to determine fate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of religious involvement on student academic achievement at MTsN Simpang Tiga, Bener Meriah Regency. Using a quantitative approach and involving 30 respondents, this study measured the extent to which students' participation in religious activities outside of class contributed to their academic achievement. Data were analyzed using SPSS software through linear regression tests, coefficient of determination tests, and model significance tests. The results indicate a strong relationship between religious involvement and student achievement. This finding strengthens the argument that religious activities have pedagogical, psychological, and social functions that play a role in building discipline, intrinsic motivation, and a more stable learning orientation.

Abstract

This study examines the moral framework of self-control in QS. Yusuf 23–25 based on the exegetical insights of Tafsir Al-Misbah, with a particular emphasis on its relevance to the contemporary moral crises experienced by youth. Employing a tahlili method, the analysis focuses on the textual meaning of each verse and its contextual interpretation as articulated by tafsir Al-Misbah. The findings indicate that the passage highlights four core ethical imperatives: patience as deliberate restraint of desire, responsibility as moral awareness of consequences, steadfastness as loyalty to divine moral order, and avoidance of illicit relationships as a preventive ethical discipline. These principles collectively suggest a Qur’anic model of self-control that is both spiritually grounded and socially relevant. The study concludes that the Yusuf narrative offers a robust moral ontology capable of informing youth character development and addressing contemporary ethical disruptions within a modern sociocultural landscape.

Abstract

Amid widespread public belief that digital devices symbolize educational progress, this study finds that these tools have instead become one of the most dominant factors contributing to the decline in reading interest among junior high school students. This research aims to analyze the influence of gadget-use intensity on the reading interest of eighth-grade students at UPTD SMP Negeri 10 Pematangsiantar using a quantitative approach. A total of 126 respondents participated through standardized questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.912 for the gadget-use intensity variable and 0.908 for reading interest). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression to examine the relationship and the magnitude of influence between variables. The results indicate a very strong negative relationship between gadget-use intensity and students’ reading interest (r = –0.942; p < 0.01), with an influence contribution of 88.7 percent. These findings affirm that uncontrolled gadget use significantly diminishes reading interest, particularly when digital entertainment content overshadows literacy activities. Nevertheless, gadgets cannot be entirely blamed; the negative effects arise from patterns of digital consumption that are not pedagogically guided. This study recommends enhanced parental supervision, school regulations, and the pedagogical integration of gadgets as learning tools so that technology functions as a literacy enhancer rather than a barrier.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the philosophical meaning of kembar mayang within the Javanese migrant community in Tanah Jawa, Simalungun Regency, and to examine its relevance for nurturing a sakinah family. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research collects data through observation, documentation, and interviews with traditional wedding specialists (dukun manten) and members of the local Javanese community. These findings are further supported by a literature review consisting of books, theses, dissertations, and scholarly articles addressing the symbolism of kembar mayang. Data analysis follows the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, interpreted through Paul Ricoeur’s philosophy of symbols to unveil the deeper layers of meaning embodied in the ritual practices and material components of kembar mayang. The results reveal that kembar mayang is preserved in its original form within the wedding practices of Javanese communities in the diaspora and continues to function as an ethical–spiritual foundation for cultivating a sakinah family. The interpretation of its materials, structure, and ceremonial use demonstrates that this tradition encapsulates philosophical teachings on relational harmony, steadfast intention, and the unification of two lives within an ordered and balanced framework.

Abstract

Value transformation in education is often hindered by the dominance of instrumental-cognitive learning that lacks reflective experience. This condition creates a gap between conceptual understanding and the internalization of national values embodied in the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (Pancasila Student Profile). This study aims to analyze the practice of cognitive collaboration between university students and junior high school students in implementing the Pancasila Student Profile at SMPN 3 Pematangsiantar. A qualitative approach was employed with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing using a narrative approach. The findings reveal that cognitive collaboration not only strengthens reasoning and problem-solving skills but also fosters moral awareness, learning autonomy, and a spirit of cooperation among students. University students acted as facilitators who cultivated reflective and participatory learning spaces where Pancasila values were internalized through lived experiences. This study concludes that the Pancasila Student Profile is not merely a normative framework but a transformative and humanistic educational praxis that shapes independent, reflective, and morally grounded learners.

Abstract

Educational institutions are now required to prepare a generation equipped with strong sustainability awareness. This study aims to examine how scientific–mathematical literacy, environmental literacy, and citizenship literacy can be conceptually integrated to build a holistic form of sustainability awareness among students. Employing a library research method, this study reviews a wide range of scholarly sources, including journal articles, academic books, policy reports, reputable websites, news media, and current magazines. The analysis focuses on several stages: conceptual categorization, thematic synthesis, theoretical comparison, and a critical appraisal of relevant empirical findings. The study reveals that scientific–mathematical literacy plays an essential role in enabling students to interpret environmental issues as scientific and data-driven problems; environmental literacy cultivates ecological empathy and systemic ecological thinking; and citizenship literacy expands students’ environmental understanding into public action and civic responsibility. Together, these literacies complement one another and serve as a foundational triad for developing sustainability awareness across cognitive, affective, and practical dimensions. The study concludes that sustainable education strengthening curriculum and pedagogy is therefore crucial to ensure that schools become formative spaces for nurturing a responsible and sustainability-minded generation for the future of development.
