Abstract

The aim of this research were: (1) to know the percentage level of pregnancy resulting fromestrus synchronization and optimization of Artificial Insemination in the Upsus Siwab program inKeerom Regency, (2) to know the optimization level of Artificial Insemination in the 2018 UpsusSiwab program in Keerom Regency. The research method used survey methods, interviews anddocumentation. The research variable consisted of 2 variables related to estrus synchronizationactivities and optimization of artificial insemination in the 2018 Upsus Siwab program in KeeromRegency which included: (1) The percentage level of pregnancy resulting from estrussynchronization (2) The optimization level of Artificial Insemination. The results were: (1)Increasing the number of estrus synchronization acceptors; (2) The percentage of pregnancywas 61.5%; (3) The results of optimization of artificial insemination included: (a) Inseminationservice rate per pregnancy 1.62; (b) Birth rate 63 – 64%; (c) Treatment of reproductive disorders115 acceptors.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential for rabbit breeding in Sereh Village, Sentani District, JayapuraRegency. The method used is a survey method with field observation techniques to obtain data throughdirect interviews with farmers with the help of a questionnaire. Samples were taken by census of 3populations of rabbit breeders in Kampung Sereh. The observed variables are natural resource potential,human resource potential, market potential, and government policy support. The results showed thatnatural resources, human resources, and marketing have the potential to develop a rabbit farmingbusiness in Sereh Village, but from the aspect of government policy support it has not provided anopportunity to develop a rabbit farming business in Sereh Village, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the development of Gaduhan Cattle (Sapi Gaduhan) by theGovernment to farmers in the West Arso District that has been executed according to the applicableprovisions in a cooperation agreement and provides benefits for both parties.The research method usedsurvey methods, interviews, documentation. Research variables consist of 3 variables, that are: 1.Procedure for determining candidate farmers/candidate locations (CP/CL); 2. Work Agreement with theGovernment; 3. Development of Gaduhan Cattle. The development of Gaduhan cattle in West ArsoDistrict from the initial number of 104 heads which details the final stock of 381 heads. This developmentis influenced by the management and supervision by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries,assistance and guidance to farmers/groups

Abstract

This study aims to determine the mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation in birth weightand number of piglets per birth of local pigs in Sabron Sari Village, West Sentani District, JayapuraRegency. This study used a survey method, namely direct observation to the field to obtaininformation either through a list of questions from five breeders who had sows ready to give birth anddirect weighing of newborn piglets owned by sample farmers that were taken intentionally. From theresults of interviews and direct weighing, it was found that the average birth weight of piglets was 0.74± 0.08 kg, respectively, with a coefficient of variation or diversity of 10.94%; the average number of pigletsper birth was 8.03 ± 1.64 with a coefficient of variation or diversity of 20.39%.

Abstract

A complete ration contains full necessary nutritional substances for the livestock at a certainphysiological level. The ration is made as a sole source of nutrients, excluding water for basic livingneeds and production. This study aims to analyze the fiber composition of white teak leaf-basedcomplete ration at different storage periods. This study employed a Completely Randomized Design(CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replicates encompassing T1 (0-week storage period), T2 (4-weekstorage period), and T3 (8-week storage period). Research result indicated that different periods ofstorage period had a significant effect (P<0.05) on complete ration NDF, ADF, hemicellulose,cellulose and lignin. However, no significant effect was identified from cellulose content. Inconclusion, an 8-week storage period did not significantly affect the fiber composition of the whiteteakleaf-basedcompleteration.

Abstract

Sago pith waste have the potential to be used as alternative animal feed by first carrying out a fermentation process because sago pith contain high crude fiber around of 30.14% and crudeprotein 4.37%. After being fermented with the right microorganism as a decomposer of crudefiber, it turns out that the nutritional yield of sago pith increased dramatically, namely Crudeprotein of sago pith after fermentation with Neurospora crassa 15.52 – 17.78%, fermented withaspergillus niger result With such changes in nutrition, fermented sago pith can be used aspoultry feed for both broiler, laying and chickens.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the organoleptic quality of local pork nuggets with the addition of red fruit paste (Pandanus conoideus Lamk.) with different levels. This research method is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and repeated 3 times. The treatment in this study was the addition of red fruit paste with levels of 0% (Po), 5% (P1), 10% (P2), and 15% (P3). The observed variables include: color, scent, elasticity, taste, and preference. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance using SPSS 16 software. The results showed that the addition of red fruit paste with different levels had no significant effect on aroma, taste, and preference, but had a significant effect on the color of the nuggets. There is a tendency with increasing levels of red fruit paste, it will decrease liking (like – somewhat like) and the aroma of local pork nuggets (slightly flavorful – moderate) while the taste tends to increase (slightly savory – savory) along with increasing levels of red fruit paste. The highest level of preference with the like category (4.6) was found in the P1 and P2 treatments. while the P3 treatment was only in the moderately like category. The best color of nuggets in the red category (4.9) was found in treatment P3, while the best elasticity of the nugget in the chewy category (4.7) was found in the P2 and P3 treatments.
