Abstract

Abstract

Sweet potato (Ipomea batatas.L) is a plant belonging to the Convolvulacea family, thought to have originated from the Americas. Currently, Indonesia is the third sweet potato producing country in the world after China and Uganda with a production of 2,297 million tons. In addition to the vitamins and minerals, the nutritional content contained in sweet potatoes is protein, fat, crude fiber, calories, and ash. The specialty of sweet potato lies in its high β-carotene content. The potential for sweet potato to be developed in eastern Indonesia is very large, especially in Papua. Currently the Merauke Regency Government is trying to continue to develop sweet potatoes as one of the superior products in Merauke because Merauke Regency has generally a large land area, with great potential for the development of these sweet potatoes. The area for sweet potato development is in almost all districts in Merauke, but the biggest development so far has been in the Tanah Miring District with a production output of 5,065.10 tons. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth and development and production of sweet potatoes using a stake technique. The results of this study are expected to be information material for farmers and society in general. Data collection was carried out by observation with direct observation in the research area, including vegetative and generative growth variables. Overall, the vegetative and generative growth data show that the use of the Triangle stake gives the best results.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the types of seagrass and seagrass cover. The research results obtained were that several types of seagrass were found based on the identification results, namely Cymodocea rotundata, Halophilia ovalis, Halodule pinifolia, Enhalus acroides and Syringodium isoeatifolium. Based on the results of calculating the highest percentage of seagrass cover. is from the Cymodoceae rotundata type, namely 26.31% on transect V, while the lowest is from the Syringodium isoetifolium type on transect 7, namely 1.78%. It can be said that Base G beach has a low percentage of seagrass cover. where each transect has a very low estimated value. It is estimated that this is because Base G beach is a tourist area where every day many visitors carry out activities on the beach and community activities around the area, thus disturbing the surrounding ecosystem. Based on the results of calculations of seagrass cover at Base G Beach, the condition of seagrass for all types in the area is poor because the estimated value is below 29.9%. Meanwhile, based on the scale of seagrass conditions at Base G beach, it shows that the presence of seagrass in the area is on a scale of 3, 2 and 1. For the Cymodeceae rotundata type it is in the range of 25 - 50%, categorized as rather good condition on a scale of 3, while the other 3 types are Halodule ovalis, Halodule pinifolia and Enhalus acroides fall into the range of 5 – 25%. On a scale of 2 with few conditions, while the Syringodium isoetifolium type is in the < 5% range in very few conditions.

Abstract

Ectoparasites can cause large numbers of deaths in fish. The effects of ectoparasites on fish (as hosts) in the form of mechanical damage, nutrient uptake and toxic effects can reduce fish stock density and reduce fish quality due to defects. Eels are a freshwater fishery commodity with quite high economic value. The aim of this research is to determine the types of ectoparasites that attack Swamp Eels (Synbranchus bengalensis) and to determine the condition of water quality during research in tarpaulin ponds at the Yosua People's Nursery Unit (UPR) in Hawaii, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency; The research lasted for 3 months, namely March to May 2023. Sampling was carried out at the "Josua" Community Seedling Unit (UPR) in Hawaii, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency. Next, the samples were taken to the Fish Disease Testing Laboratory at the Jayapura Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products Center to identify ectoparasites that attack Swamp Eels (Synbrancus bengalensis). The method used in this research is the survey method. The results of the research show that there are 2 types of ectoparasites that attack Swamp Eel (Synbrancus bengalensis), namely: Trichodina sp and Lernaea sp. The body parts attacked by parasites are: gills and mucus. Water quality parameters include: pH ranging between 6 - 7 and temperature ranging between 26 - 29 ºC. The water quality at the research location is still within the normal range for the life of Rice Eel Fish (Synbrancus . bengalensis).

Abstract

Sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas), better known by the Papuan people as petatas, are a commodity that is widely consumed by the people as a source of carbohydrates to replace rice besides sago, especially in mountainous areas. There are many types of sweet potatoes in the Papua region, some of which are white, yellow, purple and some even have batik-like colors. Sweet potatoes are often used in stone burning activities, traditional ceremonies as well as for people's daily consumption. Insect pests are animals that damage crops and can cause losses for farmers because they can reduce crop production levels and the level of income, farmers will always pay attention and manage it well so that it is always at the economic threshold so that they can increase the production of agricultural products because when these pests are not managed well then the yield will decrease. Information and knowledge about the types of insect pests that attack plants sweet potatoes in a place or field of sweet potatoes play an important role in determining the control measures that will be carried out so that the control can be effective in controlling insect pests and increasing the production of cultivated plants. This research aims to inventory the types of insect pests that attack sweet potato plants (Ipomoea batatas L) in the Waibu district, Jayapura Regency. This research was carried out in farmers' sweet potato plantations in Doyo Baru Village, Waibu District, Jayapura Regency in September - October 2022, observation or data collection was carried out using the observation or direct observation method. Pest insects are obtained by catching them directly or using insect nets. Insect pests that attack sweet potato plants in the Waibu District, Jayapura Regency are turtle beetles (Aspidomorpha miliaris), leaf rollers (Brachmia convolvuli), armyworms (Spodoptera litura), whitefly (Bemisia tabaci), green grasshopper (Atractomorpha crenulata) and sweet potato beetle (Cylas formicarius).
