Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of digital media in the development of cyber counseling services, especially through the use of WhatsApp video calls, in increasing student self-disclosure during group counseling. The method used is a literature study, which is a systematic process of collecting, reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing various written sources such as books, scientific journals, articles, and credible online publications. Through this approach, researchers build a strong theoretical foundation and understand the latest trends and findings related to the topic being studied. The results of the study show that digital media provides easy access, time flexibility, and allows the integration of advanced technology into counseling practices. However, challenges such as ethical issues, data security, and limitations of non-verbal interaction are still obstacles that need to be overcome. On the other hand, great opportunities are open through increasing digital literacy, innovation in therapy methods, and widespread mental health awareness campaigns. With the right approach, digital media-based cyber counseling services can be an effective and inclusive solution to meet the mental health needs of the community in the digital era. Abstract

This study aims to uncover how cosplayers in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, construct their self-identity and communication style through cosplay practices. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten active cosplayers for at least one year, participant observation at various cosplay events, and literature studies on self-concept, identity formation, and symbolic interaction theories (Harris, 2022; Taylor & Dawson, 2021; Smith & Wallace, 2023). Thematic analysis of interview data and field notes identified four main findings: (1) identity negotiation through cosplay names and chosen characters; (2) self-transformation and increased self-confidence since the first cosplay experience; (3) development of self-concept strengthened by community appreciation; and (4) a more open communication style within the community but limited by stigma outside the community. These findings suggest that cosplay is not just entertainment, but a transformative medium for self-exploration, social skill development, and creative network formation. Despite the challenges of social stigma, participation in cosplay has been shown to increase self-confidence, communication skills, and facilitate professional opportunities in the creative industry. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term psychological impacts of cosplay in various cultural contexts. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami penerapan frugal living di kalangan mahasiswa perantau melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di Institut Ilmu Kesehatan Bhakti Wiyata Kediri dengan melibatkan lima informan yang dipilih secara purposif berdasarkan kriteria tertentu. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur, observasi partisipatif, dan studi dokumen, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model analisis interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa frugal living dipahami sebagai strategi pengelolaan keuangan yang bijak, bukan bentuk kekikiran, dan diterapkan mahasiswa melalui berbagai cara seperti memasak sendiri, mengurangi pengeluaran konsumtif, serta menabung untuk kebutuhan penting. Tiga tema utama yang ditemukan adalah: adaptasi finansial, negosiasi identitas sosial, dan pencarian keseimbangan hidup. Gaya hidup hemat ini berkontribusi positif terhadap kemandirian ekonomi, pengelolaan stres finansial, dan pembentukan karakter resilien. Namun, jika diterapkan secara ekstrem, dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif seperti gangguan kesehatan, tekanan psikologis, isolasi sosial, dan hambatan dalam pengembangan diri. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi mahasiswa untuk menerapkan frugal living secara seimbang dan fleksibel, dengan mempertimbangkan kebutuhan dasar, kesehatan mental, serta peluang investasi pengembangan diri. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoretis terhadap teori konsumsi dan self-determination, serta menawarkan implikasi praktis dalam bentuk pengembangan literasi keuangan mahasiswa. Kata Kunci : Frugal Living, Mahasiswa Perantau, Literasi Keuangan, Stabilitas Finansial, Kebutuhan Dasar
