Abstract

This research aims to know the volume, location, type, potential, way and factors that influence the firewood consumption of the villagers. Data collection is conducted by observation, interview and literature study. The factors that influence firewood consumption (numbers of family member, income, outcome, duration and distance) are analyzed with multiple linear aggression. The hypothesis assessment is conducted with analysis of variance (ANOVA) and software used is SPSS16. The research shows thatannual firewood consumption of the villagers is approximately 38.520 SM/capita/year, equally 107,856 million m3 per year. The wood types that often used by respondents to cook are Lamtoro (Leucaena Leucocephala), Teak (Tectona grandis), Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), Schleichera (Schleichera oleosa), Tamarind (Tamarindus Indica L), Banyan, Gamal (Gliricidia sepium), Candlenut (Dipterocarpus sp), Mango (Magnifera indica). The firewood is partly taken from garden and house yard by picking up the fallen braches that have been dried up. The regression analysis model and factors that influence firewood consumption follow the equation of Y= -0.089 + 0.440X1 -0,00000008629X2–0,0000000211X3 + 0.272X4+ 0.000 X5. The variable that clearly influences is variable X1 (the number of family member), however, all X factors influence one another ifsimultaneously assessed. The determination co-efficiency (R2) is 0,546 or 54.6 % which means influence of independent variable towards dependent variable in this research is 54.6% while the rest 45.4% is influenced by other factors outside the variable of this research

Abstract

Indonesia has various types of flora and many unique varieties of tropical plants. There are about 8000 species of medicinal plants spotted, however only around 800 to 1200 species that have been used as traditional medicinal herbs or jamu. First thing to do before publishing the benefits of medicinal plants is to determine its level of diversity in an area. The introductionof medicinal plants in science can be used as information for making traditional medicinal ingredients that are useful for the community, one of which is the community around the BipoloNature Park. This research aims to determine levels of diversity and to specify medicinal plants that have been used by locals at Utilization Bloc in Bipolo Nature Park. Data collection techniques are done by deploying vegetation analysis, identifying medicinal plants, and by interviews. From the research conducted, diversity indices of medicinal plants measured by The Shannon diversity index (H') shows intermediate results for medicinal plants at Bipolo Park (1 ≤ H’ ≤ 3). Species richness measured by Margalef Index (R') shows low rank (R’ ≤ 5).Locals at utilization bloc in Bipolo Park utilize 21 species of medicinal plants that they get near by the place where they live. Leaf and bark are the most commonly used part of the plants with total up to 30%.

Abstract

Administratively, the Timau Mutis nature reserve extends to the reigns of Mollo Utara and the reigns of Timor Tengah Selatan. Natural conditions that are fertile and nutrient-rich encourage people to apply agroforestry patterns in their management. So far, however, it is not known which agroforestry management pattern is used by communities around the forest. This study aims to determine the management of the protected forest of Mutis Timau according to the agroforestry model in the village of Fatukoto. The research method used is descriptive and sampled according to the Slovenian formula. The main components of the forest protected by Timau Mutis in the village of Fatukoto are dominated by Cemara and Ampupu. There are other forestry products, namely mahogany, melina, mango and turi. The dominant agricultural raw materials are cassava, sweet potato, and carrots and oranges, which are classified as plantation raw materials. The implementation of the protection forest management based on eight indicators shows that 79.90% of the population has a good understanding and management techniques for the management of the protected forest of Mutis Timau according to the agroforestry model. The high level of implementation is also reflected in the reduction in open spaces, which is reflected in the differences in the maps of the Mutis Timau protected area in 1983 and 2019. The management of the protected forest of Mutis Timau with alternating agroforestry patterns (alternative lines) falls into the good category. The people in the village of Fatukoto, who live around the protected forest of Mutis Timau, have also directly or indirectly felt the advantages of forest management with the applied agroforestry pattern.

Abstract

Eucalyptus (Melaleuca leucadendra) is the result of a non-timber forest that utilized its leaves to be used as eucalyptus oil (cajaput oil) which will be used as medicine, insecticides and fragrances. The propagation of Eucalyptus is done in order to meet the needs of eucalyptus oil (cajaput oil) in Indonesia. The aim of this research was to determine the appropriate concentration of liquid organic fertilizer of cow urine on the growth of eucalyptus seedlings. This research was conducted at the permanent nursery Fatukoa in January to April 2020. The research method uses Complete Random Design (CRD) with 4 treatments that are A0 (0ml/1000ml), A1 (150ml/1000ml), A2 (250ml/1000ml) and A3 (350ml/1000ml). The parameters of the observation measured are the height of the plant, diameter, leaf number, dry weight and the percentage of life of eucalyptus seedlings. To find out the difference between the treatment it was tested Honestly Significant Difference (HSD). The results showed that application of liquid organic fertilizer cow urine is significantly affected to parameters of plant height, leaf number and dry weight, but is not significant affect to parameters of diameter and percentage of life. The concentration of 150ml/1000ml provides better growth results than other concentrations.
