Abstract

This study aims to describe the development stage of learning media in the form of interactive multimedia powerpoints, describe the quality of the learning media developed in the form interactive multimedia powerpoint, and describe lecturer and student’s responses on the use of learning media in the form of interactive multimedia power point. This research was development research (R & D). Population of this research was the second semester of second semester of English students of ABA Balikpapan. Determination sample using random sampling technique. Based on these techniques, obtained 1 class of 4th semester students as test subjects. Data collection technique using a questionnaire in the form of a questionnaire that had be filled in by lecturers and students after using the learning media. Before being tested, the media learning through the media validation stage and material validation by media experts and material expert. The data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative, with transforming qualitative data into quantitative data. The result of this research is an interactive media of communication learning powerpoint which is packaged on a class presentation. Stages in development These media are (1) Initial data collection, (2) Product development, (3) Validation of material experts and media experts, (4) Revision, (5) Product testing, (6) Analysis data, and (7) Revision of the final product. The results of this study consist of two aspects, namely the quality of the media and responses users. In the aspect of media quality, the assessment was carried out by media experts and experts Theory. In the aspect of user responses, the assessment was carried out by lecturer and students. Assessment by media experts got a percentage of 63%. Expert assessment material gets a percentage of 90%. Assessment by subject lecturers get a percentage of 83%. Assessment by students gets a percentage amounted to 65.5%. The overall average rating was 75%. Result of this research proves that this powerpoints learning media is feasible to use based on validation tests by material experts and media experts.

Abstract

The aims of the analysis titled a Study on Students' troubles for acquiring vocabulary comprised to look for out characters and elements by educates' troubles in finding out vocabulary. The topic of this study was the scholars of the primary semester of STITEK Bontang who took English class. This study applied a qualitative enquiry intent, applying features of a case study. For acquiring the information, the man of scientific discipline put-upon interview and questionnaire. All the data comprised examined descriptively. The determinations displayed that the students still faced the effects or troubles in vocabulary learning. Diverseness’s from troubles faced of students incoming vocabulary acquiring followed several. Kinds of troubles faced along the students were (1) most of the students have difficulties in saying the words, (2) a way to write and spell, (3) the various grammatical type of a word called inflections was one in all gets of learners troubles in determining vocabulary. In increase, (4) the students found difficulties in selecting the suitable that means of the words and (5) additionally still confuse in victimization the word supported the context. The last, (6) the students were also still confuse once they found discussions or aspect that comprised idiomatical. At that place bear made up some factors in that made students' troubles in acquiring vocabulary (1) the written kind is completely different from the spoken form in English, (2) The number of words that students got to learn is passing large, (3) the restrictions of sources of data regarding words, (4) The complexness of word cognition. Deliberate a words regards kind of more than acknowledging its wordbook definition, (5) lack of inferring of grammatical of the words, (6) the erroneous pronunciation is commonly caused by the dearth of sound law of similarity between English language and also the students' indigent language.

Abstract

Sometimes, people may request to offer our viewpoints on a specific subject. It is once in a while difficult to verbally communicate our opinion to others. Those may have trouble putting our thoughts into words or may even dread be addressing to others. So, communication is not effectively delivered. Therefore, we should be able to find an effective way to continue expressing idea using suitable words. Due to this problem, this study was aimed to investigate whether strategic competence has positive relationship with speaking performance and to discover the varieties of strategic competence undertaken by the students particularly. A descriptive method used in this study. The data needed were obtained through a sample consisting of 14 students at Senior High School in Garut. The data analysis shows that there is positive relationship between strategic competence and speaking performance. In addition, the communication strategies or strategic competences, which are the most often, applied by the participants of study, are borrowing including literal translation and language mix. Also, they often applied paraphrase including approximation and circumlocution. According to the findings, it can be concluded that communication strategies are important for learners to notice that breakdown in communication not as some insuperable obstacle to be stayed away but as a great chance for learning. So, it is expected that the teachers help the students to remain in conversation, and so allow them with more input and more opportunities to develop their interlanguage system.

Abstract

The problems contained in this paper are described about interpreting what semiotic codes are described in gnomics, proaretics, and hermeneutics in the novel Aroma Karsa by Dee Lestari? and how do the three meanings of the code provide an overview of the detailed learning in Dee Lestari's Aroma Karsa novel? The purpose of this study is to learn in detail about learning to interpret the code contained in the novel Aroma Karsa by Dee Lestari, and to understand the function of meaning contained in the myth in detail from the events in the novel Aroma Karsa by Dee Lestari. The data sources for this paper are: the novel Aroma Karsa, while the check-list data collection techniques and data collection guide instruments have been named. The results of this paper on the gnomic code are related to the myth about a Dwarapala village that inhabits in Alas Kalingga. The residents still believe in the descendants of Mahesa Guning. Life relies on God and supernatural powers. The hermeneutic code deals with the riddle or mystery of the mindset of a man who is too greedy and ambition to get wealth by stealing a box in a closet belonging to a royal relative. Learning about what was stolen, he became greedy to get the scent of Puspa Karsa to be known in the Asian region. Raras invites his adopted son, Suma, who has a keen sense of smell, to find Puspa Karsa in Dwarapala Village in the Kalingga forest. The results of this paper are divided into three, namely: The kernel contains a normal story, the kernel experiences back-lighting and the kernel experiences normality and then climaxes and ends. The stimulation stage is at Kernel 7-42, while the criticality is kernel 43-47: Conflict is at kernel 48 and Complicated Kernel is 49, 50. The climax is at kernels 55, 56, 57, 58, while Leraian is at kernels 59 and 60. The solution is in the kernel. 61.
