Abstract

The problem in this research is that elementary school students' sight reading skills are still not optimal. The reason is that in skim reading skills, students are less motivated to read the text, students have difficulty understanding the content of the text, and students have difficulty in concluding the content of the text. Students' lack of motivation in sight reading is one of the factors that causes students' sight reading skills to not be optimal. This research aims to determine whether there is an influence of the SQ4R) strategy on students' skim reading skills in elementary schools. This type of research is Quasi Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. The population of this study were elementary school students with the sampling technique being random sampling. Data obtained with the final test were analyzed using the t test. The results of the research using normality and homogeneity tests on both data were normally and homogeneously distributed. Next, a hypothesis test was carried out with the t-test showing tcount= 3.731 and ttable= 1.688 with df= 38 (n1 + n2 – 2 = 19+19-2=36) and a significance level of 5%. Based on testing tcount ttable (3,731 1,688), H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted with the conclusion that there is an influence of the Survey, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, and Review (SQ4R) strategy on students' short- online reading skills in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of phase B elementary school students in the IPAS subject, particularly on the water cycle topic. This study aims to develop a teaching module based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) to improve students' learning outcomes. The method used is Design and Development (DD) with the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The results show that the CTL-based teaching module is highly feasible to use, with an average validation score of 91.66%. Furthermore, the N-Gain test results indicate an improvement in students' learning outcomes with a score of 0.66, categorized as moderate. This study recommends using CTL-based teaching modules as an alternative approach to enhance understanding and learning outcomes in IPAS subjects.

Abstract

This study discusses the use of Microsoft Excel in the management of student grades and data at SDIT Al Uswah Pamekasan. Along with the rapid development of information technology in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era, educational institutions are required to optimize the use of technology to improve the efficiency of academic administration. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that Microsoft Excel is effective for recording daily grades, midterm and final exams, attendance, and student data recapitulation. The use of Excel provides various benefits, such as work efficiency, increased data accuracy, professional data presentation, and encouraging teachers' technological skills. However, there are challenges in the form of digital literacy inequality among teachers and minimal formal training. Therefore, ongoing training and technological assistance are needed to optimize the use of Microsoft Excel in elementary school environments.

Abstract

This study examines the critical role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in strengthening character education (adab) among students in Islamic elementary schools, with a focus on internalizing moral and ethical values to cultivate noble behavior. Using a qualitative literature review method, this research synthesizes data from scholarly articles, books, and policy documents related to PAI-based character education. The findings highlight three key strategies for fostering adab: (1) teacher exemplification, where educators model Islamic values in daily interactions; (2) habitual practice, such as structured routines for prayer, honesty, and respect; and (3) creating a supportive school environment that reinforces Islamic ethics through rules, culture, and peer interactions. However, challenges such as limited parental involvement and the negative influence of digital media hinder consistent implementation. The study concludes that effective adab integration requires a holistic approach, combining curriculum design, school culture, and community engagement. When systematically applied, PAI can transform students' moral development, ensuring they not only understand Islamic teachings but also embody them in daily life. These insights contribute to improving Islamic education strategies for character building in modern contexts. This study examines the critical role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in strengthening character education (adab) among students in Islamic elementary schools, with a focus on internalizing moral and ethical values to cultivate noble behavior. Abstract

Traditional arts hold a vital role in preserving cultural identity and fostering character education in early schooling. Patrol music, a community-based percussive ensemble developed in local traditions, offers rich historical, cultural, and educational values that remain underutilized in formal education. This study investigates the potential of patrol music as a pedagogical medium in elementary school education. This study employs a qualitative approach using the literature review method. Academic journals, books, and institutional reports were analyzed to examine the historical development, cultural significance, and pedagogical relevance of patrol music within the framework of contextual and thematic learning. The findings reveal that patrol music does not only serve as an engaging tool to contextualize subjects (e.g. Social Studies, Civic Education, and Arts), but it is also as a medium to cultivate students’ social-emotional skills, including cooperation, empathy, and cultural pride. Integrating it into the school curriculum could align with character education and local wisdom-based learning emphasized in curriculum policy in Indonesia. To maximize the educational potential of patrol music, some strategic actions are recommended, such as administering teacher training, developing local-based learning resources, and encouraging collaboration with cultural communities. These steps are critical in revitalizing traditional arts education and reinforcing cultural resilience among younger generations.

Abstract

The professional competence of elementary school teachers plays a crucial role in optimizing the quality of learning at the primary level. Competent teachers not only master the subject matter but are also skilled in designing, implementing, and evaluating learning effectively. This study aims to analyze the contribution of elementary teachers' professional competence in improving learning quality through a literature review. The method used is a library study, analyzing various relevant journals and articles. The findings indicate that pedagogical mastery, professionalism, and innovative teaching skills significantly influence student learning outcomes. Teachers with strong pedagogical abilities can adapt teaching methods to students' needs, fostering better understanding and engagement. Additionally, professional competence enables teachers to utilize technology and creative learning strategies, making lessons more interactive and effective. Furthermore, continuous assessment and feedback from competent teachers help identify students' weaknesses and improve learning strategies. Continuous teacher training and qualification enhancement should be prioritized. Workshops, certification programs, and mentoring can help teachers stay updated with the latest educational developments. By improving teachers' professional competence, schools can ensure higher learning quality, better student achievement, and long-term educational success. Investing in teacher development is essential for building a strong foundation in elementary education

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of educational games utilizing the Educaplay platform in improving cognitive understanding of second- grade students in Mathematics at SDN Bugih 3 Pamekasan. The approach used was a quasi-experiment, with a one-group pretest-posttest design with 30 students as subjects. Multiple-choice tests were used as instruments to assess students' understanding before and after the intervention. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (p 0.05), indicating an increase in understanding after using Educaplay. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis showed an average increase of 82.33%, which is included in the high category. These results indicate that combining interactive game-based learning effectively improves students' motivation, engagement, and conceptual understanding. Thus, Educaplay is recommended as an innovative alternative tool for elementary education.
