Abstract

This study aims to develop instruments measuring the ability to solve physics problems on the subject of high school gas kinetic theory based on Polya stages. This research is a research & development study using the 4D development model. Internal trials were conducted on 2 experts and 1 learning practitioner, while empirical trials were conducted on 81 students. Internal trial data were obtained through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques, while empirical test results were obtained through test techniques and analyzed following the Rasch Model (RM) using the QUEST program. The results showed that at the internal test stage all items were stated to be very good in measuring the ability of solving physical problems. Empirical test results, as many as 5 out of 5 items were declared fit, with instrument reliability of 0.63 (high category). The level of difficulty of the items varies, some are easy and difficult. And the distinguishing power of all items included in either category. Thus, 5 test instruments developed were stated to meet the requirements and were appropriate to be used to measure the ability of solving physical problems based on Polya's stages.

Abstract

Research has been conducted with the aim to find out an increase in learning outcomes by using the discovery learning model of student learning outcomes. This type of research is quantitative with pre-experimental design research methods. The research design used was one-group pretest-posttest. The study was conducted at Jayapura 11 Public Middle School in the 2018/2019 school year. The sample used in this study was class VIIIC, amounting to 30 students. The analysis technique used is the n-gain analysis. The results of research and data processing obtained that there is an increase in student learning outcomes in class VIIIC 11 State Junior High School Jayapura namely the average n-gain value for the vibration concept of 0.65, the wave concept obtained an average n-gain is 0.67, whereas in the concept transverse waves and longitudinal waves, increasing student learning outcomes obtained an average n-gain of 0.69. Based on the learning outcomes of each concept seen an increase but each of these concepts is in the medium category taught by the discovery learning model. Normalized n-gain results for the whole concept are included in the medium category where n-gain is obtained 0.67.

Abstract

The innovative way to improve the quality of human resources are elevated through education as one of basic foundation of human life. Education is a booster to form ideas, express thoughts, share feelings, and live a life as an individual. Education is also a significant factor that can change society and give new color to the community. This study aims to describe the process of stimulating students’ higher-order thinking skills on heat and temperature concepts. This research uses a descriptive method. Population in this study were high school students in Class XI in the city of Jayapura. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling so that a sample of 50 students was obtained. Research data collection using observation techniques and in-depth interviews. The results showed that students were able to build higher-order thinking skills by demonstrating cognitive activity focusing on the following processing classes: 63.7% of analysis skills, 23.9% of evaluation skills, and 12.4% of synthesis skills. These results represent that the activity of higher-order thinking skills stimulus process on heat and temperature concepts in learning. The process of this study could be functioned as an alternative strategy to encourage students to show the pattern of their higher-order thinking skills in the process of teaching and learning. This is the important findings in this study. Keywords: heat and temperature concepts, higher-order thinking skills, analysis skills, evaluation skills, synthesis skills, cognitive activity

Abstract

Everyone has their own rights and obligations, especially in terms of education. This has already been stated in the contents of the 1945 Constitution article 31 paragraph 1 which states that every citizen has the right to receive education with the same treatment especially for the children with disabilities. The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of puzzle game in the learning process about solar system for children with disabilities. This research is included as research and development. The research design is quantitative and qualitative. Data collection techniques used in this research are including observation, documentation, and interviews. The results of this study indicate that the use of puzzles has an effectiveness that affects the learning process of solar system material which is showed by the SPSS test. The SPSS test shows that each item in the questionnaire has a value of more than rtable with value of 0.6694.

Abstract

This research aims to describe some of the results of the analysis of UN, USBN, and UAS based on Indikatol HOTS and LOTS, knowing how it is developed and how the results of HOTS and LOTS capabilities participants Students at school. As for this type of research that is an observation with the teacher of physic subjects. The subject of this study was a grade XII-MIPA student in the MA Darussalam City of Bengkulu. The results of this observation showed that the percentage of the problem of UN, USBN, and UAS class XII Physics MA school year 2017-2018 in the review of Taksanomi bloom in the revised analysis (C4) in a succession of 86%. 86% and 100%. While the level of evaluating (C-5) is in a row of 14%. 14% and 0%. Problems that have been tested consist of two questions lower-order thinking skills (LOTS) with a percentage of 14.3% and 12 problems HOTS with the problem according to the revision of Bloom's taxonomy is 55.3% level analysis and 21.4% level evaluates. Quality problems in the. Researchers can conclude that the problem of UN, USBN, and UAS who are in the field today is still relatively low to measure HOTS, and problems developed today are enough to have good quality and worth using.

Abstract

One of the lessons that can be used to stimulate mastery of concepts is learning approach STEM. This is effective if it is supported by teaching materials in the form of physics comics. It has been done validity test which are consists of design expert test and material expert test, and the product is valid as to be used. The attractiveness, convenience, and benefit test is conducted by students and the results of attractiveness were obtained by 3.38, convenience with a score of 3.38 and benefit test were obtained 3.31. This research was conducted using one group pre post design. The results of the paired sample t test. Sig value. (2-Tailed) is less than 0.05 which is 0,000, so it can be explained related to the significant use of STEM, on the ability to master students’ concepts. Based on the value of N-gain, the average N-gain of concept mastery ability is 0.43 with the medium category.
