Abstract

The call (an-nida) is a fundamental form of human communication that signifies the need for interaction among individuals. Calling methods vary between languages, reflecting diverse cultural values and impacting language understanding and cross-cultural interaction. The researcher chose qualitative research and followed the descriptive-analytical approach, using the introspective approach in data collection. When analyzing the data, she relied on the comparative analysis method. One of the key findings of this research is that the call in Arabic and Indonesian shows both similarities and differences. Each language uses tools for calling, including a common tool for general calls, which is "يا" in Arabic and "[Wahai]" in Indonesian. These tools may be omitted from speech for brevity. In terms of grammatical analysis, the tools affect the addressees in Arabic, while they do not affect the addressees in Indonesian. Arabic distinguishes between the intended and unintended vocatives through diacritical marks, while Indonesian does not make this distinction, considering the circumstances and keeping the word in its original form

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of the online learning platform Mondly Language on the Arabic writing skills of seventh-grade students. Writing proficiency is a crucial yet often neglected component of language learning. Adopting a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the research involved two sample groups: an experimental group using Mondly Language and a control group employing traditional teaching methods. After conducting normality tests, data were collected through pre- and post-tests, leading to the application of a non-parametric statistical analysis using the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05), indicating that the use of Mondly Language positively influences students’ Arabic writing development. Key contributing factors to the effectiveness of the platform include its engaging visual interface, gamification-based interactivity, and varied exercises that promote active student participation in composing Arabic sentences. The findings support the integration of creative, technology-based instructional strategies to enhance Arabic writing skills among junior high school students.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation and evaluation of Ibadurrahman values in character education at Anwarul Huda Islamic Boarding School, Malang. Employing a qualitative descriptive method within a case study framework, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, and processed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The evaluation applied the discrepancy model to identify gaps between program objectives and actual outcomes, thereby informing strategic improvements. The findings indicate the use of two primary evaluation mechanisms: monthly evaluations involving both administrators and students, and periodic assessments focusing on students’ compliance with character development benchmarks. Disciplinary measures (ta’zīr) were educational in nature, emphasizing non-violent moral reinforcement through Qur’anic recitation, reflective writing, and memorization tasks. These sanctions functioned as both preventive and corrective tools, encouraging introspection and behavioral transformation. Moreover, the character education program integrated Ibadurrahman values into structured routines and daily activities, demonstrating its effectiveness in fostering a holistic moral environment. The study underscores the institution’s commitment to systematic character education rooted in Islamic ethics and offers a replicable model for similar educational settings. These findings contribute to the broader discourse on faith-based character formation and provide practical insights for Islamic educational institutions seeking sustainable and value-driven approaches.

Abstract

The urgency to develop Arabic vocabulary learning materials in Braille for visually impaired beginner students arises as a response to the persistent inequality of access to education within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). The scarcity of specialized instructional media tailored to the characteristics of visual disabilities has hindered vocabulary acquisition, a crucial element in building reading skills and Arabic text comprehension. In this context, the development of Braille-based learning materials through a systematic instructional design approach—specifically the ADDIE model—offers a practical and inclusive educational solution. This study adopts a Research and Development (RD) methodology, utilizing the ADDIE framework, which comprises five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The analysis phase involved field observations, in-depth interviews, and document reviews to assess the actual learning needs of visually impaired students at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Qur’an in Probolinggo. Based on this analysis, thematic vocabulary materials were designed around students’ daily environments, such as body parts, school facilities, daily activities, and food. The content was produced in Arabic Braille and enriched with interactive exercises, including letter arrangement, word matching, multiple-choice questions, and progressive reading and memorization tasks. The materials were validated by experts in Arabic language education, Braille methodology, and inclusive education. The results confirmed high pedagogical and technical feasibility. A limited trial with four students showed significant improvement in Braille reading skills, vocabulary comprehension, and self-confidence in independent learning. This innovation affirms the right to equitable and dignified education for students with disabilities and promotes inclusive pedagogical practices within Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The Arabic language proficiency of students at Al-Khairiyah Senior High School Kelapian Banten appears to be hindered by several factors, including a lack of interactive learning tools such as Android-based applications, gaps in instructional content, low student engagement, limited teacher training, and the absence of supplementary educational resources like LKPD. Even though Azzahra stated, that Android-based Arabic language worksheets are quite effective in improving students' Arabic learning outcomes. A study was conducted to evaluate the impact of the "Al-Maahirah" application on the Arabic learning performance of tenth-grade students at the school. The research utilized a quantitative experimental approach, specifically a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest method. The sample consisted of 13 students, with data collected through assessments and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and the N-Gain test. The results indicated that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.001, which is below 0.05, suggesting a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. Moreover, the results of the N-Gain test showed a score of 0.715 or in percentage form 71.5%, which interprets a high score, and an effective score of 0.89824, which is included in the large category. Based on these findings, it was determined that the "Al-Maahirah" application contributed significantly to improving students' Arabic language learning outcomes during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of ecolinguistic factors on the misuse of ḍamīr (pronouns) in Arabic conversations among students in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and linguistic error analysis. The findings indicate that environmental elements—such as the habitual use of local languages and the limited exposure to Arabic in daily interactions—significantly contribute to errors in the use of ḍamīr. Among the types of pronouns, ḍamīr muttaṣil exhibited the highest frequency of errors (60%), followed by ḍamīr munfaṣil (30%) and ḍamīr mustatir (10%). These errors occurred more frequently in informal contexts, underscoring the role of situational language use. The study highlights the critical role of an immersive and supportive language environment in fostering accurate Arabic usage. Its implications are relevant for the refinement of Arabic language instruction in pesantren, offering pedagogical recommendations to enhance language competence through ecolinguistically responsive teaching strategies.
